That's one very unique gimmick! This is getting better by the moment!#w{=)}

Level 2 is complete.

Edit: I already know what I want Level 3's gimmick to be, I'm just waiting on Extroble to code it, which he can't do until he finishes those SMWCP2 overworld graphics. Hopefully I'll be able to start it soon. Since he actually has a good decent work ethic, I probably won't be waiting very long.
Wasn't hoping I'd have to double post, but hey, what causes more activity than an update?

Level 3's gimmick.

I have to say, it's not quite as thrilling (or original) as Level 2's gimmick, but it does at least work with the COLORS gimmick well. I'll likely have level 3 done by tomorrow, when I can begin level 4 (whose gimmick is one of my favorites so far).
That is actually pretty interesting actually, I'm liking the gimmicks of this hack.

Level 3 looks promising, as long as you don't make it overly frustrating. Rhythm-based levels are some of my favorites--Beat Block Galaxy and Level 6-4 in SM3D Land are good examples.

Can't wait to see more.

@Daizo Yeah, I guess it is pretty interesting. I can't remember any rhythm based levels in a hack. I think I attempted one in Mario in Iggy Land (the forgotten remake I attempted), but there's only so much you can do in a vanilla hack like that.
@Biospark88 Yeah, I loved those levels! If I had music to go along with the animations, the level could be really close to those, but unfortunately, I don't.
@yoshiatom Hopefully I'll finish the hack soon, since I really want to share it with everyone else. So far the only people to have played it are myself and Extroble (although he didn't necessarily play it, he just tested out the stuff he made).

I finished level 3.

That looks pretty dang fun I must say! Good work.

Oh hey it's level 4's gimmick.

Before you say anything, I do plan on changing the ON/OFF blocks to have graphics that match the style.
Jeez, that's eerie.

Once again, a nice gimmick. I suggest you have blocks on the top of the screen, to make the level a tad more harder...

I'm hard at work on the level, but for now I'll show you how the game runs in the top 3 SNES emulators.

Yeah. Why snes9x fucks up like that, I'm not sure (after all, the gimmick is nothing more than moving layer 2). Regardless, snes9x users will have to choose a different emulator to play COLORS. Sorry!
Looks like a good hack, MolSno. I'll try it on a computer when I can.
(also I use ZSNES, everyone can shoot me now)

Wow, this seems exceptionally cool. Very original idea. I'm loving the gimmicks. I really can't wait to play this one. I kind of suck though, so I imagine I'll get frustrated a lot.
what a great hack so far, I look forward to playing it. One question...Are you planning to do a gimmick based on the flash game series, Shift? (if you have not heard of it the gimmik is that the player can invert his color to pass into the floor and essentially "invert" the level) This hack has reminded me of it on more than one occasion.

Mario's Kool-Aid Acid Trip (maybe?)
@kianworld Hey, that's ok. I use ZSNES, too.
@MVS Yeah, I guess that's pretty weird when you think about it.
@simonfox Yeah, I get how it can be hard for some. Then again, I'm really good at it since I've pretty much memorized the levels, so it's not even hard for me anymore.
@Lost ECHO I've seen the game you're talking about, and it would definitely make for an interesting gimmick. It's certainly possible, too. However, because that would call for puzzles, I'll be unable to do it. I'm sorry, but I'm absolutely horrible at creating puzzles.

Level 4's still in progress. I know it's taking longer than the other levels, but water levels typically take me a couple days to finish. Regardless, I hope to have it done within the next few days.

I'll just say this now: COLORS will only have 5 levels. Level 5 will be the longest level of them all, and will combine all of the gimmicks into one, as well as one more gimmick that may or may not do anything but look cool. Edit: Plans have changed.

My reasons for COLORS being so short is because it's quality over quantity. Think about it, would you like just a couple levels that are very interesting, or a ton of levels that become repetitive? Not only that, but I'd like to begin work on a new hack fairly soon, and what I've got planned is much more interesting than anything COLORS has to offer. Of course, I won't get ahead of myself by starting this hack before I finish COLORS, but I do hope to start it within a couple of weeks.
Well, level 4 is done.

Work on the final level will begin soon.

I should have something witty to put here (even if it's just to update dated info), shouldn't I?

Or you can just ask on the ASM/Advanced board for help.

Looks very, very nice MoltenSnow! I'm guessing the levers make the white blocks move up and down? Anyway, interesting level!
