I gotta say, this looks actually really good. The first world has a appropriate difficulty (aka easy as fuck) and it looks nice.

I have a complaint about that part where you have to wait for the P-Switch to expire to get past a wall. It hurts speedrunners and forces the player to wait.

Yea, I wanted to make the first world rather easy, so even a new player could beat the world easily without savestates. Things get a bit challenging from world 2-3 (swamp cave).

Wow, It's really quiet today in the WIP forum, just 2 posts from 1 person ;D.

I started working today on the transition level between World 5 (Cave) and World 6 (Mountains). Starting of 5 screens or so in a vertical cave level:



Yay, a double progress post.

I made a lot of progress yesterday and today, finishing the Transition level between World 5 (Cave) and 6 (Mountains), but also made a start on the transition level between World 2 (Forest) and 3 (Ruins).

Here are some screens of the second part from Transition W5+W6



Info: The second part uses a rocky grassland tileset with a Vanilla BG. This is actually the first level I made for this hack with bullet bills XD.

And here from the other level:



Left Screenie: As the title says, this level starts out in a forest with some goomba's.
Middle Screenie: Slowly but steady you get in the first ruins section.
Right Screenie: Here you're almost at the midway point, which is how far I came today. There are still some forest aspects, but the main theme is ruins now.

A lot of sprites need to be added yet, hopefully explains the empty screens.

I also updated the main post with a lot of screenies from all the worlds, check it out!

More Progress!

I..... Finished World 1 today! #smw{:TUP:}

I inserted Alfred the Stone's level he made a few weeks ago and added a custom boss into Castle #1 Tumblin' Thwomps. Could have done this a lot earlier, but I was too lazy. I hope I can finish the last W2 Forest level somewhere tomorrow, that would also mean World 2 is finished, which means my hack'd be over 30%!

Some Screenies.



Left Screenshot: This is a homing thwomp boss, moves exactly like the "ahem" Overused "Ahem" bomb thomp boss, but is invunerable and doensn't spawn any enemies. I made a 7 screen level around it where you have to dodge it.
Right Screenshot: Also comes with some "mad" thwomps, which continuously go up and down like an idiot.



This level was made by Alfred the Stone, my co-worker. I think he did a great job with this pretty easy grassland level inspired by NSMBWii and NSMB2 lvl 1-1.

Here are some screenshots of the final missing level in World 2, called Treetop Trail or Treetop Trials. It's near completion, I just need some sprites to replace and some sections to improve.

Well, I lost my inspiration on this hack a few days ago and decided to take a break to test all my levels. I improved a lot in design since I started this hack, so I took a look at my first world and improved everything. I'm sorry, no new screenshots for now, but expect some really soon!

Desert level 2 is almost finished now, called Boomerang Blast. It contains just a few enemies, but focuses on boomerang bros and goomba's (yea, that underused sprite).


Luckily you can walk under the first Boomerang Bro, although you first have to kill that goomba to get past it.


Also piranha plants make their return in this level.


I hope that looks harder then it is!


Those gliding koopas make it pretty hard to go up this sand dune.


More pipes! I should watch out for piranha plants!

Although things look well done, the lack of having a consistent graphical style bothers me. Not saying it's bad - that's just something that I wouldn't do if I was in your place.

(That's something I would say to almost everybody here. It's a common issue.)
