Though yours was obviously a joke post...

1) Who says I don't care about my hacks?
2) Who says this is a joke post? It happens to be a legitimate screenshot from when I legitimately and accidentally crashed a rom.

Oh...sorry. I legitimately thought that was a joke post.

Anyway, the point is not that people with high post counts are gods. A lot of good hackers have lower post counts then other less-prone-to-hacking users. It's about the kids who make this, this or this and submit them to the site.
That's like asking everybody who wants to vote in the elections to actually listen to the person they're voting for!

Damn they look amazing I especially like the yellow time hack ;)

Also why do you hate newbies like me trying to take hack submission away from me and other noob hackers :(

It's not people like you, you've been here for a while (happy one year anniversary), though you're not much of poster, you have content in your posts and you sincerely care about your hack.
Our community doesn't discriminate users based on their postcount or their registration date. Most of us think these aspects are completely irrelevant and don't make you a better hacker or user. If newer users usually make crappy hacks, that's because they have little hacking experience, but that's not the case with everyone, in fact a some people don't register until they're familiarized with Lunar Magic, thus imposing a minimum amount of posts or time in the site before you can submit a hack would be very arbitrary. Not to mention that, just because somebody has a certain amount of posts or time in the site, it doesn't mean they will become better hackers.

Also, the reason why we write removal logs to help people to improve their hacks. If we don't give people a chance to submit their crappy hacks, even if they're going to be rejected, those people are never going to improve because they won't receive any criticism.

For some people.

I would fall on Egadd's point: It's actually really complicated to elaborate, as idea. Because, yes, that would decrease the number of shitty submission, but i don't know if people would then spam the forums because of this.

But it's pretty right what he said, when people submit obviously shitty submission, they just don't give a fuck. And they will never give it! There are few people who would want to improve for real, true (My first submission was a shit, really) but other people just come here for the sake of posting "super gollum world over 9000 super star edition v.0.6dick". those are people who don't care at all. And Egadd said it right about this. But mods try anyway. I think that would be good, but every idea (i mean EVERY) can have bad consequences: If we don't allow people posting submission before posting in forums, as said before, one would come to spam forums so he can have is own horrible submission. Then, if there is one inactive user who wants to submit a cool serious submission, mods would point in rules they avaiable to submit these for them. But what if everyone would spam the PMbox of mods? That would be unpleasant, totally! Pratically nothing would change. The only things i just miss are the sarcastic comments of mods (Like The Kins used to) towards crappy lol submissions. But other than that, it would not change anything. Then we will see Kieran what wants to do: it's up to him. If he doesn't care, though, too bad.

So you (some) people, it's not the case to go against Egadd saying he says only bullshits, especially you more popular ones, because this makes you biased and seems you just want to raise your own ego instead of genuinely contradicting someone.

Just noting, I never said this was perfect. Like Dinomar said, it has its strengths and weaknesses.

I hadn't really thought about mods posting hacks, only friends like a couple of LimeMaster's examples. Dinomar also brought up the topic of spamming inboxs with submissions. But the mods don't have to submit it for review, and if the person spams their inbox, they can always ban them for a couple hours (though the masses may cry out at our authoritarian dictators, but meh). People who want to improve would want to ask questions and such on the forums, a man is not an island. With the complexity of today's hacking, throwing together a compilation of crap isn't viable. I'm not saying that n00b hackers are bad. It's just the guys who post crap and never improve it.
Yeah, but you cannot assume every new user will have a shitty submission. And how would you know if a user is new? Perhaps they have been browsing around the site for a while but did not create an account until ready to submit a hack? In that case, they are technically not "new" to the site, only their account is "new"

Sounds like way too much extra work for the mods than it's worth.
Just let them do what they're here for: moderate the submitted hacks and -> actually offer feedback for those people instead of downright not allowing them to post their hacks <-.

We're not just a database for resources, we're also here to help peeps out with their hacks.

Egadd has an excellent idea! He just simply needs to refine it a little more.

1. How much time should a user spend on the site before their hacks have a chance of being submitted? Further, how much of this time needs to be spent actually -on- the site reading the hacking section? Does time spent reading Talk and WoI count as time spent on the site for this purpose?

2. How many posts does the user need to make? And how many of those posts need to be in SMW hacking-related forums? If a user makes a post in the WoI, does that count toward the minimum post count? What if the post was hacking-related but was in, say, Gaming or Art?

3. Do posts and time on other SMW hacking sites count toward their minimum time/postcount here? The Talkhaus is a perfectly legitimate SMW hacking site, so does spending time there and posting there count toward the minimum postcount/time here? If so, will we need a conversion table to go from Talkhaus posts and time to SMWC posts and time?

4. Having considered all of this, do you think that any staff member would care about postcount or time spent on the site? Because I don't.

But in seriousness, I agree with Camerin. The current system works fine as it is. The only problem ever faced by it was some odd removal reasons, but now with us being able to reply to these threads, we can ask mods why they have these odd reasons.

- BlackMageMario
You could take me as a good example.
I joined in 2009, yet I only have a bit more than 170 posts.
I've been inactive, ever since I joined. Back than I just joined to try and submit a hack.
I've become active again in the past months.

Basicly. I have 170+ posts and could make a hack (and currently am) which would pass moderatoin with ease
(If it won't, than just because of some (to mE9 unknowen minor bugs)#

talk about overestimating oneself #w{xD}

Seriously though, I've been into haking since 2007 (or somewhere around that) so I'm pretty much capable of making quality hacks, regardless of my post count.

Exactly. Not to mention we may never know how long somebody has been on this site before creating an account. While E Gadd's logic makes sense, the flaw is that we cannot distinguish the new users from those who have going through the site before creating an account.

To be fair a bunch of people make an account simply to submit a hack. If they made an account, went to submit and saw an 'Error: You must have at least 50 posts to submit a hack.' notification, what's that going to do? Encourage shitty postcount++ and then after they hit 50 they submit the same old crap (or goodness).

Hacking is quite strict. Let's look at custom music. As I recall, Moose started submitting songs as soon as he joined the site. Within 10 posts the likes of SNN and other musically talented people were giving him props for his excellent porting and composing skills. Now let's pretend that it had been a hack. Sorry there Moose, no dice.

Perhaps that is not a bad idea. Posting in the "works in progress" section seems nice, but should it be mandatory before the user is able to submit a hack? I figured that the works in progress is to get feedback, but the user could have gotten feedback from other SMWC members on another site (such as youtube). While most youtubers do not give useful feedback, there are quite a few that actually know what good hacking is, and it is possible that the user already got feedback from other SMWC members who have a youtube account.

Seriously, what this all boils down to is 'don't fix what isn't broken'. Why mess with a system that works?

To make it better.
If everybody stuck to the 'don't fix what isn't broken' saying, we wouldn't live in houses today but rather would still be stuck in caves.
