Hello everyone. It's been quite awhile since I've made a thread in this part of the forum. I'm back though with some progress to show from a new hack that I'm working on. This hack is planned to be relatively short at about maybe 20 levels. There isn't much of a story and I'm not sure if I really plan on setting one up. Whatever happens along the way happens though.

I have a WIP OW here.

...and a video of a random level.
Level 07.

Opinions?
It looks very good! But, you know that in the forest submap there is cutoff, right?. But everything looks good, and the palette is good
Really Nice OW's there. Great job on that.
I also like the mixed tileset and Level Design. But why not changing the tree bushes with the priority on so you'll go behind it? That'll make it much interesting I think.

Actually, I had some cool priority tricks going on while making this level. But it looked kind of weird jumping UP through a platform while under a tree and suddenly being behind it when you land because of priority. It didn't look to good in my opinion and seemed inconsistent. Not to easy explaining that clearly. I hope you know what I mean though! Thanks for the tip , I really appreciated the feedback #w{=)}
Its not everyday I get to see orange and purple together! #smw{>_>} I like it. The only nitpick I see is the donut bridges without that rail.

That's a pretty unique pallete there. Although, the tree's don't look the greated(the purple ones), so it might be worth editing it.

Other then that #smw{<3}
Later.
Just found out where all these Mario emoticons were coming from lol... Anyway, that levels palette... it is very well mixed! Also the palettes and the design for the OW is looking good so far #smw{:TUP:}

Thanks so much for the comments guys :) means a lot.

OK. New progress on a level I'm working on. Same world as the previous so a somewhat similar theme.

Image!

what do you think?
Is WAFF's skull in there too? #smw{:(}

Looks neat so far! I would suggest darkening the dots in the grassland dirt though.

So here is just a small graphical update.
I felt like I needed to update as it has been a little while.

Still a WIP.
It's looking pretty good so far Jonny, I have no complaints.

Keep up the good work!
Later.
Looks very Sonic-y, I'm liking that. #smw{:TUP:}
I'm loving everything there, specially your OW. :)

Not sure about this last tileset though, the walls are seeming quite empty for me. Try adding some grassy stuff in it (although I guess you already thought on doing so at some point).
It's easily the best thing I've done
So why the empty numb?
I am pretty amazed with your showoffs. They're nice in overall, from palette environments to level design.

That's what I really like to see, and why I encourage people on doing original things. They may be quite simple, but pretty awesome.

Good luck there, man. I'm expecting a quality work from you.

I'd tone down the yellow grass if I were you, it seems a bit bright to me. But overall, it's looking pretty good. Keep it up!

The dark grassy ledges (not the checkered ones) clash just a bit with the checkered ones, so you may want to shift the green towards a bluish or yellowish tint (either way from how it is now) and try to "fade" it towards the BG's palette.

I like those "UFO" clouds. Definitely fits a Sonic- or Kirby-like atmosphere.

Lastly, give the blue water some texture (there's nice looking water in the World 4 beaten cutscene GFX) so it looks like water and not part of the gradient.

Looks nice, keep it up.

Wow, I'm amazed on what this hack has gotten for feedback in the short while I was offline for a few days. Thank you so much everyone!

Ok anyway...on to some progress. I took a lot of your thoughts and used them for this. Just a few screenshots.

...Not much since this is mainly just the idea but what do you all think so far?

EDIT: Replaced Para-bomb with Para-Goomba.
Very nice! It really captures that Sonic/Kirby fusion even better than before. A few nitpicks though:

The edge of the tree canopy should be darkened, and the canopy itself should be a richer, brighter green.

Maybe fade the whitecaps on the ocean a tiny bit, or lighten the water color just a hair.

Otherwise, splendid work!
