Description: This hack has been "complete" for quite some time now. I kept telling myself that I would add more to it however I feel that it's best just to release it now before I decide not to. Seeing as this is my first hack any criticism or suggestions are welcome.

Hope you enjoy playing it.

Jesus Christ the last boss is extremely tight and chaotic. Walls that take up 4 tiles worth of the screen on both sides, layer 2 skewers with on/off blocks, ground fire that takes up 2/3 of the usable screen, stun lock when Bowser jumps, targeting hammers, bullets, falling spikes, bowser moving so fast that your jump clips into him killing you immediately as you make a legit hit. Then there was Bowser's state of invincibility, where you would die when you jump on him, without any sort of indication that he was in said invincibility state. There's a mushroom before the boss door, but then you're checkpointed inside the door, so you get to use that mushroom all of once, the first time you see the boss and have essentially zero chance of winning. The vast majority of my deaths I felt like were out of my hands, that I was in one impossible situation or another. The fight was orders of magnitude more frustrating than it was fun.

There is no save after the exit before the final level, so you have to clear the final two levels, including the final boss, in one sitting.

I don't want to get down on it as a whole, I had a lot of fun with many of the levels. And I respect the time and effort it takes to create a custom boss like that. It was just the extreme tightness that sucked the enjoyment out of that fight for me. I think it's got potential, and with some tweaks could be a lot of fun.

I definitely agree with that sentiment, there's an update to the the game in "waiting files" right now that removes the layer 2 gimmick and tweaks a few other things.

Very cool! I appreciate you taking constructive criticism rather than getting defensive, as many people tend to do. It obviously isn't anything personal, just trying pass on my experience and thoughts. Nice work on the hack, looking forward to playing the new version of the boss fight!

The level before the final castle doesn't save your game and the switch palaces don't count towards the exit counter so I bumped the number of exits down to match the final exit count.

There's a hint level if you take the most linear path possible. however it may or may not be unlocked by a secret path in "Spiny's keep".

That screenshot was from an older version of the game with a different name for that level.
