Description: Join Mario as he explores the ruins of an ancient world unfamiliar to him. Is it another kingdom? A different time? Or, perhaps...another world?

Super Mario: Other World is a choconilla traditional ROM hack. This demo includes 5 of the game's worlds, totaling up to 31 different stages--4 of which have secret exits, and 2 those being switch palaces.

Keep in mind that there are no bosses at the end of any castles, and that there are no playable stages after "World 5, Blueberry Skies 4: The Storm Before the Calm" and "World A, Sakura Mountain 1: Bamboo Heights", so I guess you can call those the end of the demo.

Alright demo, aesthetics look really nice but levels otherwise feel a bit repetitive and have some weird bugs. Also the secret exit to get to the blue switch was really finicky to find.

Really fun hack, I'm really excited to see the release of it, the only issue I had was a buggy snakeblock that started eating away at the level and ability to go through a keylocked gate, since the bottom tile of it is a water block for some reason?

I only just found out about this project and I love this demo! Aesthatics and level design are so pleasing, this is what it looks like when a creator puts love into a hack. I´m really sad to see that this got cancelled and I´d be really happy to see at least another demo of any new levels.

Thanks for the feedback and criticism, everyone! This hack is still indeed a WIP, and I've been trying to fix up all the issues that you've all presented.
If any of you are interested in keeping up with the development of this hack you can just check out this thread: https://www.smwcentral.net/?p=viewthread&t=88937

I love what you've got here so far. It definitely feels like it's still a WIP: disappearing stage tiles as mentioned before, the goal score is often broken-up, some minor graphical glitches here and there. The hitbox for the Boos you can hurt is strange: when I wasn't anywhere near its pixels, I still took damage. I also had another instance where I took damage upon hitting one, when I shouldn't have. I love the aesthetic, music and world, though. You've done great so far. Can't wait to see more.

So far this hack has very good design and it's amazing, but there are some weird mistakes in it. I am aware that this hack is still a demo.

I'm gonna be honest with you; this hack re-ignited my passion for SMW hacks. I haven't played one in years and this is my first in a long while, and I'm glad it was.

I loved your palette usage; everything feels nice and toned down, but not dull. And the natural themes for the worlds felt super nice.

I really can't wait to see more!

Please continue making this rom hack, it's really amazing! I love the effort put into this, great color pallets, great level design, great music, and the fact that Mario can wall jump adds great ways to save yourself from falling to your death! I rate this rom hack 5 stars! please don't stop making this!

Fun little demo here, and save for a few parts that need polishing, it was a nice time.

I'd mainly suggest an application of the HDMA patch, along with double checking your events, since level tiles disappear sometimes, idk if that was the intention or not.

Either way, keep it up!

This obviously wasn't an intended behavior, the water scrolls up with the player. Just change the layer 3 water to constant scroll and you'll be set.

Set the Red Switch Palace message to this level's OW number.

Other than those two issues, you should be good to go.

I really enjoyed this demo! Especially the castle level, really nicely put together! I also enjoy how the first world has a pineapple-esc. palette, as the level names suggest. Good stuff.

Any critiques I can give of the demo are nitpicks, really. At worst, the layer 3 water follows you up in some levels, but that didn't particularly bother me.

Can't wait to see the completed version!
