Dark Side of the Kingdom .update new intro!

Standard

Hey ;) Going to report some bugs here:
I've played through the first two levels, the River level and the water level yet. The overworlds are great <3
Let's start with the first 2 levels: I like the idea of starting with classic nostalgic levels like this, but my biggest complain is the leveldesign. It's pretty ok, but a hack like this needs levels which are designed with more love. I don't mean the graphics, I absolutely like the vanilla graphics and palettes, but I mean the asthetics in general: There are 10 block long bushes, which just doesn't look good in my opinion, on some screens there's a bit of koopa spamming, they are all moving different and this causes confusion and just looks chaotic. These levels weren't bad but there could be players who stop playing when they see that there's not much effort and love (how it looks like) putted in these 2 starting levels. Sorry for being rude D:
I found a bug in this level, but I think it's very hard to fix. It happened when I crashed into the turn blocks with the Wario Dash ability:

Anyways, the other two levels I've played are very, very well done.
The underwater level was pure awesomeness, I've got nothing to complain there. So much love in leveldesign and atmospheric aspects, as well as decoration.
The River level was really good, too, but it had some slowdown all over the level. Found two bugs there:

In both places, I cand jump over the ceiling easyly. In the first screenshot, I can use the piranha plant to skip stuff. Just a nitpick though. But in the second screenshot, I can jump over there, and if I do, I'm stuck down there forever. This should be fixed ;)

Well, finally, showing you how my level's going to be like:

I tried to get the honey palettes into it, but didn't get it. I think it looks good how it is anyway (: Sorry for bad english
@Egadd: Yes, the outro needs work. And for Level 17, the vanilla music for the outside section is placeholding a future composition. This will be changed in the future.

As for making a remix specifially for the Honey level... while I think it's a good idea, I tried to make the Main Water Theme general purpose. If I ever made a variation, my level would be the only one to use it. And this would feel strange. At least for me.

@mrdeppelman: Thanks so much for pointing those details. I knew I was forgetting something else on level 12. I mean, I forgot to apply the Ceiling Generator into it (and it will be applied to all levels as well).

About the Wario Dash Blocks bug, yeah. It'll always end up "breaking" the tile above the broken block. But it can be fixed if I make another block variation that breaks alone instead of breaking the twin row.

I mean:

[] > new block. Gets broken by Wario Dash, without shattering the above tile.
[] > currently used block. Gets broken by Wario Dash and also shatters the above tile.

This should completely fix the issue, in parts. If you hit the upper new turn block it'll spin. After that it'll spawn the regular turn block which has the same behavior as the bottom one. Holy mother, what now?

And regarding your showoff, it's looking very nice. Liked how you mixed the Forest Ledge pattern with the Grassland one. And the palettes are cool - they fit perfectly on the submap.

On another note, don't worry about your English. It's understandable, at least, and I know the effort you need to make to write well. We, non-native speakers, can do mistakes sometimes.

EDIT: Read again the Wario Dash Block part and you'll know. and lol edited like 10+ times

I would like to claim:
019 W3 (Fortress) -unclaimed-

I want to do a ruin. A really dark ruin. Where are holes in the ceiling.
Light is coming through these holes. I'll do it like in this level of my hack (just 2 lines in Level.asm + Layer 2):

You can go through these holes and go outside.

I don't see how a dark ruin could fit in a Honey world.Looks likes something that would fit in world six or seven. Or is it a Honey Ruin.
Btw level 19 can be yours.

Well, it's a Fortress level. It can be like ruins, but making use of some honey-ish details. I've been thinking about sticky honey blocks, for example.

@MetalJo: Welcome! And your name has been added. Also, I'm surprised of having you as our new teammate. I've always been a fan of your work, and definitely, my expectations here are high.

I've got some "little" progress on my Heaven/Hell Valleys submap:

Only paths and events are remaining. Maybe some more deco, too, I don't know...

