I loved this hack. This was my very first 100% in a kaizo hack and I agree it is one of the easiest I have tried. With that said, it is still really engaging and can have a great flow in just about every level. I am surprised I don't see the recommended more often for beginners. Thanks Dan for the awesome work!

This hack borderlines Kaizo and I would honestly define it as a standard hack for the most part. There is a few shell jumps and basic re-grabs, but ultimately a welcome first step for a beginners to get their feet wet in SMW hacks. Well done!

Puzzle was cool too, I think it was spelled out for the player and would have been nice to have a bit more mystery behind it, but a lovely addition nonetheless. 4/5

I just started getting into playing Kaizo, and I just beat this as my 1st. I loved every minute of it. I had a wonderful time!

I've played through this a handful of times now. It's a short and simple intro kaizo hack. Apparently Robfather hates munchers so most of the aesthetic is munchers in some way. The aesthetic is clearly on purpose and care went into it, but it looks pretty bad in places, but that also gives it a unique feel and weirdly adds some charm.

Strong recommend for people struggling with Quickie World 1/2 or Baby Kaizo. Technically it's a gentler intro to kaizo, though I think those are easier to read visually. This game has A TON of coin guides so your path is always clear but sometimes it gets to be a bit much.

There's a simple meta puzzle, I always enjoy these and I wish more hacks would include one. There are
4 levels with hidden message boxes that give directions to escape a labyrinth towards the end of the hack which leads to the Special World
.

Took 40ish minutes to finish on most recent playthrough, video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D5TggsDFC-k

Great for beginners. Chill to play. Even gets you familiar with some shell stuff. This could be one of your first hacks and you'd be fine.

Super fun hack for beginners. My skill level is "pretty good at SMW but not really kaizo good" and this hack was a lot of fun for me to play.
ZemBecile Link
This was only my second ever kaizo hack, and it was a great! Was able to finish in one evening and had lots of fun!
GruntMastaFlash Link
I enjoyed the compact levels with loads of platforming and shell tricks. This would serve well as an intro hack to anyone interested in kaizo. The chill atmosphere was perfect with the music and I particularly enjoyed the hidden secrets. My only gripe is the consistently dark backgrounds with black munchers and dark custom sprites. Tons of fun!

what a great hack!!!!!! it was the first one I beat and like many others I found it absolutely perfect :D :D :D 10 out of 10!!!!
drxmario Link
This is the first kaizo hack I ever beat, and it was exactly what I was looking for. The pacing felt just right to me. Each kaizo trick is separated by some moderately tough but very fair platforming, so grinding a level helped me get generally better at movement control, rather than just learning a single setup. As a bonus you get some secrets, lore, and a great custom soundtrack. I'd highly recommend this hack to other beginners.
FineTunedBenjo Link
Fantastic beginner hack. I like the darker aesthetic, and the music was boppin. With this hack, Super Moo World, and a couple training hacks, I've been able to go from having very little kaizo skill to being confident enough to tackle Quickie World and other more technical hacks. Looking forward to your next one, Dan! #wario{B)}

Robfather World is great hack for beginners. Especially for people who'd like to dip their toes in kaizo after playing SMW vanilla. With the primary focus of platforming, Robfather World is a perfect stepping stone. In my opinion, We need more platform focused hacks, where I feel the focus sometimes is on making a hack of fluff instead of simple elements of kaizo or just the parts of smw vanilla we fell inlove with. No only does the hack have a well defined vision of smw, it has custom music made by the creator himself, Danofmosttrades, that is both creative and a pleasure to listen to.

This was a very easy Kaizo hack (which I would expect to teach newcomers a multitude of Kaizo mechanics), and it doesn't do much to teach players such things. The hack only really teaches bouncing on enemies (but no regrabs), basic shelljumps, the disco shell, and not much else. It isn't much fun to play and the levels all feel same-ish. I can't remember something about any level that made it stand out in comparison with the others. The graphics can be weird but are okay, and the soundtrack is rather forgettable. I easily brute-forced my way through the Muncher maze, and I somehow got softlocked on the Muncher submap. (This happened when I entered the submap, as the submap was loaded yet I never got to the level "Nothing munch, you?", I just wasn't there and had to reset.) Anyways, I didn't like this one very much. I hope you improve.

