Description: | This is a little kaizo collab hack that was intended as an easier hack around the same difficulty as most other starter hacks so that newer players getting into kaizo can learn and get more skilled. The game features a small difficulty curve with level slowly ramping up in difficulty while staying within a newer player's ability. If you end up struggling or getting stuck at some point, there are 2 secret exits which lead to harder optional levels. Upon completing the optional levels, you will unlock a shortcut on the overworld allowing you to skip a few levels and get closer to final castle, this is to give the player an alternative if they feel like they need one while also letting them feel like they earned it. most levels are pretty short with checkpoints being common so that no level overstays its welcome. Overworld by Magmatic and Sweetdude Playtesters: quietmason, Magmatic, Sweetdude, Babayegha, LouisDoucet and an Anonymous playtester. This hack was made and finalized in a little less than a week as a project to test our creating skills under the pressure of a very short deadline. Made on the RHR baserom, with purely vanilla gameplay and custom graphics and music. V1.1.1 |

It explains a lot of beginner kaizo tricks and as an actual beginner to kaizo I have to say that I really did feel like this was designed for beginners, 5 stars from me!
Also for a hack made in a week this is really a great result. Although you get what you can expect from this collab hack; the polish and the difficulty can be a little incoherent. I appreciate that the hack ends with the most polished and coherent levels.
You can re-enter to beaten castles and fortresses by pressing L+R. Not sure if you meant that you "have to" play the full hack again to get that particular secret exit but I got that impression.
The overworld is the best I've seen since the Team Shell Hack.
The levels are hit and miss though.
The 2nd level especially hurt my eyes to look at. Also some of the music was very bland, especially 'the saints go marching in'.
The sewer dolphin level on the other hand looks gorgeous.
Gameplay-wise I didn't enjoy most of the early levels. They taught mechanics, but didn't feel fun. Other levels were really good though.
The final level was brilliant! I hadn't seen the koopa kids used like that.
as of now, i would say this is a standout hack of 2021 for me.
the variety of the level design, each stage being made by a different creator, made each level refreshing and not "more of the same". cant say enough good things about this hack, and i hope to see more of these beginner friendly collab hacks. seriously
short and sweet.
well done, yall!
