I've triad a lot and while they are extremely well put together graphic, level and music wise they're just a bit too difficult for me.
Heck, I only barely got to the forest stage in SMW.
Thank you for making a hack for the few of us who are casual players.
I like the Nintendo "feel". Some might say it's boring and stale but I for one, play games to relax.
Thank you.
I love choconilla hacks and here everything is just perfect, your level design is great, just a bit too linear but still pretty good, the music is also good and the visuals are nice, to be honest this is one of your best looking hacks in the graphics department.
The only issue I have is the Bowser boss fight at the end, it can get very unfair because sometimes he just wont spawn any shells to throw back at him, so he unavoidable end up cornering the player on the wall and when that happens guess what? the player has to redo an long-ass Castle level with no checkpoints all over again every time.
Besides that, Its one of my favorite hacks ever.
So I rate this 4/5 stars.
How can I activate the secret passage to reach the third switch? (It seems you can not)
PD: very good hack :o
Graphics: 20/20 - very good.
Level design: 20/20 - well designed levels, even though they're very linear.
Fun and difficulty curve: 17/20 - it's surely a fun hack, and the difficulty curve progresses nicely.
Musics: 17/20 - good soundtrack, but nothing fantastic.
Overworld and other things: 16/20 - the OW is nice. Custom sprites and ASM stuff are also good things here.
Overall: 90/100 - Hack recommended!
The custom bosses are pretty awful to be honest, they're more annoying than anything because they do stuff randomly which often means spawning something that kills you exactly when you jump on them. Also one of them can just walk off the level killing itself without actually ending the level.
And Bowser isn't actually beatable I'm pretty sure. I've knocked him into the lava three times and it just doesn't do anything, he just respawns. Being near the lava pit doesn't end the level either. Doesn't help that the odds of actually getting a shell are so absurdly low he usually just walks all the way to the left cornering and killing you.
The visuals are the main focus in this hack and sadly that is basically all it got. Great use of vanilla graphics though, if only the level design got the same amount of love.
Levels not that special, minus points for bosses and secret exits. 2/5
Firstly I commented here because I thought the game doesn't offer the ability to save, but I found out that it auto-saves so that's great ! Do you do this with all of your games ?
I like all in this hack : the overworld, which is one of the best I've ever seen with this pretty DKC-inspired island. You paid attention to all details, in the overworld and in levels too. I particularly loved the glass-like castle #6.
However, I was able to find only 81 exits (without using savestates)... Did I miss something of the 82nd is the last level with Bowser ? To this point, and to answer to Paddy, to kill the last boss you have to use green shells to push Bowser into lava. The problem is that the shells spouted appear to be quite random, as sometimes he doesn't give one, and sometimes he gives 3 in a raw and right in the beginning of the fight, which lets you kill him in a few seconds.
To conclude, this is a very great game with good music and very pretty levels.
10/10 (5 stars) Thank you very much !

Exactly what I posted about this hack a few days ago, but the hack now seems to have been re-uploaded so all previous comments (mostly negative) have disappeared. Boring levels with similar designs, regardless of the theme used, and a final Bowser that's hard to beat, and once you finally do, it doesn't do anything so the game can technically not be finished. These things need to be checked before upload, rather basic I'd have thought.
The level design is solid and well put-together, and the visuals are very well-done. The mixture of original tilesets and new palettes is impressive and a nice treat on the eyes. Nothing about any of the levels for me, however, stood out at all. They all have a "been there, done that" feel to them. All the levels seem to mesh together with no unique identity to any of them. Pretty much all of them have the standard left to right deal.
There are several secret paths and exits throughout the hack, but none are particularly challenging to track down. The secret levels have nothing that stand out from the others to warrant their hidden status, but then again, you don't have to put much effort into finding them.
When all is said and done, I think this is an "okay" hack: 3 out of 5 stars.
Is there a update ?