Hi Minish, thanks for your feedback. I am happy to say that I've been working on a hack that strives to master all of the downfalls you touched upon.
-All of my original music will be sampled.
-I went all-out with hand-drawn graphics.
-The game play dives deeper with longer levels, unique obstacles, and original sprites.
Please know that I feel the same as you in terms of these downfalls and learned a lot from this experience.
Thanks again,
-Dan

Overall very solid hack, graphics get a little weird towards the end with the muncher shells and the final boss but otherwise very fun and beginner friendly :)

Hey ho,

also just started playing rom hacks and after finishing BabyKaizo I tired Robfather World.

Very good hack with a nice lore and good aesthetics. Really really liked it and I am looking forward to Robfather World II.

Well done

Hey guys,

I'm new to the community so first of all: hello everyone!

Just finished this hack.
It's pretty nice! Perfect hack for beginners, I guess!

It teaches you perfectly first plattforming mechanics without any spectacular shelljumps.
Really liked that!

Thanks for sharing that hack with us!

I'm pretty new to Kaizo and this is the first rom hack I finished. Thanks for a great game.

Also, those cats were cute :)

Brings me good memories. Good starter hack. Kaizo-ish? Banger music. Killer sprites. Hype to see what Robfather World 2 brings.
Reinddeer Link
Good fun, especially for players starting out, with a little bit of difficulty but nothing unachievable with a little practice.
TrendzAndz Link
That was very fun to play as a player starting out!

I liked the incentive to explore several levels to get the secret exit. The color palettes in the levels were pleasant to look at, and the soundtrack was very fitting and enjoyable! (especially the track that is in Newton's Litter Box is a banger)

This is the first hack I played. Now I'm hooked!
Thank you for making this.

Easily one of my favorite hacks. I love the aesthetics and absolutely adore the music. Is there any way you can make the music available for download? (or maybe upload it to youtube?)

Just finished the hack. Robfather World has become my favorite hack, can't wait for part II!
callmedoor Link
Really neat hack. Some of the sprites towards the end are kind of hard to get used to if you aren't used to the hitboxes associated with the reskinned sprites.

That aside, the music and level design was pleasant and manageable for beginners. Give this a shot if you are looking to ease into Kaizo before attempting other hacks.

I have to say, that I read the comments before downloading and playing a Hack.
With comments this positive I was a bit hyped to play this hack. Sadly it wasn't that good as I hoped it would be.

I will start with the good things first:
This Hack is still a solid Hack. You can find nice and easy Levels. If you want to start to play Kaizo for yourself, this one is a good chance to start with.
I liked playing the first few levels but later on this hack wasn't that much fun.
The palettes in the later stages looked a bit strange, there were stacked munchers all over the place and every level felt almost the same. I wished for a bit more variation.
The Mole-Muncher graphics felt a bit wired, too.

Still I think this is a solid hack and it seems that I am the only one with discomforts. ^^

I just want to thank you all for the incredible support. This has been a crazy experience and I've learned a whole lot from all of the feedback. I am going to do my best to make a top notch sequel.

However, I had a problem with the game loading Mario back into the level after death sometimes. That may just be the emulator though.

I have heard other people say that! It's like some levels the Retry takes almost twice as long. I will look into the issue and see if there are any fixes. Thanks for bringing it up, as well as the very kind words.

I just downloaded this hack, expecting that it would be another average hack. Little did I know, that I downloaded one of my favorite hacks yet. The music, level design, and color palette are all superb. I also enjoyed the name of the levels. I beat the hack in about an hour, so it is good for beginners.

Other than that, a really fun hack!

awesome level design, really fair for a kaizo, and esthetics are really good and secret exit is really creative

This hack is absolutely incredible and I've just finished beating it for the 10th times (not even joking). Remy's squeaky toys is my favorite level (I love shell jumps).

