My LTTP Sprites

GraphicsMisc. HackingScreenshotsArt

I've been working hard on learning how to do pixel art, particularly for characters. And I've been enjoying it! One day when I learned how to make sprites for Link to the Past and how easy it really is, I started playing around with creating sprites for the game and LTTP randomizers. Here are the ones I've made thus far!

Mallow (the cat):

CarlSagan42:

Geno:

Shy Gal:

I plan on doing more in the future, too. These are fun to do, albeit a bit time consuming given how many frames there are. If you want to play as the characters, you can now play as them using the website here: Link To The Past Randomizer

Once you generate a game, you can pick the characters on the following ROM adjustment screen. Scroll down and you'll find Mallow, Carl, and Geno down in the list. Shy Gal hasn't been moderated in the official sprites list quite yet, however in future updates she will be.

Edit: Now Shy Gal has been added!
I can see how much effort you put in to then, really nice sprites you've made!
Just some Ys fan lol
Well done! These look really cute and polished.
Wow, these are really cool!

Click the character on the right side of my layout to visit my Discord server and discuss and play and look at and get updates and sneak peeks of the games and other things I'm making.

The authors of these 2 My Little Pony fan games have removed their games from the Internet.
Rise of the Clockwork Stallions has been updated! Download My Little Pony: Rise of the Clockwork Stallions DX: Director's Cut and My Little Pony: Magic Shards now! Spread this link!

Nice animation frames for the characters.
They look very nice, really cool, good work FedoraFriday!

Wow, awesome work, FedoraFriday!
Kirbo was here
These are pretty nice! The animation looks smooth too, it's clear to me there was genuine effort put into these.
>Mark danced crazy!
Backloggery MyAnimeList
They look great, I will try them later.
i will change this eventually
Those sprites look really cool! I'm especially surprised at how much CarlSagan42 resembles Yoshi, was that intentional? I'm curious.

Its based off MM102's Science Yoshi sprite he made, which is a prominent part of Carl's streams / youtube videos / emotes.

Good work~!

Random player characters is one of the most fun things about randomizers to me and these look great. I'll try one of these next time I play Zelda 3!

allow shy guy emojis in post footers you cowards!
ALTTP sprites are no joke, speaking from experience, and you went ahead and made 4?
These look really nice, great work!
Pretty Awesome.

Now make all the Shy Gals please. #smrpg{sick}

But seriously is it there any real big limitations to changing Link's graphics in this game?

The biggest limitation for Shy Gal in particular was palettes. You can only have 3, technically 4 if you include the bunny form. That being for green blue and red mail respectively. While I thought of making all different colors of Shy Gal available I felt like that’d be too much needless work for the moderators. So I decided on Red > Yellow > Black, with the pink bunny Shy Gal (which I made into a Snifit) for the bunny form.

But overall? The biggest limitation in general is that some frames are shared. Like for Geno I wanted his sleeping frame to be his initial doll form you see in SMRPG, but that frame was shared with another frame. Oh and also some frames are forcefully mirrored, so you have to be creative. Like for the front-facing swimming frame, for Geno, I had to move his bangs up in a weird way so it doesn’t snap back and forth constantly. Same issue for Shy Gal.
Man I'm digging how these sprites look. This is pretty rad!
