cool hack. spammy as hell on enemies, but still fun.

what i really don't like tho,
in bowsers castle, after you defeated bowser, which is so easy you won't get hit a single time, you need to escape the castle after that. a checkpoint after the 'boss-battle' against bowser whould be nice

some minor bugs also,
in the 'huge' world, when you hit the 'huge' blocks, sometimes a keyhole will flicker randomly over the screen lol

levels can also have quite a lot of slowdown

not finished bowsers castle so far, but i think i played enough to give my opinnion.

normally i whould give 3/5 to a hack like this. minor bugs, slowdown, enemy spam, but personally i still had ton of fun with it, i don't know why.

take your 4/5

edit: i also don't like the mario palette. looks so wrong to me.

i see that the mod is locked. i actually know why too. i can thank h.carrel for this. not to put anyone down, but the clone, or part "two" was dogsnot awful. it was a completely broken mod, palletes were eye-searing, and broke every rule that prevents broken mods. i know why you posted the mod here too: to sneak it under the moderators. i personally think the mod was an insult to the dev of the original 100s challenge. sorry, but these things are true and it had to be said.

beat all 88 exits, and only used 100+ save states and 550+ reloads! oh well... i beat it at least! now, time to dissect it!

i will probably use this hack for R&D for my own hack, mainly for a couple sprites and also for learning how pixi works. i cannot get pixi to work to save my life... also, i will play and try to beat the hack before i use anything!

I personally didn't enjoyed this hack. It was way too hard to me.

A fun hack that offers legitimate, fast-paced challenges. I'm happy to say the level of difficulty was not exaggerated, as even the end of World 1 goes beyond the difficulty of any official Mario game. The style is all vanilla Mario, though, so no crazy tricks.

Great difficult hack to "chill" with between Kaizo or hard hacks with broader scope. Because of its mostly short levels, infinite lives, and auto-saving, it offers genuine challenge in short bursts while rarely being so tense as to lead to frustration.

Only major issue with level design is that occasionally you can be led into lava or pits that the camera hasn't quite caught up with yet (happens mostly with wall slides or slopes), but for the reasons above, this isn't particularly frustrating. Sometimes gets enemy-happy with auto-scrollers when they're hard to see approaching as well -- the section of 2-2 before its end goes a little nuts with Shy-Guys when it's easy to outrun the screen.

Music is mostly fitting. Sometimes increases tension. Some tracks are midi versions of New Super Mario Bros. themes. The extra power-ups are nice, though I haven't managed to hold onto any for very long (kind of like Super Mario Bros. 3 in that regard).

A few other things not mentioned in the description:

-Mario's health is a combination of the Super Mario Bros. 3 (US)/New Super Mario Bros. system and Super Mario World. Getting hit in a higher form will reduce him to big Mario rather than small, but getting a higher power up will still put a Mushroom in his inventory that will fall when he goes to one health.
-Getting 100 coins grants brief invincibility rather than a 1-Up, which can be used to push through hard spots. A few times it's hindered me due to the increased speed (usually with wall-jumping/platforming combos).

Some graphical hiccups, but otherwise a really nice hack with mostly solid level design. It's nice to see a hard Super Mario World hack that's fast-paced where nearly each level is fun to replay as you work your way through it.

For the creator: You might want to check level 2-1. At least on my emulator, it wound up with a weird layering/transparency issue. Screnshot here: http://i.imgur.com/0Kj4ZLI.png

H.carrel, why are you advertising your hack on a hack commens section?
Zack-san Link
Because, @pieman83. It's illegal to sumbit .smc files to any video game hacking site. If we submit .smc files, this site will be taken down, and there will be no more SMW Hacks. That's why we download .ips files.

Oh and when you played it there is only 3 worlds in Luigi only 2

Oh in Mario's 100 Challenge not Luigi. I have accidentally left event cutoff ignore that

Why do these keep downloading as .ips files?

@Luansilva12
I never noticed that, but in the smb1 goal sprite and AMK its set to correct audio so idk, I'll try to fix it someday

@Chillahbyte
Items dont save in vanilla SMW and they dont save here either.

Secret exit works as it should, if you cheesed it or used glitches then Im not doing anything about it as the intended solution works.

I noticed that the death song is the course clear song.

Thanks. Also, the keyhole that leads to the Red Switch Palace isn't functioning correctly. Because of this, I can't even unlock everything, AND when the game saves and I leave and come back, I lose all my items. Fix it please?

Wait, I think I figured it out. You're supposed to use one of the keys to get a critical component to the secret exit, but I used glitches to bypass it. Then, that left two keys, leaving one nonfunctional.

Its marioE's wall jump patch, you can find it in the patch selection.

@MarioPikachu11
Its "Menu" from 'One Must Fall 2097', you can find it in the music selection.

I have a question, what music is the 50 Coin Bonus Level on Green Island from?

Hack is great! I like the rush of adrenaline in each level, realizing you have only 100 seconds to beat the level. The way it works is also just awesome. By the way, can I have a link to the wall-jump ability thing if there is one?

