Super Mario World Hacks → MOON

Description: Hey everyone,

This is my first hack. It features 18 difficult levels + a final castle.

There is a fair amount of custom ASM, but the majority of the hack is centered around solid platforming.

This hack wouldn't have been possible without the support of the community. So many people were extremely helpful in helping me figure things out, test, and provide moral support. I am incredibly thankful for that.

I am really excited for people to play this. If you decide to stream it don't hesitate to reach out to me as I'd love to watch.

Enjoy!

This is a fantastic romhack. It was somewhat difficult to believe how fun it was to play, considering you say it's your first hack. I am very late to the party on this, but I really enjoyed this. There were some really tight sections, but in my opinion the tightness forced you to play the level in a way that flowed nicely. Great music choices as well. I wish you would come back to the community and release more bangers

Amazing romhack and is very underrated. 5/5

One of my favorite ever hacks! I saw that the rating on this was surprisingly low on smwcentral so I thought that I would give a review. The overall tightness is challenging but in my opinion rewarding to triumph over, and the refreshing yet simple level ideas and atmosphere set this hack apart from other hacks among similar difficulty such as Comfort Zone or Grand Poo World 2. I wouldn't recommend this to intermediate players looking to get into expert hacks because all the tightness may be unforgiving to those who aren't ready for it, but it's an excellent hack for those who have played other expert hacks and are looking for something unique yet familiar.

Didn't really enjoy how incredibly tight everything was. Not a big fan of every set up being incredibly unforgiving. Made it hard to even enjoy the first level

This was phenomenal. Manages to incorporate creative level gimmicks while never losing that distinctive Mario feel. Things like the swinging platform that you ride along the track or the traveling spike sections are elegant twists on traditional kaizo platforming. There is some tightness, but 90%+ is fair. Moon is similar to Grand Poo World 2 in design sensibility and difficulty balance, making it very enjoyable to kaizo players with some experience. Highly recommend this one. 5/5

A quite difficult hack. I appreciated the challenge, as well as the interesting ideas. However, in my opinion this hack is too uncompromising to be fun. It seemed as if every jump required the maximum height and distance possible, and rarely was there an allowance for players to move in their own way. I would add that the section length was highly variable; often I would beat the first section in a matter of minutes and then spend at least twice as long on the second half (for example, the dolphin level into the vertical autoscroller). The Reznor boss was not very fun for me, it felt very repetitive and the spaces you could stand in were very tight, so it mostly just turned into a memory contest.

Overall, this hack is a good challenge, but it feels like it was designed to prioritize tightness and uncompromisingness over fun.
