The Non-Fool April VGM Guessing Contest

MusicNon-SMW

video game's

It's once again time to guess some VGM! We're not quite aligned with a change of seasons this time around, but that doesn't mean we can't listen to some tunes and desperately try to figure out where they're from!

As the list of hosts never ceases to grow, we've got a total of 7 people who contributed songs this time:  AmperSam,  bebn legg,  Doctor No, Ethelfleda, Exodust,  icrawfish, and  sincx! You can look forward to a diverse selection of music. And because we can't hold ourselves back, there are a grand total of 121 + 11 = 132 songs this time.

So, let's jump right into how it works! It's simple, just guess the name of the game that each song is from.
And more specifically:
-If you don't know which game specifically a song is from, you can also guess the series.
-Getting the game wrong, but the series right (e.g. guessing Super Mario Bros. 3 instead of Super Mario Bros. 2) still counts as a correct series guess.
-If a game has multiple versions or soundtracks, be sure to specify which one the song is from!
-Direct ports or emulations of a song only count as being from the original game (ex. "Animal Crossing" is not a valid guess for the Super Mario Bros. overworld theme.) Inversely, recreations that are different from the original, even slightly, only count for the game in which the recreation is in ("Super Mario USA" is a correct guess for the SMB2/USA subspace theme, while "Super Mario Bros." is not.)
-Console menus (excluding PCs) and similar things count as being from video games. Remixes of video game music featured in other media do not (ex. Pokémon game music in the Pokémon anime.)

As per tradition, there are also four songs that are not from video games! Three of them are impostors (don't say it), which means that they're pre-existing, non-video game songs, while one of them is a composter, which is a song composed by one of us specifically for the contest! Correctly guessing these will net you extra points. For the impostors, you can list where the song is originally from, including track name, album, composer, or any other relevant information, should you know it, for that to count as correctly guessing the game. You can also guess a song as being the impostor without knowing its origin; if you're correct, you'll still receive the bonus points.
For the composter, since there's no origin, simply label it as the composter to get a total of 3 points.
There are no penalties for incorrectly guessing the impostors, so guess away!

Finally, after the set of 121 regular songs, there are also 11 EXTREME songs, which are from very obscure places. Correctly guessing these songs is worth some additional points.

DO NOT REVEAL YOUR GUESSES OR TALK ABOUT YOUR PROGRESS WITH OTHER USERS This is discouraging to other users at best, and ruins the spirit of the contest at worst. Penalties for doing this may include disqualification, and could go all the way up to a temporary ban.

Scoring
For each guess you submit, you will get the following:
  • 2 points - Guess the game correctly.
  • 1 point - Guess the series/franchise that a song comes from, but not the game (e.g. "Mario" for Super Mario World would get 1 point).
  • 3 points - Identify which song is the COMPOSTER. (Note that there is no actual source for this one, so simply labelling it "composter" is enough.)
  • Additional 2 points - Guess an extreme song correctly.
  • Additional 1 point - Identify an IMPOSTOR. You do not necessarily have to guess the actual song to get this bonus point.
  • Additional 2 points - Be the only person to identify a particular song.
  • Additional 1 point - Be the only person to identify which series/franchise a song comes from.

Game points and series points are mutually exclusive. This means that getting the game points overrides getting the series points (i.e. correctly guessing a game gives 2 points, not 2+1.)

Submitting your guesses
Compile all your guesses in a neat, organized format, and send them via site PM or Discord DM to either  bebn legg,  sincx,  Doctor No,  icrawfish, or Exodust by May 18th 2022, 23:59 EDT. You've got four whole weeks to submit your guesses.
If you're not submitting a guess for a particular song, there's no need to include it in the list you're sending us. Also, you may only guess one thing per song; guesses listing multiple games/series will be ignored as if you submitted nothing for that guess. (Of course, commenting things like "This sounds like X but I think it's from Y" is fine; only guesses like "Either X or Y" will be ignored.)

If you remember a song after you've already submitted your guesses, no worries, just send us another PM or DM, we'll compile everything together in the end.

This time around,  AmperSam has been gracious enough to create a lovely page on their site to allow for easy listening and navigation. No more downloading a gigabyte of music!

Welcome to Bopville, population: 7. Join us.
Sick beats!
Good luck to everyone who participates!

Greetings. My name is Blake Izayoi. I love Sakuya very much.
I enjoy Super Mario World, Touhou, and Vocaloid.
Have a good day.
Is there a way to easily download all the tracks, for those that want to do so like usual anyway?
Looking at the page source and tracking down the files, I think this should do it.

Yeah the little player site was made for convenience and you are free to use the mp3 files, so long as you don't do any fishy business like run them through an identifier.

Thanks! I typically like to rename the song files to include my guesses as I'm listening to them. (For example, if the first song was the first level's theme of Donkey Kong, I'd rename that file to be "001 - Donkey Kong - 25m.mp3".)
the site is very nice and the layout is very simple I hope to get some songs right

you are a great person :3

I'm not from fairy tail
This makes me feel like I've never even touched one of those video game things you young-uns play with before in my life.
