Fire Stalking Piranha Plant

SMW Sprites → Fire Stalking Piranha Plant

Submission Details

Name: Fire Stalking Piranha Plant
Author: lion
Added:
Tool: PIXI
Type: Standard
Dynamic: No
Disassembly: No
Includes GFX: Yes
Description: A Ptooie that fires five fireballs between intervals of a few frames.

Inspired by a similar kind in VIP5, I decided to rename these after the Fire Stalking Piranha Plant units in Minion Quest and Bowser Jr.'s Journey for the sake of not confusing Mario fans, despite not having played those subgames yet.

Counting only the days it took me to make, took me about five days? Counting all of the ones where I just sat on my butt and did nothing, quite a few weeks lol

Intended for my "throw stuff at the wall and see what sticks" hack.

Very specific problem with this sprite... In the very unique way it handles the hurt routine, it can damage Mario in situations its not supposed to with LX-5's powerups patch. Namely, the shell suit does not co-operate with it no matter how much you tweak the settings and configurations of the patch or this sprite. A complete re-work of the hurt routine of this sprite would be required, and a good reference point would be the most similar sprite found here

Neat little sprite and it worked fine. It's well commented too which is nice, so if you want to change some values around it isn't too difficult. There's only one major thing to note, regarding fireball count. DO NOT set it to above #$05, or it will index a table out of bounds (unless you change the table yourself). Works fine other than that, so it's accepted.
