Gravity Falls

Gravity Falls is a cartoon that deals with discovering and dealing with the mystical and supernatural, in an otherwise mundane world. Due to this it's commonly referred to as a comedy cartoon equivalent of Twin Peaks.
The show centers around the twins Dipper and Mabel Pines, who have been sent to spend the summer at their grand-uncle Stan's place in Gravity Falls, Oregon. They soon find out that Gravity Falls is home to many monsters and supernatural events.
The show has some of the most gorgeous graphics and animation, and some of the best music I've seen and heard. The writing is also very clever, and possibly the best I've seen in any cartoon.
But seriously, you should just watch the trailer and see if it interests you.

The show has Alex Hirsch as the Executive Producer. He's previously made the shows "The Marvelous Misadventures of Flapjack" and "Fish Hooks" (Admittedly, not a very promising track record), though this show isn't like either of those. Alex Hirsch is also an excellent voice actor, and does the voice of two of the main characters. Some other important voice actors are Kristen Schaal and Jason Ritter.
The show also has Rob Renzetti as as the Supervising Producer. Now that guy is pretty much the best Director/Producer in the business, in my personal opinion. He's previously worked on shows like "Dexter's Laboratory", "My Life as a Teenage Robot" and "My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic", among many.

The show can be found on iTunes, where the first episode is free, and the rest cost $3 each. Of course, you can also find the show on TV, and other places.

Oh, it's also very very gif-able :3

The hotspots for Gravity Falls stuff appear to be various tumblr blogs, and and possibly some threads on 4chan's /co/ forums, though honestly I don't really know =/

Interesting. I'll give it a shot.
I watched the first episode and it is really a decent cartoon. I wouldn't call myself a SUPAH HARDCORAH FAN, but it's definitely worth watching. I'll watch the rest of the episodes later.

And Mabel is cute.
i just lurk sometimes

Judging from the trailer, I can say this is looking very promising.

Yes, definitely trying this.
I think I looped the opening theme five times alone.

The show itself is looking great. I'll definitely check out the episodes and see what it's like.

It was like that for me too at first, but now I've gotten to the point where I've watched every episode at least 5 times O_o

Also, another awesome thing about this show is the surprisingly high level of continuity for a western "Saturday morning" cartoon. There's always at least one reference to earlier episodes, and some foreshadowing to future ones.

Oh, and of course, the crazy amount of mystery and conspiracy crap going on in the background. For example, the always popular Illuminati's all-seeing eye, now sporting a dapper tophat and matching bow-tie =D

It can be spotted at
the very end of the intro sequence, along with some other awesome crap
:3
There's also a few more in the show itself, but I shouldn't spoil everything now, right? ;)

I'm really considering giving this a try. I really am, but at the same time I'm a bit worried. I'm worried I'll be stunned by its sheer greatness and want to watch the episodes multiple times. I watched the intro sequence and the animation and graphics looks stellar and remind me of the old cartoon network shows. Is it just me, or does it seem like good old cartoon style is making a comeback?

Anyways, I'll probably watch an episode tonight sometime. I'm very interested to see what this show is like. I doubt I'll be disappointed. This show sounds promising!

Wow, so this is what it felt like prior to watching MLP. I missed this anticipating feeling.

A cartoon that looks like it's worth watching - I'll see.
I've seen like 2 episodes on TV, I thought it was pretty cool, since I'm really interested in supernatural/paranormal myth stuff. I'm waiting on more interesting stuff than gnomes and a fake lake monster to show up though.
Fake lake monster. Yup.
Hey Quizler. Since a lot of people haven't seen the episodes yet, I suggest you put spoiler tags around those last lines. At least for now ;)

Also, episode 4 and 5 should have more interesting stuff for you (though I haven't actually watched 5 yet... waiting for 720p iTunes version)

Here is my initial thought of the show:

Seems interesting and neat so far. Mabey sometime later, I'll stick around to see a few episodes (starting with the first).
For some reason though . . . . Mabel . . . reminds me of Porky/Pokey. Mabey because she was hugging a pig.
Perfection is something that requires something that incompletes it. Perhaps it also breaks itself.

My thoughts of the first episode

I haven't really watched any (non-anime) cartoons for a while, since, well, a lot of them suck and we don't have cable; so I'm just getting used to the new animation styles of cartoons these days.

Well, it's interesting to say the least; I'll try watching more episodes when I get to.
Came to this forum solely with the intention to make a Gravity Falls related thread, but, hey, it looks like I don't have to!

Anyway, this show really is fantastic, and I'm definitely happy that I discovered it. The characters are all genuinely likable, and I have to say it's pretty damn funny at some parts. I don't really care about the ongoing "mystery" theme all that much, but it seems to works exceptionally well with the characters and the setting, so I'm certainly not complaining. Ultimately, what I'm trying to say if you haven't figured it out already, this show rocks and you should go watch it and stuff. There's six episodes currently out, so you should hurry up and go and find them.
Okay I caved and watched the first episode.

HOLY FUCK THIS IS AWESOME

I dunno about Fish Hooks but Flapjack is awesome so it's still promising to me.

Regardless I'm really liking the animation in this. It kinda has a Regular Show look to it, particularly the character design. I remember seeing a commercial for it and I'll have to give it a watch sometime. If it's as good as everyone says, then Disney might be able to get back on track with the animated TV show department.
Finished episode 6.

I want more. Give it to me.
This is gorgeous. I'll have to watch an episode sometime. Cooler monster looks freaky though.

This is perhaps going to be one of the problems in this thread. The 720p versions of the episodes are always out about a week after the 480p ones. As a result, people like myself, who wait for the 720p ones, will always be a week behind everyone else =/

Go re-watch the episodes and look for secret stuff in addition to just enjoying the show :V
For example, and this is something I suggest to everyone who has already watched the first episode at least once,
pause the episode at 16:58 and look around :3
