Any game you've ever played, but unfortunatedly is underrated

Well, pretty much the title says all. Post about underrated games that you liked a lot.

I have a game, called Winback - Covert Operations (N64) that is a 3rd Person Shooter (or TPS, if you want).

The story is about a group of terrorists that have destroyed a place in the world with a giant space laser and you and your team are sent to take back the control of said laser.

More info can be found here.

Note to Staff: Please don't close this thread unless it's neccesary. I want it to become a succesfully good thread in whuch we can speak about games that almost nobody knew of.
Nothing worth looking at here.
Psychonauts and Indigo Prophecy (called Fahrenheit in Europe iirc) for the xbox and probably ps2 and pc. Both amazing games with amazing reviews that are under rated.
Psychonauts is about a psychic camp where pivotal plot points I won't spoil occur.

Indigo Prophecy is a game about a guy that kills a person while possessed or something, and the story goes between the killer trying to find out what happened and two cops trying to find the killer.
ask me if i give a f*ck...
Psychonauts is one of the best examples, though the inclusion in the Indie Bundle V and free in Xbox Arcade gave it some love. Grim Fandango is the first 3D point-and-click adventure (I think) and one of the best. It's also the reason LucasArts doesn't do Adventure titles anymore. Both of these, and other things made by Tim Schafer tend not to get love.

But my fav is Elite Beat Agents. It was an amazing game with rhythm tapping and sliders (like osu! but on the DS). It was about a group of agents who danced to songs to help people, characterized by Manga illustrations. It was funny, catchy, and is one of the only games where I have gotten every single thing possible.
Three games that i enjoyed on the SNES surprisingly aren't noticed as much as i thought they would be (well, except for one of them on this site)

The first game i liked out of these three is Goof Troop. The story itself isn't much, but this game has some really great gameplay. Some of the puzzles later on in the game can get pretty difficult, but one of the more enjoyable parts of this game was that it's 2-player.

Another game that i really liked that seems to be ignored is X-Men; Mutant Apocalypse I enjoy it most for it's music.

The last game that i liked on the SNES was Super Widget. This platformer has many powerups that all have strong differences between each other. An interesting thing was that the having now power does the most damage out of all of them, but getting hit once would result in a death.
Madworld and No more Heroes , definatly underated and misunderstood games....

Okay okay, I know they are pretty populare ones, but I really feel they didn't got the attention they needed. Specially for them being on the Wii (an underrated and misunderstood game system also).
HEY YOU!!! =D CHEK THIS OUT!!

Guys, Psychonauts is hardly underrated. If anything, it's overrated. Everyone has played that game, myself included, and loved it, heard of it or at least heard of Double Fine and subsequently heard of Psychonauts.

I'd have to say the greatest underrated game for me is La MuLANA. That game is seriously the most amazing puzzle adventure I have ever played and it sucks that a few thousand people have ever played it. I'm having a blast playing the PC version and hope to finish it in the next week (considering how hard the game is, maybe even the week after).
A game that is definitely underrated in my opinion is Operation: Carnage. I remember playing it back in the late nineties-early 2000's. It's a very fun game based on Smash TV. You can download it from here to give it a try (it's a DOS game, so it very likely won't run natively on Vista/7, especially not on 64-bit systems, so I recommend using DOSBox for it).

Another game I feel is underrated is Glover for the Nintendo 64. Quite fun, but a bit difficult... but I haven't played it in a long time. I still have the (PAL) cartridge of it. Note that I didn't mention the PSX port, as I heard it was a Porting Disaster, so play the N64 version by any means.

Really? I heard of La-MuLANA long before I heard of Psychonauts (and come to think of it, had I not watched Yahtzee's review of it, I probably still wouldn't even know that it exists). I'd say it counts as underrated, especially relative to a lot of other games.

