SMWCP2 TODO List & Signup Thread [null - See Bugs List]

Sind seems to be on one of his vanishing sprees again (he periodically leaves for a month, come back for a month, etc). If we don't hear from him soon, I'll have to pass on the coin code to someone who can touch up the remaining bugs.
The BG looks good right now as is.

How far are these bosses coming along? It seems to be taking a long time for anything to happen considering that school for most people has been out for about a month.
I'd like us to collectively PM Sonikku and threaten him with anthrax or something if he doesn't get the dryad done. He keeps saying he's made progress on MSN but I have yet to see anything, and it's starting to get frustrating.
Alright, so by collectively, you mean everybody that sees the message above right?
Yea, but you are free to round up some people to PM him, too.
Your layout has been removed.
Is this serious O.O

I'd like to offer my apologies for getting distracted by everything ever and not actually getting any work done on Doc Croc; most recently, the overworld contest started just when I was about to resume work, and now I've been spending most of my time on that.

I know that we are short on boss coders, but if anyone with a bit less horrible work ethic would like to try finishing up my boss (I have had the main behaviour done for ages; pretty much all that's left is a graphics routine and a bit of tweaking), just say so and I'll post the files. If not, I'll try to pull myself together and get it finished once I'm done with my contest entry.

Once again, I'm sorry for being such a terrible procrastinator. D:

It's not just you. The boss coders in general seem to have suddenly hit a wall, and it's slowing us down quite a bit. I'd really like to see us push forward and get them done, as it's the last major hurdle we have to overcome.

I should have something witty to put here (even if it's just to update dated info), shouldn't I?

You might as well just give cstutor a call directly.

*cough*

While reminding is good every once in a while, we've got to be sure not to rush them. After all, it is direct code they're working with; and code is not easy. We want these bosses to be at their best, and we also want to be sure that they're being worked on. However, every hacker hits that milestone called Author's Block. It's that point where they suddenly lose motivation to continue. I've hit it before, and that feeling of not making progress is horrible; and motivation is hard thing to come by.

The boss coders are being slow, yes, and we do need to remind them every now and then; but if we slam down on the reminder hammer too much, it starts becoming the pressure hammer. Pressure leads to difficulty, and difficulty eventually leads to quitting. This project can't afford for them quit; so we need to be patient. If we get finished with everything else (including bugs and overworld) and the bosses still aren't in, that's when something needs to be done. But for now, let's just sit tight and be patient; and it doesn't hurt to hand out words of encouragement.

Speaking of which, you coders can do it, I just know you can. It's hard, but in the end, you'll feel really good about yourself, plus you get bragging rights.
Yeah, there's a couple of bosses that are close to finishing like 3, 4B, 6 and 8 that are just slow but I do like what is being made. The major problem is a boss like World 2, mentioned above, which only has had screenshots and no actual working model yet to test, at least that I or anyone who just looks at the thread can see. Considering it's been months since the start, I would have hoped something would be at least testable by now. I don't think that's too much to ask. There's a point of which going too fast is bad but there's a also a point of being too lenient is bad as well. Just had to put my two cents in.
IMO, the major problems are W5 and W9 - which has no boss coders yet :/

@SCORPION: We know not to rush them - heck, it's to the point that we rarely see progress. They need more reminders if you ask me.
Yeah - we need to reel in graphics artists - there's still a lot of graphics that need to be done or redone. I'm trying to whip some, but they end up horrible looking.

Heck I'm still stuck on what to do with the feet of the Buzzy Beetle.

Jelectro already has graphics for it:

Nipper Plant:

Also, I included the Big Boo because really, it looks silly rather than menacing, and I've read a quite a bunch of complaints on it.
i really do not like the new nippers but jelectro is spot on
Also we decided against those fire spitting plant thingies because they look too robotic.

I'll see if I can whip up something decent to replace some of those sprites, and no, randodude, those Mini-Puffers look horrible (obviously, we could just replace them with Teyla's MUCH better looking ones).

@leod: I know about the Pansers - I dislike them myself :s

Okay, the Flying carpet, Mini Porcu-Puffer, Spara-Buzzy, Rip Van Fish look already good as they are really, I don't see any problems with their graphics in my opinion.

The flying carpet however just needs to be ex-animated really.

The Flying Carpet, from what I know, is a rip from the Aladdin SNES game; the Mini Porcu-Puffer looks like it's been smashed and flattened (no offense to whoever made them), the Spara-Buzzy is essentially the original Buzzy Beetle with spikes - changing the normal Buzzy Beetle means all of it's sub-species need a makeover that resembles the graphics (e.g the Koopas and it sub-species resemble each other, except that darn Dry Bones); and Rip van Fish has the same over-the-top shading on it as the Cheep-Cheeps and Blurps.

Also, has anyone noticed how weird looking the back of the Net Koopas are? I think it's the bare shading, but I don't know - it just looks weird.
*Copied from the edit in my previous post just so people will notice it*

So, I came up with this Rex head withn a few minutes. Is it better than the old one/good enough?

EDIT: Does it work now...?

The image is broken #w{:<}
Edit: man, I'm slow.

Anyway, the only comment I have for you is that it faces towards the screen a lot more than it should(turn its head to the right).