I got a few bugs fixed in the current Base yesterday after the latest update, especially the Sumo Flame one that happened on Egadd's level (the game crashes when the bolt touches the ground). Since I couldn't be done with the Wario Dash blocks update yet, I'll update the Base tomorrow, hopefully.

Heh, my level is a problem child. Sure is fun though.

Anyway, that mine idea looks really cool MetalJo! I hadn't looked at your work til this morning, but it really looks good! Hopefully you'll pull off the same level of greatness for our hack!

The submap is looking really good! I do think the transition could use a little more work, but it looks good none the less.

And just for giggles: aadjfgkdsrtgsbnt54a4wESgyfxu
Wow, Q-Bee, this is one amazing map you've got there °_° I would just mention the waterfall thing what was already mentioned in the s&v-thread ^^
Also, showing some progress of my honey forest introduction level:

If you jump straight up with the springboard (the blue coin shows this to) you will hit a block with a 1up on top. Yeah, I try to hide 1ups different than others do ;D Also, the level is 3/8 finished. By the way, it includes some climbing net passages which are defended by lotus flowers and pitching chucks. I try not to make it harder than world 3 is supposed to be.
I've played through the level i forgot yesterday (Something Mountain Something) and it was a nice challenge getting through the level without getting the game broken by sume brothers ;D Took me a few minutes, but it's possible with some use of the L and R buttons and shells :D
(By the way, this is one of the best collab hacks i saw, but really big, and I don't EVER want this being cancelled! If you do so, I'm going to finish it on my own xD)

You read my mind. That's something I've been thinking on saying if that was the case.

On topic, I'm liking your level a lot. The Yoshi Coin placed below the Volcano Lotus is a good challenge. And aesthetically, it's very full of life. Very well colored and decorated. Keep up the great work!

Offtopic:
And the 'aadjfgkdsrtgsbnt54a4wESgyfxu' thing is seeming not to work on our posts aside from the one Nariofan did in WoI. I've even placed those hidden in my footer and Bio, but no avail.

Sort of sucks really. I'm sick today and have been checking out the ad every half hour or so to no avail.

@deppel, that looks really good! I suck at making forest levels, but the variety of decor really makes it great!

Also, what exactly was making Sumo Bros. crash my level? Other than the claustrophobic aspects that should have been pretty much fine tuned in my later testing...I may need to check out the level later. It worked fine when I tried it though...
@Egadd: I don't know, I still wonder, because I downloaded the baserom where I read that it's fixed (I think xD) and still, it crashes the rom when the flames touch the ground.
By the way, thank you Q-bee and Egadd ;) Forest levels are my favourite.
@Egadd: Your level is indeed fine. It happened that I might have accidentally overwritten the Sumo Flame Fix with something else in the current Base.

Tomorrow it will be updated, totally free of this bug. I just need to reinsert this patch somewhere else and that's it. Don't worry.

Awesome OW! Is that the main map from what I see? Awesome work maybe a little more decoratoin but for me ok so!
Alright, I'll just pretend that nothing ever happened #smw{;)}

Anyway, after I cram enough Dream Theater into my system, I'll probably have something to show off for my level. I wonder where DarkBones and his tileset are...
I did some honey castle blocks.

I will use these for the sticky blocks ^^

Holy Mother, this looks epic! That's really impressive!

Oh yeah, high expectations there... Keep up!

MetalJo, I'm not in this team hack, but Crap, that's Beatiful Man! :3
MetalJo: The honey castle blocks are actually quite cool. Keep it up with your awesome redrawings/tilesets!
Windowless ride, feeling alive
Are you alive or just breathing?
Would it be all right if I tried writing something for the intro cutscene? I'm thinking of something happy with light percussion.
Check out my music!

It looks open, so feel free to sign up.

I worked some on my level, trying to go for an isolated cold look. Hopefully I'll have some stuff up tomorrow!
