3DS: Good or not?

I'm considering buying a 3DS. I need to know whether it would be worth the P10,000 (around $230)for it? You can argue for your point, but try to be proper for it.

This fits better in the Gaming forum, moved.
1) Worth it. Very worth it.

2) Where do you live for it to still cost the equivalent of 230USD?

It's not worth buying if you can't get a game with it. The already included apps get boring quickly (especially if there is nobody to streetpass with). If you could get a game with it (preferably one that will last a lot) then sure.

The 3 games I've played the most on my 3DS are Kid Icarus: Uprising, Ocarina of Time 3D and Mario Kart 7. Though I'd recommend Kid Icarus the most, It's definitely a must have.

Mario Kart is alright, though the fun part is multiplayer, I wouldn't get it if you're not into online, or have any friends who also have it. As for Ocarina of Time, it's worth it if you haven't played any other version before.

If not, then, wait for e3. Which is just 1 week away. There might be a game that might convince you to get a 3DS. Still though, I wouldn't get a 3DS until that one game is out.

The PSVita is like $435. I dunno, though. It must be an every-price-tag++ thing. I live in the Philippines, BTW.

How much is an Xperia Play? You could load it up with ROMs + emus, games, and apps. It's also a phone if you add a SIM.

With the slow death of portable consoles...
layouts suck
The 3DS hasn't appealed to me at all yet, and from what I've heard, a lot of others feel the same way. The biggest issue is the lack of good games. It's been a year since the release, and all we've seen is .. what, SML3D, Mario Kart 7, that OoT rehash, and Kid Icarus: Uprising (probably missing a couple of others)? Your mileage may vary of course, but if you can count the number of good games on one hand, and if the number of mediocre/bad games completely outweighs that, there's a problem.

(then again, with E3 coming up, there will probably be a lot of decent releases which will likely encourage me to buy it. sigh.)
While I feel that the 3DS has potential, SNN is right in saying that the library so far is pretty lackluster. I only have three games for the system right now and except for KI: Uprising don't plan on getting any more games until some of the other games come out. I say wait for E3 to see if there's any games you may be interested in.
I'm just waiting for more good games to come out. So far I have Kid Icarus, Starfox, a couple Mario games, Pokemon Rumble Blast, Zelda OoT and Super Street Fighter 4.

Paper Mario and Luigi's Mansion 2 should be fun.

You also forgot Shinobi, Mario Tennis Open, almost every fighting game, Bit. Trip Saga, Kingdom Hearts 3D, MGS3, Monster Hunter, Pokemon Rumble Blast, the Resident Evil games, Sonic Generations, and the shit load of awesome E-Shop titles.

Don't try to lump your opinion with others because the overall consensus is that the 3DS kicks ass.

If you ask me you really only listed subpar games and games that haven't been released outside of japan yet.

I think the 3DS is pretty cool, Soul Hackers and SMTIV were recently announced so I'm pretty stoked.
I dunno though, the $70 price cut was a deal-maker for tons of people. Up to you if you wanna plop down that shitload of cash for it.
There are a lot of top-notch eShop games for download like Pushmo, Dillon's Rolling Western, Mighty Switch Force and Mutant Mudds. Still need to play some of them myself.

Honestly, the DS had a similar scenario with quite a few lousy games at launch). Several years later, it has one of the most robust and high-quality libraries. I'm pretty convinced that late in the 3DS's lifespan, there'll be a ton of great titles too. The question is: would you rather get it now, where there are a few great games or get it later when there are a lot of them?

Hate to tell you this but most of those games are pretty mediocre, based on what I've heard anyway. I can also say from experience that while Rumble Blast is fun at first, it starts to get old real fast.

I love how the people who say the games suck are the ones that never played them.

The only games that COULD be sub-par are Shinobi, and does it matter if it isn't released everywhere else?

Obviously it does. He can't play them if they haven't been released outside of Japan. Not only is the 3DS region-locked, but even if the checks were somehow circumvented, he'd have to be fluent in Japanese in order to play them.

Then let me give you my experience with actually playing Pokemon Rumble Blast: Mediocre. It was cool at first, but as Derpy said, it got really boring really fast. You couldn't even raise the power of the Pokemon you attained! You HAD to gain new ones to get more power, which goes against the established Pokemon gameplay of gaining power by using your current 'mons instead of just catching higher-levelled ones.

:/

I was implying that the games you've mentioned got around average (6-7/10) scoring from resources I use (GameFAQs, Nintendo Power, Game Informer, etc.) Granted my opinion may be different from those if I did happen to own the games, but not one of the games you mentioned had my interest that have already been released here; Sonic Generations MIGHT be an exception but I want to get Kid Icarus Uprising before anything.
I own a 3DS and I just bought it because of the games, which were announced
I don't like the 3D effect.
It's hurting my eyes and makes me feel sick.

No, it's not. Quit acting like a pretentious prick.

The 3DS is good, but it's definitely not Nintendo's best work. The 3D can be impressive, but otherwise the quality of games is currently lacking.

Apparently posting that I don't like something and saying that a lot of others I have talked to don't either is "lumping my opinion with others" (which actually doesn't even make sense as a sentence in this case). Your logic is really great, and your post in general makes you almost sound like a deranged fanboy who can't handle someone who doesn't love the system as much as you.

Sigh.
