I saw now this hack thread and I must say this is something new! Keep up!
Wow, now that is a cool level man, really liking it!

@MrDeePay I could, but I wouldn't know what I'm talking about since I didn't code it myself. :P
@BlackMageMario Actually, the levers make all of Layer 2 go down, and once it's all the way down, it comes right back up.
@xImseiken3 I'll definitely keep it up, especially now that I'm designing the final level.
@camoslash Believe it or not, it's one of the easier ones. Still, I do like how it turned out, so that's good.

Now that that's out of the way, I've got what I need for the final level. Check out the gimmick for yourself. And yes, there's actually a reason it's like that. There's even a story now, which you'll quickly see when you start playing. It's not told through text, but through colors.

As the guy who coded it, I could probably fix it with some effort but haven't tried yet because I don't find it very important. I would consider it pretty rude to dump a problem on the ASM forum just because I don't want to bother with it.

I should fix it at some point, yes, but it can wait.

And yeah, that pretty much wraps up all of the levels. There's still several things that need to be done before I can make it a patch and submit it.

To-do list:
-Pester Extroble for some miscellaneous stuff (POW meter, reset code for level 5, boss)
-Extra palette work
-Create a manual
-Testing
Shit I better get off my ass and do my thing too.

By the way, I'm out all day tomorrow so the odds of me getting anything to you by then is slim. Saturday or Sunday is most likely.

Sorry for the lack of updates. I'd just like to inform everybody that COLORS is not cancelled. The final boss is just taking a while. Once the boss is finished and everything is wrapped up, I'll find beta testers (no, I'm not accepting people who just want to test so they can play it before it's released). And after everything is polished squeaky clean, I'll finally be able to release this hack. You just have to be patient is all.

It certainly works on bsnes. I don't think Extroble would do anything for me if it didn't work on bsnes. :P

Oh and quick update, this hack is not dead. Extroble is still working on the boss, which should hopefully be done some time this week.

Not to cause a flame war, but yes SNN, I believe it is the final nail in his coffin. Along with his religious discrimination and other past incidents, I believe it is his time to go.

I think the problem with the graphics is they're too bright and highly saturated. Also blue right next to red is generally a bad look especially when both colors are so bright.

Notice what happens when I lower the saturation:

Well some people might like the bright colors better but personally I think it’d look much better if you toned them down a bit.
I see little difference. Besides, who the heck takes what jimbo says in account anyway?

While I agree that it might be unappealing to some people, it is what makes the game unique, and muting colors would seem odd compared to the rest. I would choose brighter.

Agree completely. After all, the hack is called COLORS, and its visuals are inspired by Atari 2600 games which had only solid bright colors, so muting them would defeat the whole premise!

Well, actually, that's not entirely true. A lot of early Atari games had very dull colors (see: Indiana Jones, Space Invaders, even that really shitty E.T. game that nobody liked). Despite that though, I still don't really see an issue with the brightness here. I'd probably need to actually play the levels to make a true judgment, but based on what I'm seeing, it's not too bad.