I really enjoy this as my first "Kaizo" hack. Only took about 3 hours to beat initially. Great music as well.

Very fun beginner hack, specially enjoyed the star world levels.
Nice palettes and beautiful pattern type backgrounds, haven't seen that before.
I liked the music and the continuity of the sound throughout, I thought the loops were a little short sometimes but not a big deal.
There were a couple of tricks that took a little testing to figure out.

Definitely would play part II and hope to see more hacks in this difficulty range.

Nice work

Really fun, chill hack. Meant to just give it a little taste test at first, as I was working on another hack... I ended up beating it on a first continuous playthrough. Clearly I found it engaging. Aesthetics and music are on point, difficulty is easy-breezy if you're already familiar with kaizo. Very unique feel to it.
Zorpheaus From older version: Robfather World Link
Best hack I've ever played. Aesthetics- Amazing. Music- Amazing. Platforming- Incredible flow and no jank. Perfect amount of kaizo to improve the flow of the game while keeping it fun for beginners.
I personally enjoy the small cheese of going over the level twice in the speedrun, finding speed strats that dont really break the game, but save a few seconds, is one of the most fun things about new hacks!
phaelox From older version: Robfather World Link
This is only my second kaizo hack I completed and first I've 100%'ed, and I loved every minute of it. Visuals, palettes, level design, I think they are all great. There's even secrets to be found. The music deserves a separate shout-out, because a lot of music tends to get annoying when you're grinding a level, not the case here.

This might be the single best beginner hack right now, to dip your toes into the kaizo waters. There's lots of coin indicators to make clear where you're going. This hack will help a kaizo beginner improve their skills on for example disco shells, ball-n-chains, fuzzies and general fast & precise platforming. I disagree with another reviewer saying there are too many shell jumps. There's not that much and they are very fair and fairly easy.
bamanin From older version: Robfather World Link
I consider myself a decent-ish vanilla Mario player but haven't been able to get into Kaizo despite trying several "light" Kaizo hacks. This one, however, seems to be just my speed so far. It seems I can take on several levels in one sitting (rather than wasting hours and never beating 1 level like with other hacks). I die a lot, but I feel like I make steady progress. And unlike kaizo "training" hacks and whatnot that just showcase tricks, it's a fun experience, with great level design, graphics, and music. Would really recommend this for newbies like me who are trying to "git gud".

Hi, guys. I made a medium-sized oopsie for those who have reached the message box at the Level 7 checkpoint. You might be confused by the current message, as it is out-dated from a beta version with different color palettes.

Please do not click unless you have reached Level 7!

The message box in the pipe is supposed to read:
A hidden passage-
Four hidden clues-
Found in places
with changes of hue

This should clear things up just a tiny bit more, but still cryptic enough to be fun.

Thank you for your patience.

Really easy hack, probably the easiest Kaizo:light hack yet. There's a few skips I don't agree with.
In RF's Revenge you can shell jump over a wall where you're supposed to use the "shell" to kill the "Moles." If you told me it was on purpose though I'd believe you and just go along with it.
Good hack, look forward to what you got in the future.

Thank you for your feedback. That bit was not intended, but that's some really juicy cheese. I'll have to make a decision about it. Great find.

As for a future hack, it will have to be a bit harder to keep up with Robfather's skill level. Thank you for your interest!

Playtester. I love the speed strats. Feedback of differently skilled players (complete beginners, to known experts) helped to optimize this for "go slow" or "go fast" methods in most areas. Setups are usually good for first play apprehensiveness or speed grinding. The baller music makes retrying tougher sections much more pleasant. I really love the music in this.

I had a lot of fun playtesting this and Dan took notes well because the launch version is incredibly fun. A fun platformer with just a few kaizo tricks thrown in from time to time to keep you on your toes. Definitely recommend it to anyone looking to get started in kaizo or just looking for a fun speed game.

This is a really fun beginner hack. The colors, the platforming and robfather are all great. Also the original soundtrack is really good as well. Definitely had a fun time with this one. Plus the level names gave me a nice little chuckle.
