Cool to see a release of this. I actually came up with an interesting idea for a hack a while ago, and this patch would help out a lot with it, although it'd have to undergo some heavy modifications.
Okay, I've made an updated version of the patch which fixes some bugs and has a couple more added features. Click the download link in the first post and read the readme and stuff.
What about making a sprite/levelASM code that switches off every ability? We can do some other things we can''t with them in every level.
I'm surprised I didn't notice this thread earlier, but anyway, I've been using the updated patches for a while, and I must say that I really like how much more improved this version is over the old version of the patch. It now feels a lot more like the ASM in Yoshi's Island, which is awesome. It was definitely worth the wait. :)

Besides that, I found a glitch (and one odd thing) that I probably should mention here:

- I'm not sure if this is a glitch or not, but if Yoshi bumps his head on a ceiling while flutter jumping, Yoshi bounces downward a lot more than he did in Yoshi's Island. It feels kind of awkward when this happens.

- I noticed that Yoshi is able to grab a springboard with his tongue while he is on top of it, which can allow him to clip through any blocks that are above him. This is the same glitch that can be done with the Yoshi sprite in the original game. Also, the patch that is meant to fix this glitch, doesn't work on this version of the glitch, though.

Seems a bit pointless to me. I think it'd be weird to have Yoshi not have certain abilities in some levels while he still does in others.

That wasn't a glitch. In fact, I did that intentionally to prevent another glitch where Yoshi could basically "ride" along the ceiling with his flutter jump, so I had to make him fall really quickly in order to prevent that. I suppose maybe I could lower his falling speed though.

What about using the cart from DKC2? Yoshi can use his tongbue and shot eggs. The sprite will be nice for some levels.
Gee. I wish I could make it so Yoshi runs faster by holding Y or X, spit out an item a little bit when crouching, and eat berries. But I don't know what to change or add in the ASM file.
