Overworld Editing

...then use overworld graphics instead? The process is still the same: open the graphics bypass dialog (purple poison mushroom button) and select the graphics files you want to use. Just note that overworld can only use ExGFX files between 80 and FF.

Open up a clean Super Mario World ROM in Lunar Magic, then press the Red Mushroom (Quick Extract GFX from ROM), then find the file you replaced. (For example, FG1 in the Overworld Editor is file 1C, FG2 is 1D, FG3 is 08 and FG4 is 1E) Its not too hard, luckily.

I'd like to ask something.
I have made a special world (9 levels) and I would like a certain Overworld event to happen onece a level is passed.
But I don't mean the standart "once this level is passed, activate event xx".
I want to build a bridge (one tile per beaten level). But I want it so that is doesn't matter in which order you beat the levels of the special stage.

For example:
Once the first level is beaten, activate event 40
Second level beaten = event 41
.
.
.

Does anybody know how to do this?

In the main OW How do I change the palettes in some areas not being the same just green but example in some parts ice palette, some green,some dessert palette and so. Any Idea?
In the overworld Editor, click #lm{pal}
There, you check "enable custom palatte..."
As you can see, on the left side, the palettes 0-3 are unused.
So just add a snow palatte in 3, a desert palatte in 2 and so on.
Than in the 8x8 editor #lm{ow8xsel} you just select your normal gras tile and change the palatte to 3 or 2.

If you use this, you'll also have to go to the overworld menu:
Overworld --> Extra Options
And check the last box, otherwise the colors will glitch up.

A second option would be to edit on of the four GFX files and make new tiles that use different palattes.
This method is way harder, but the result will be prettier since you can leave the Extra Option part unchecked

What you mean with Custom OW Graphics?
example inserting smb3 ow graphics.
Just like custom grafics for levels.
Put them in your ExGFX folder. Hit #lm{insexgfx} go to the overworld and use #lm{gfxby} to select them.

Pretty Tip (Maybe):

You make a ExGFX for Custom Graphics for your OW and replace the 08 in the FG3 for your ExGFX.
You could also simply edit GFX08.
In that case though, don't forget to update your GFX with #lm{insgfx}

I have a really vexing problem with my YI Submap. Certain levels (1 and 2, and Switch Palace) do connect. After level 2, Mario does not move to the next level, which is the water level. What am I doing wrong?! (PS, I know it's bare. I'm learning here.)
Do you have the level set to make Mario go right after he beats it?

Yes, and left after he beats the water level. Still not working.
The level number of that level wouldn't happen to coincide with one of the old switch palace levels, would it? If so, go into the Change No-Auto-Move levels (under the Overworld menu) and change it.

If this isn't the case, I'd suggest double-checking that you didn't place a secret exit goal tape rather than a normal exit one.

Both suggestions, while quite plausible and good, are not the case. Sprite data on the goal tape confirms that it is a normal exit, and the level number is 106, formerly YI-2.

===============
3 - Making Mario Move Differently in Title Screen
===============

First, you have to have these:

-Your Rom
-Lunar Magic (LM)
-Zsnesw (ZS)
1-Open your rom in LM and edit level C7 (demo of Title screen)
2-After editing level C7, copy all the level and paste in a level 1-23 or 101-13B
3-Open the overworld editor, and place the level with the demo (the level you pasted C7's level) as a first level (just put Mario's sprite on the level)
4-Then play the level in Znesw (DON'T DIE) and make a savestate when you want to finish the movie.
5-Now, go to Overworld editor and click in File->Title Screen->Install Title Moves Recording ASM and click in OK.

6-Click now in the same directory->Insert Title Moves Playback ASM & Data and select the savestate.

7-Now, uninstall the ASM after you testing the demo and it worked correcty. If it didn't work, remake steps 4-6.

If it works, now you have the demo you want!

@Yanamanka: I REALLY LIKE Overworld Editing, so I can explain more and all things to n00bs.
How do you copy a whole level and put it in another level? when you select the whole level and change the level you're editing, it's not selected anymore.

I think this has been answered, but im not digging through 8+ pages of responses to find it. So my question is, How did you get such great textures like that!?