Good update which fixed a few glitches that were in previous versions.
You may want to take a look at "Vs Sledge bros" in the huge world, since its bg is cutted in parts, like there was a parallax code.

@destroyerrocket
Uhh you can go fast, if you really want to speedrun you will have to learn levels layout, being able to speedrun it perfectly 1st try means its too easy(and thats what I didn't want to do)..

@Dark Mario Bros
In the newer version it shouldn't be problem(as I tweaked a lot sprite placements and removed some of sprties, so it shouldn't lag/freeze anymore) and I never managed to make it freeze on real hardware, which is also one of reasons why Im against SA-1(other being compatibility with patches and tools). But thanks, nice to hear something positive for once :).
Dark Mario Bros From older version: Mario's 100s Challenge Link
I played it to the end, I really enjoyed the hack, but in some parts the game was freezing a lot, maybe because of the number of sprites
use some SA-1 stuff wouldn't be a bad idea, I think so.

Also, I loved the Idea of the 100 seconds challenge, the bonus area
where pretty challenge too, I hope to see more hacks like this in future

so, I think thats all, Keep Working! #peace -DMB

I played all the game, and I have to say that it is one of the best games I've played!!! good work!

but it have 2 foults: if the objective of the game is go fast, make able to go making a speed run, and make the powerups more abundant(clasify it in zones if you want)

I dropped the hack at the end of World 1. It wasn't a bad hack, but it was very hard, a kind of hard that I personally didn't enjoy very much.

I love how everything fits together so well in this hack - the graphic style is very consistent and everything looks beautiful. The music also seemed fitting from what I played.

The leveldesign was what I didn't enjoy that much. Even though it was World 1, the levels had some really difficult sprite set ups that are hard to pass through. Speedrunning through them, as required by this hack, was simply not fun for me after a little while. Generally I felt there were simply too many sprites to allow for speedrunning, since you had to dodge everything really carefully.

I also didn't get used to the walljumping physics. While they were introduced in a tutorial level they still seemed odd to me after I already played a while. I think they are supposed to replicate the NSMB-series' walljump physics, but SMW's jumping and running physics etc. are very different from NSMB's, probably that's the reason why it was hard to get into it. Some World 1 levels already required pretty precise walljumping though, which did frustrate me a bit.

Another unfun point for me was that nearly every level had a secret exit. Those weren't fun to search for because of the intense time pressure, and there were simply too many of them. Most of them unlocked some kind of bonus level on the overworld, which is neat, but I also felt there were too many of those (you can already see four different kinds of bonus level unlocked in World 1 at the overworld screenshot).

Overall, this seems like a good hack with neat graphics and challenging leveldesign (as far as I can judge from World 1). I personally didn't enjoy it due to the points mentioned above, but I recommend you to try it if you are an experienced SMW-hack player, to see if it fits your taste.

@Kdeee I know! But it is that I play on real hardware, and I feel that sometimes tired my vision, everything else is perfect.
JP32 Author From older version: Mario's 100s Challenge Link
@Lucas why? If its too dark then just turn brightness up in your monitor..
Lucas From older version: Mario's 100s Challenge Link

@Kdeee Ok! Friend, could send me a version where the worlds that appear dark, appear with normal brightness to play in the game?
JP32 Author From older version: Mario's 100s Challenge Link
@Lucas Its disabled so that one cant easily get custom powerups(they are supposed to be rare/hidden/etc) or to replay certain levels for unlimited powerups.

Also theres new update for this in the "Waiting Super Mario World Hacks" selection, play that version instead of this(until it gets accepted).

Played this. I must say that I really loved the main concept of the short time limit, always giving that tension that made each level very fun to go trough. A little complain I have, though, is how you handled the difficulty, in particular, from mid-world 2 till the end, where everything started getting a bit too frustrating (like in the level where you're required to wall-jump next to sideways piranha plants and venuses).

Either way, a good hack, really worth accepting. Although, I'd suggest you to update this when you can, since I spotted many, many, errors. Here are some I found:
- Some of the powerups can kill the goal flag (I accidentally shoot a boomerang next to it and... lol).
- Level transistions when HDMA is in there is buggy. The HDMA still shows when loading to the next level, and it's weird to see. Easily fixable with this.
- In the overworld, I liked how each world had a star portal that linked all worlds together. This made possible that, in each new world, you go in the portal and unlock the way by walking. Sadly, this doesn't happen for world 4 and world 4b, which will still be unable to be unlocked.
- In the battle with Bowser, the music does weird glitches when he is defeated. I assume the bowser sprite you used is still arranged in the way addmusic4 works. If possible, have someone to fix this for you.
- I experienced a fatal freeze here, seems that rom crashed because enemies tend to get too much in number in this spot. Rare enough though, but still a thing.
- Get testers, since there are lots of misc silly errors around your hack.

Again, worth accepting, but it would be nice if you could fix everything mentioned. 3/5 for now.
