Ohmigosh, so much has happened! I've only been in two forums and post count has just exploded.

Everything so far looks good. I'm going to start writing a Alcy backstory, I'll post that later.

That looks like a cool level, MetalJo! My only problem would be with the tiles where the honey sort of 'melts' into the stone. I think it would look better with the outline like it usually does.

Also, Q-bee, any thoughts on my song yet? Can I send it in?

@Egadd: Nice to know about having something more for Alcy. I've been thinking on using it as a Yoshi replacement, or maybe a Baby Yoshi that never grows, but can eat things. Looking forward to your ideas, anyway.

@Metal: Looking preety neat so far. And yeah, same as Moose commented about the ground. With outlines the honey will look better.

@Moose: Your Intro Cutscene song is wonderful and catchy, and I've already inserted it into the Base. And your gloomy theme originally made for the Spirit's Lair has touched my heart. Loved the @7 used here in a very different way than the usual. No words to describe how I felt when hearing it. Just lovely.

I think it can be used in the hack anyways, either as the Spirit's Lair Map theme or the Final Cutscene, right after defeating the Evil Spirit. I'd like as the latter, but I would like to know what the others think. Map theme or Final Cutscene?

Anyway, you can send me the TXT file whenever you want.

New Base with Moose's Intro Cutscene composition inserted and a little event path fix on Heaven Valley submap.

Also I may delay a bit on my level. I tried to do something without creativity and inspiration. It hasn't worked. I'll wait until I actually get decent design ideas before I can restart my level.

Hmm... let's be sincere here.

I didn't really like your level. There were a few unfair parts, especially in the beginning with those footballs, and some weird object placements. The skull raft section in the beginning is a bit claustrophobic, and it's very hard to dodge the second Blargg before the raft falls to the lower lava level. Lots of sections felt a bit lazy, for example from screens 05 to 0A, where I could bypass the raft section and just go over Winged Goombas repeatedly. On screen 13 I almost hadn't timing enough to dodge the shell kicked by the shelless Blue Koopa. I've died countless times there.

Sorry for the harsh opinion, but I think no one will ever improve if we say that something is good when it clearly isn't. You can rework your level from scratch, however, or tell me if you want me to make a heavy edit to the current one so it can become better and more acceptable.

And don't worry about the background. I'll see if I can draw a Layer 3 variation of the current SMW BG, add the Sky Trees and some clouds in the top of the back area.

Well duh.

I felt like the level was just boring. With a fire flower, I could just hop along and kill anything in my way. I didn't die a single time, and I'm probably the worst player here. It was actually easier than the other levels you've done imo. It could also use some serious decoration.

Just wondering, why does this level need a Layer 3 bg?

This was good! The ambiance and atmosphere are the best parts. I do have a couple problems.

1: Wario Dash didn't work on the blocks.

2: Relying on invisible blocks to get to the next part can be a little odd.

3: Could you make it so there are certain places for the Bees to come out? That would make it a little clearer for the players. Maybe just a small block with honey on the bottom or something.

4: Red Stem Piranha Plants.

5: Bee Sprite palettes are bright compared to the other sprites. Not too big of an issue.

6: Above ground, some of the blocks were solid and some weren't. Maybe make them soft platforms?

I also added you to the Sublevel list. I'll assume you wanted 2E for the boss?

For the cutscenes, I'm finishing up Alcy's backstory and I might port a Vince Guaraldi song to make things interesting.

My Heaven Valley level is done. There's a video preview. And there's the Base ROM with my level. I'm providing it more for you guys to playtest because I'm not really sure about its difficulty level.

Now I'll stop a bit of activity here to design a level for xImseiken's project. Then I'll code the Bee Porcu Puffer Boss for the Honey Fortress.

EDIT: The ROM has debug enabled to beat levels with Start+Select.

@Sockbat: Yes, it's approved. Very nice level and pretty creative, too. I only disliked this springboard jump here. It's a very minor babysitting, but the player can be screwed if he does something like that. Well, nothing warrant heavy changes, but maybe a Reset Door. I'll add one when possible.

Ah, yeah, you can send me your resources used (graphics/Map16 are not needed, I can rip from your IPS).

@Metal: You, too, could send me your resources. I don't really know how the Dark Layer code looks like. I need it to insert the level with 100% functionality to the Base.

@Sinc-X: And you're explicitly added to the Compositions list.

@Egadd: My sublevels are 2C and 2D. Whoa, Metal has, like, guessed how many I'd use for my level and left those unused. Or something like that. Well, these ones are mine anyways. And when I insert Sockbat's level, I'll move his sublevel FF to 30.

Guys, Moose sent me the SPC of his most recent theme (the gloomy one), and I'll insert it for the next update. It'll be used on the first portion of the Final Cutscene.

If you're wondering about the second portion, we'll probably reuse the Intro Cutscene theme. I have some ideas on mind.