As for my opinion on the most underrated game(s):

-Mischief Makers for the N64 (or any Treasure game really). This was an incredibly fun and unique platformer with some tough-as-nails speedrun challenges and some pretty quirky music.
-ActRaiser for the SNES. This is one of the best simulation/platformer games I've ever played and yet very few people seem to know of its existence. I love the mix of city building and going through actual levels.
-Grandia 2. I found this to be a very entertaining JRPG with a good story and a nice battle system. Aside from some very mediocre graphics, the game itself was enjoyable.
The only one I can think of right now is "Dustforce" for pc/mac.
It's a Precession Platformer, in the same genre of Super Meat Boy, but with much heavier physics and preciser controls.
It's actually the game on my steam account with highest gameplay time (because you have to play every level like 100 times :V)
I don't really like the phraise "underrated". I'd more use the phraise "under played". For example, Okami, an "underrated" game, got rave reviews, but it's just that not many people played the game (more than likely due to crappy advertising).

Anyways, a series that seems under played to me is the Star Wars: Dark Forces series. Although the second game and expansion are not great (they are kind confusing and lightsaber combat is bd >_<), the first, third and fourth game are absolute gold. You can find the whole bundle on stream, if you are interested. (I also don't know if this counts, but another Star Wars game that I love is Battlefront - better than any CoD game I've played, let me tell you.)

Gotta agree with you there, nothing fits the bill here for me more than Ghost Trick. Seems like it really showed up really late The DS's life and was heavily overlooked. (not to mention I don't know a single person that actually... paid for it...)

Other games I can think of off the top of my head that match this are:
-Retro Game Challenge
-Etrian Odyssey

And no matter what I will never be convinced that enough people in the world have played any Rhythm Heaven.

Retro Game Challenge was pretty awesome, but I feel having a RPG in a game filled with action games was a stupid idea.

Double Fine and subsequently heard of Psychonauts.

The problem with term 'underrated' in this context is that there is no demographic or specific guidelines for what qualifies as underrated. Yes everybody that calls them self a gamer has played or heard of Psyhonauts, but keep in mind in it's first year it only sold 100,000 copies. As of March 2012 the numbers were only 400,000.
In the mainstream psychonauts is definitely underrated, but yes it is well known through gamers.

Also Sumotori Dreams is one of the most fun games I've ever played.

Wario: Master of Disguise

I thought it was a neat little game that got mediocre reviews. The gameplay was quite different than other Wario games, but I liked it. In the game, you morph Wario into different forms, such as Dragon and Astronaut, granting him different abilities. The levels were quite expansive and filled with puzzles that required Wario's numerous abilities to overcome. They were quite fun and felt kind of like RPG dungeons despite being a platformer.
Dukes of Hazard (Xbox)
Driver: Parallel Lines (Xbox)
The Lawnmower Man (SNES)
E.T. (Atari 2600)
Kid Klown: Crazy Chase (SNES)

Thanks for the tip!! Nice game ! =x

I will also put here 2 other underrated games:

-Knights And Merchants!! Truly a great game!

-Dark Messiah Might and Magic. A game I still revisit time after time, just because it feels good....

The point of that collection of games was to enshrine the life of the Famicom, or Nintendo Entertainment System. Guadia Quest was just a Dragon Quest 2 ripoff, but more streamlined. A pivotal game in the NES library, if you ask me.

But yeah, Retro Game Challenge and Rhythm Heaven will never have enough people playing them.

Quick tip for RGC. Do NOT look up guides for it. It reveals all its secrets in time.

This is a thing that's happening, now. Achievements in old video games.
Thank you for the layout, Erik557.
Man, I wish this would've worked. Oh well.
If not for respect, but dramatic effect, take on the face of Guy Fawkes.
Dance Dance Revolution. So fucking underrated.
Oh I got another one. Wario Land 3 is one of the only games I've ever bothered going until the end with. The gameplay can get tedious, but the puzzles are top-notch.
I've never played it, but Beyond Good and Evil is supposed to be great (according to my dad).

You mean the game witch the cube guys and you have to push each other over oh man that game is hilarious I need the full version.

Also, I think Jet Force Gemini was a pretty cool game that nobody has ever played. One of the many great N64 games Rareware released in its glory days that somehow went unnoticed by many. I'm guessing it had something to do with marketing, or simply the fact that you didn't play as cartoony talking animals. The game really had a flavour of its own, and also being made by Rare it had an epic soundtrack.
May we meet again outside the battlefield.
