That would be bested suited in his hack thread, where you could give specific constructive criticisms regarding his hack.

Yeah okay akacesfan.I am NOT talking about Jimmy. He was the one
that got first place.
End of this message.
I'd like to take this moment to ask you a question in the most straightforward way possible so you won't fuck it up and give me a bullshit answer like you did to Derpy, Dinomar, and akacesfan.

Whose hack are you talking about?

Because you randomly mentioned that to Dinomar and we never mentioned anyone's Hack in this thread at all afaik. This is about the Results of an OW contest.

I'm talking about Dinomar's hack that he posted on SMWC.
End of this message.
...And why would you bring it up here? This has nothing to do with the OW contest in any way, go talk about his hack in Hack discussion or if he has a thread made for his hack, do it there.

Honestly,I just post in the forums. And akacesfan told me that already.

No, you don't. You post in threads where it's relevant, or you get banned; you choose. This applies to all threads.

Any further posts on this topic in this thread will result in a temporary ban.

I recently brought up the idea of having a possible overworld contest with pairs** in the future. As.. questionable as it sounds, I really believe it would be interesting to see how some of the most-experienced users could team up and combine their skills to create overworlds that reach new heights.

Before anyone automatically jumps the "Oh, Azurik and Jimmy would blow everyone out of the water, so it would be completely unfair!" bandwagon, just think about how surprising the results could be (...Much like this past contest). An avid designer and a composer could do just as good as a programmer and graphics artist, depending on the talent and effort put forth.

Honestly, if the pairs would manage to work out and the contest would manage to gather enough interest, I'm pretty sure there would be quite a few breathtaking overworlds coming from the best of the best!

**It would have to be strictly pairs. Any more than 2 people working on the same overworld would be way too ridiculous.

So I'm hella lazy, is anyone going to make a video that showcases all of the entrants, or will I have to do that myself if I want it?
/lol
If I recall, someone (Snifit I think) typically makes showcase videos of the official contests on this site - however, last I checked, he only did it for level contests). I guess you'll have to do it yourself or wait for someone else to step up to the plate.

I have LPed through all of the entries, on my channel, though I don't know if that counts as a showcase. I showed pretty much all of the different attributes of each of the OWs and talked about what I liked/disliked and what can be improved on. Mostly I was more positive than negative.

Overall, I have to say I was really impressed with the level of work given by everyone who entered in general. When I'm done with entries, usually I've given about half of the people a 2/5 which is like a C rating but this time around majority of people got a 3 or 4/5. A lot of thought was put into most of these entries and that's a good sign.
Yeah, there were a lot of entries that look like they've been planned out for months. There were only a few entries that were terrible, and those were JOKE entries.
I no longer have interest in SMW Hacking as I did when I first started several years ago.
I just watched two LP's of my OW, and I'd like to share my thoughts.

@cstutor: I'm sort of sorry about the OW paths. I took too much time trying to use every level of the original game. The entire "cave" is a really a mountain, but turned out a train wreck. The level names correlate with the level, not stupid names like "Tree Tango". The star in the Nether takes you to cloud world because...nvm, it was a stupid idea anyway.

@levelengine: Thx for appreciating my level names. It would be nice if you showed me the cutoff like cstutor did. That was one of your big complaints.
Woah, the results went out pretty quickly! Was out so couldn't see them before but I'm agreeing with the first three places. I was very pleased with the OWs I saw from these people, and it's good they've won it. Well, next time I'll also make a normal OW with the rules rather than take an unfinished OW from my hack. ;p (well, could just finish it before and use the paths)
...Huh?
Haha! What kind of crazy person would let's play a collection of overworlds? I mean, you'd have to be some kind of lunatic who thinks three letters arranged in a certain pattern constitutes to form some kind of internet based identity!....

...I'm gonna crash.....

Yogui, you killed me on that one. :P
I am amased! I watch cstutor's video with my entry and actually noticed a crash at the end of his palythough. I tested my OW numerous times and nothing like that happened.
Weird.
Also, I wonder if ohter LP-ers like raocow will do an LP through every OW entry from thw worst to the best.
Overworlds really aren't that great for LPing. There isn't much to talk about at all beyond "oh, this part looks nice I guess" or "this part could use some work". There's no gameplay - it's just looking at a series of pictures pretty much.

I'm not sure how that crash happened either. Maybe it has something to do with the song? Or maybe zSNES just decided to conk out and fail.
To be honest when I first saw Jimmy's I knew he was going to win. I had never seen such an amazing overworld, and deserved to get the score it got. Good work, Jimmy!
