Name: Super Adventure Island 2 - Hiya Hiya Island (Interior)

Type: Ripped
Purpose: Foreground
Slots Used:
Palette Row(s) Used:
Description: Here is a rip of the foreground of the second section of Hiya Hiya Island, the winter level of Super Adventure Island 2 for SNES.

Moderator edit: removed everything related to the background because it basically kills most palettes that are commonly used, and for little reward since it's just a gradient that can be replicated with an actual HDMA effect. But if you really don't mind palette usage and most common SMW objects having their colors replaced, you can download the original submission with the background gradient included here. Also I've removed some extra Map16 tiles since they're just a palette swap of already included ones. To make up for it I've made 5 more .pal files and one more .map16 file so you can pick the most convenient set. More details in the readme file.

There, I added in a new map16 file and 2 pal files for it so people can have both the stalactites and spikes in the same level (at the cost of palette row 5). Also somehow made the map16 files smaller in size. I guess that's the most versatile this FG rip can get.

Edit: ok, but in order to have both the dark blue stalactites and the spikes you'd have to waste an entire palette row, which again, kills the versatility and ruins colors for common objects.

Well... I'm not going to complain.
Just hope that everybody knows how to HDMA kek

I also hope you noticed that in some palletes the vine/spike tiles looks odd without that "pallete swap"

While you indeed have the option to not use that BG, you (the author) didn't provide means for the casual hacker who doesn't want to deal with palette manipulation to get those colors wasted for the BG back so they can use them for something else. In the end I decided to go with a much more versatile and optimized approach. But yeah, I left a link to the original submission anyway for anyone interested in that BG (see Moderator edit).

I honestly agree with Shiny Ninetales, you have the option of doing either.

You just can simply not use it, as the same as people that just don't use uberasm

i mean maybe dont make 3 palette rows obsolete for a gradient you can insert with uberasm
