[SOLVED] 2 Common problems, however I don't know how to fix them

Flashing between old-and-new koopa and then retarded coin-sparkle. How do I fix these? First time I ran into those.

02639 $00:A439 1 byte Misc. Change [F0] (BEQ) to [80] (BRA) to prevent various tiles in SP1 to be overwritten (which meant using ExGFX for them would have no effect). This does not affect tiles 00-09, 10-19 and 7F of SP1.

This should fix the koopa. You may have deleted/replaced coin graphics for that coin sparkle though.
...What? Is that a HEX adress I have to replace or something?

As for the coin sparkles, that is due to you overwriting 8x8 tile 83 with your Koopa head graphics. This patch will fix it by making the sparkles, as well as certain other sprites, use another empty tile instead.

Yeah, open up your rom in a hex editor (Transhextion?).
Go to the offsets tab and click on "jump to".
Then type in x02639 and press enter.
Then type in 80 and save it back to the rom.
Did you change the GFX of the Sliding Koopa in GFX00?

I just put the winter koopa GFX I downloaded, and the coin sparkle glitched.

But I'll try the hex edit thing.
Edit:just downloaded the program, replaced F0 with 80, ran the rom and... the koopa is still glitched.

Well, if you don't mind giving the player a ton of points, you could always ROM address 11CAD from 00 to 09. This will make the player earn 1,000 points for each coin block they hit, which will prevent the bit of koopa GFX from appearing.

Of course, this is really only for if the patch doesn't work, because 1,000 points is quite a bit (though they don't really matter too much in my opinion).

Oh, right. The patch I linked to will also fix the 10-point tiles.

I allready fixed the coin sparkle. Now it's the flashing koopa I need to fix.

Does the ExGFX package come with GFX00 ExGFX? And can you link me to the ExGFX you used?

*MMMCOUGH*I LINKED IT IN THE FIRST POST*COUGH*

I see the problem. This ExGFX does not contain a GFX00. If you look at GFX00, you'll see that one Sliding Koopa frame is in there. Simply make your own ExGFX from GFX00, and copy the new Sliding Koopa into your new ExGFX file. (This is assuming you know how to make ExGFX files. If you don't tell me.)
Okay then I have to make another ExGFX file that represents GFX00. I'll try it.
Edit: Yeah, I just found that tile. I replaced it with the koopa from the other ExGFX file and then... It's still the same. My guess is because I didn't overwrite GFX00.bin, but rather made an ExGFX file that is GFX00.bin with my new koopa and added as ExGFX (since I don't want winter kooopas in every level)

Any other suggestions?

Edit 2: After corrupting my rom a few times and making it do weird... things I managed to fix it. Here's how I did it:

1) Draw the second animated tile by myself on GFX00.bin
2) Save as ExGFX96.bin, import ExGFX and then replace 00 with 96 on the exgfx bypass window
3) Do the hex edit to fix the koopa
4) PROFIT!!

Thanks, SMWC.

Did you make sure you reinserted the GFX?
In order to overwrite GFX00.bin save a file under this name in the Graphics folder and reinsert the graphics.
What you will want is to create an ExGFX file (pick a number yourself, has to be 80+) and bypass the GFX list to insert it in just this one level. To do this do the following:

Extract the GFX and ExGFX (I assume you have already done this?)
From the newly created folder "Graphics" copy GFX00.bin to the folder 'ExGraphics'
Rename it ExGFX80.bin (or any number above 80)
Paste the correct koopa graphics over those in ExGFX80.bin
Go to your ROM and reinsert the graphics and ExGraphics
Click the red mushroom at the right top, check the little box and set SP1 to ExGFX80.bin.
It should now work properly, for just one level.
Of course you should fight fire with fire, you should fight everything with fire.
