hard but fun

This is probably the easiest entry in the Luigi's Adventure series, though that is not saying much. The levels are difficult to be sure, but the checkpoint and powerup placement is mostly reasonable.

A few sections run a bit long, usually because there's a difficult boss at the end of a section that's already long and difficult (for example, the second half of Tortoise Empire 2 took me three hours and was the hardest section in the game for me). On the bright side, the game has multiple capes, which can be used to break some of the most difficult sections if you so choose.

The level design is somewhat repetitive (for example, there are at least three sections which require you to jump between dolphins in lava while avoiding Podoboos).

Overall, there are better rude Japanese hacks you could play (and non-Japanese hacks made in that style), but this is an important and accessible piece of hacking culture.

This has the worst level design I have ever seen in a hack. Level after bloated level of the same tedious enemy spam. If you're playing RTA, by about 35 exits in, gameplay devolves into

- backtrack to the level with easy access to a cape,
- get the cape and start-select,
- go back to current exit,
- try to skip as much as possible with cape

Cheese flying over terrible levels was the only joy I got from this hack.

hopefully this new version also works on bsnes as well
need to test on both bsnes and snes9x

It works just fine on SNES9X Emulator because I’m on world 7 of the Hack and I haven’t ran into a single problem in it. #tb{:]}.

of course it works fine on recent snes9x versions like 1.60 and the 2021 dev builds.

I just needed to run it in bsnes & higan to be sure it also runs fine there

I finally completed the game. It feels so very great to finally play a SMW Rom Hack that has had several whole issues in the past but has now been finally fixed. #tb{:]}#ab{:)}#smw{:TUP:}.

I have been playing this hack since the first laptop I ever owned, this is a great hack and it's the FIRST one I ever got that I at the time got farther than the first couple of levels, which is usually around the first sector to the beginning of the second. I call them sectors in SMW cause of the way how the map is made up, it's more similar to all one big map and that's about it. But yeah this hack is awesome, I love this hack and like I said this is the first of this particular difficulty I got farther in than just the first couple of sectors. If I could go passed the five star limit I so would, your hacks are some of the inspirations of mine, thank you so much, and I don't see where people would say "autistic fury" cause I do have autism and I don't get frustrated at all with your levels, they do get progressively harder, and I do fully expect that, your games are the highlights of my favorite hacks, and that's never gonna change! Live long and prosper my master, live long and prosper! P.S. I did forget to mention ONE thing though, the ONLY complaint I have with it is the BGM list file, it's not very readable for me, it's a bunch of symbols I legitimately don't know how the fuck you got em in, but that's all I have as a complaint, thanks to you my master, I have been inspired once again!

Personally, I agree with with Wakana... To a certain extent. Even though I rage with autistic fury at
sufficiently difficult games and hacks, (when I suck and/or it's hard enough(and yes I am a sperg irl lol)
in the end I enjoy not only the challenge but also I much prefer playing for longer, even when
it's only due to dying, which is not the case here. The levels are nice and long, even though sometimes
it gets a bit tiring in certain hacks. I much prefer that over beating a game/hack
too quickly. And besides, this was originally a freaking Japanese hack, so the difficulty's
not even out of place ha.

This hack had a lot of game songs that I first heard here. Like the songs from Castlevania AoS
(some of my favorites#smrpg{haha}), Mighty Final Fight Riverside (also one of my favorites), and so on.
Oh yeah, I love the way you used Mystic Square - Judgement (also the first time I heard that song years ago)#w{<3}

In case it wasn't obvious, this was one of the first-ish SMW hacks I played a certain amount of years ago,
so nostalgia and maybe the 1/2 weebness that I have may be clouding my vision a little, but it's still
one of my favorite hacks #smw{:peace:}
I mean, it's not my absolute favorite, but it has that Super Mario All-Stars feel and
pulls it off without feeling fake, so that's another reason I remember it so fondly :p

I have to admit, I can't decide whether to give it 4 or 5 stars, but eeh it's got so much charm and all so
Five stars #tb{:DD}
 Wakana From older version: Luigi's Adventure OSE Link
I was going to rate this 5 stars. I went through it and after completing it, I voted 3.

This hack was very good at the beginning, it showed a very fun design, pretty tough and challengy overall. It was bearable, not too much frustration and everything was fair. Then you get past mid-hack and everything becames impossible. It gets from fairly hard to unfairly hack, with nearly impossible-to-avoid enemies and very long levels. Completing them without abusing savestates is impossible even for experienced players. To make everything cuter, slowdown like no tomorrow. Still wondering why I voted it 3 stars?

On the other hand, the graphics are very good. They're not flawless, but they are good most of the times, giving to each world its charm and atmosphere. A few flaws may be some cutoff here and there, as well as some clashes. Nothing too major though.

Some issues:
- Music breaks on accurate emulators.
- Huge slowdown in many levels, especially around world 7 to world 8.

Overall, yeah, a good hack with a design which, in my opinion, has been pulled off too much. It went from joy to frustration, and it wasn't this fun. Won't probably play it again.
