Ninji Jump: Back ^.^ Magma Lagoon

Title says it all. Taking a small break on S"M"WFinale seeing as I need to get more ideas for it.

Alas, here is Ninji.
Ninji is a "spiritual" sequel to my other vanilla-ish hack; Chomp.

Chomp was a Super Meat Boy inspired hack which all levels required using wall jumping. The levels were pretty tough. Not to Pat though with his TAS of it ;D anyways....

Ninji will be a short one world hack. Puzzle/platform based levels will be throughout. The first thing that'll hit you is how Ninji handles. The first level serves as a small intro really to get used to what is to come. Don't die too much though. Lives you find are the only ones you get. There are no coins D:

The story of Ninji is simple, his siblings have be kidnapped by a new self proclaimed overlord of the forest. Who could he/she/it be?

Looking around the first screen, common enemies are there called Chibi Yoshi's

Using some kicked footballs you can reach this 1UP!

Mini puzzle, learn where the balls land and bounce!

Quite a busy screen!

Kick the shell, kill the guy!

He blocked a passage that lead to a secret, each level will have secret areas with golden 3up berries!

Quite a big gap, it aint that easy to get across but I'll let you guys figure it out when you play it.

Also I'll try and release a small version of a previous "hedgehog" hack. Thats all for now ^.^
This looks lovely. I love the mix of chocolate and vanilla stuff.

I'm assuming Ninji has some sort of high-jumping ability or something? Or maybe a double jump?
Looks great 1updudes! I love how most of the enimies are chibi Yoshis, make sense, considering Niji is on Bowser's side,

Delta: Thanks man, That's the style I'm going for. I'm mainly using vanilla tiles but I'll edit some to add more "UMMPH" to the level. :3

You might me a confused, as I ain't started level 3 yet and the next level won't be a swamp. However if it was a suggestion for the second levels name then I like it but I prefer Fungus Swamp better. ^.^'

I'm trying to get as many level themes as I can into this short hack so yeah :3 THATS MY CHALLENGE :O

Anyway the next screen is an updated version of Fungus Swamp. Cheers to Underway for suggesting adding stars the BG. Shortly after I added some small clouds to make it seem a dark night-time swamp. :3



This level will most likely have the first actual main puzzle in it :3
Hey, this looks like a neat little project you have here! It's simple, and that is all it needs to be. It seems to have quite the charm too. Though, you have both simplicity and charm down well, right? It looks awesome.

It's kinda like an unofficial sequel to The Ninji Saga. Can't wait to play through the eyes of a ninji once more.

I did play the Ninji Saga, It's quite a nice hack. I like how it focused a lot more on SMB2 aspects than I've seen in other hacks these days.

Anyway here is some progress:


What an interesting structure...

Eating Block Sprite!!! D: One of my favourite sprites. Expect to see
it a bit in this level. This level would more be the in the platform
category than puzzle. I'll change it up once I start the next level. Which should be later tonight :3

For this level I was inspired by that one level in SM3DL with the moles in. Quite creative and awesome looking it was! :D

Hmmm, I didn't know there was such a sprite but yes it is quite a good suggestion. I was not planning on using to many custom sprites but I think the really big moles could be used in this level :)

Luigi370: Thanks for the suggestion to use such a sprite. Works out pretty nice. As for power up's there really isn't any aside from a Yoshi replacement I'm working on.
