After over two years of development, The Tale of Elementia - Demo 2 is here at last!

Mario is instructed to guard the castle from intruders while Peach and Toadsworth leave to meet with the Beanbean Kingdom. However, while searching the castle, Mario discovers a strange book...

The hack contains 27 full levels, 20 of which are brand-new, and 7 that return from the previous demo. It contains custom music, new, hand-drawn graphics, and plenty of custom blocks and sprites as well! The three worlds featured in the demo can be accessed in any order.

I hope you enjoy it! Please contact me if you have any questions/feedback!

~

Credit to Blind Devil for taking his time to port the hack to a new ROM and fix various issues.

Best hack ever, in my opinion.

Yes, the hack is cancelled. I just went through fixing this demo because it was a pretty nostalgic and inspiring hack for lots of people, myself included.

And since I'm at it, here's a brief review of mine: This was easily one of my favorite hacks due to how well the story was pulled of, with decent level design (apart from babysitting), decent handmade GFX, and the overall Zelda-esque feeling. It's an easy hack, but even so, it provides a good bunch of fun. I wish this project could be completed.

Surprizingly enough there is an update??
Wasnt this hack canceled years ago?

Honestly, one of a handful of hacks I really wanted to see continue.
Unfortunately, the best ones are the ones that get discontinued.
It may have aged some, but it's still a legitimate Mario experience.

Really a kind of boring hack, but it's excused because it was made almost a decade ago. I know a lot of people have nostalgia for this hack, but be aware that this hack didn't age very well. If you decide to play this, expect to see a lot of item babysitting-centered design and shoddy graphics. If anything, I can commend the hack for having a lot of charm and visible effort put into it, but ultimately it fails to live up to modern standards.

instruction manual says use Lunar IPS to patch to rom

I wasn't getting that myself oddly enough, but it should be fixed now. Sorry for the inconveniences.

"The patch is not intended for this rom."

Same as Mariotag. Archive seems to be broken.
And me is surprised to see an update - wasnt it said the hack has been canceled since you werent happy with it?

One of a fair few hacks I would want to see completed.

Unfortunately, this fixed version doesn't seem to patch right.
Says unsupported compression method when I try to unzip, and it says unsupported patch format when I use fips.

Too bad it isn't finished it's actually pretty fun hack!

Added. Thanks for reporting! I'm surprised this of all hacks wasn't tagged.

I see no fixme tag for this one, even though music breaks on SNES9x and bsnes/higan.

I'm down to fix this very hack when I can.

Subpar at best. It's trying too hard to be creative. Boss battles are aggravating. Needs a lot of work.

This is the best SMW hack. It has fantastic level design, unique gimmicks, a great soundtrack It tells you how many exits you have, and it save prompts when you beat a level. All though there's no cape feather, annoying boss fights, it's shorter than SMW and no item retainer. I couldn't recommend this hack more. I can't wait for the full version.

This hack was beautifully created. the graphics are nice. This hack having a story is awesome in itself. let alone a creative story.
