The hardest game ever?

Kaizo

I've been thinking. What's the hardest game ever? Like of anything ever ever and stuff. There used to be the fad of "I wanna be the guy" being so ridiculously hard as nails, and famous for just that. It was playable on its own, but as soon as tools were introduced, it became easier than the original kaizo mario. The hacks people make and release using this website are far beyond comparison to "regular" games people would play on a console. So difficult in fact, that using intense slowdown and even frame advance can still keep a game at a very high difficulty. I personally have seen difficulty hacks of at least 7 other games, and none of them even compare to the standard shown in Super Mario World hacks. If any knows of any game or hack comparable to these hacks, please inform me as I'd love to know. Could the hacks posted on here enter the guinness book of records for the official "Hardest game ever"?

So I ask you this: What is the hardest game ever? Item Abuse? Living on the edge? WoDM? Pitiless? Glitch Abuse? Wii sports?

Discuss.
I do think Living on the Edge can win the record of hardest game ever.

Living on the Edge is only hard if you aren't familiar with the tricks and glitches in it. Once you're aware of those, it's pretty simple and straightforward. I'd call it a demonstration hack, and nothing more.

But really I would say Walljump Abuse or Living on the edge.. Or the mini pit hack previews Regnum0nline & Kevin sometimes upload.. I don't know about WODM cause I've never played it..
Walljump Abuse, I'd say. Though there are some breaks in there (some pretty serious), which might make it a tad easier than that vid suggests.

Also Pitiless is a lot harder to TAS than looking in LM might suggest, but it's easier than Walljump Abuse.
Of course you should fight fire with fire, you should fight everything with fire.

After watching walljump abuse, I'd say in terms of difficulty, that does indeed look like the hardest, closely followed by glitch abuse 2, and then maybe LotE. Pitiless is in its own category, seeing as it's although apparently fiendishly difficult, and has complicated puzzles that even the best TASers have given up on. So while walljump abuse and pitiless feature entirely different types of difficult, they both deserve to be at the top spot.

I've seen a couple of videos of WoDM, and a few people have said that glitch abuse 2 is "easy, you should try WoDM" but they may just be haters. We will just have to wait until it is released.

Back to the original question, is there any game from ANY other franchise that could compete with these?
Edit: I think the hunger games is pretty tricky.

Just gonna put this out there, although Walljump Abuse is pretty hard, I would not call it the hardest. To me, difficulty does not involve glitches or luck manipulation or any of that sort. Difficulty is closer to a puzzle than that, if you ask me. It shouldn't be something so straightforward that there's only one thing you can do, there should be some sort of method that you wouldn't normally think of that has to be used instead.

As an example of what I'm talking about, just look at Sadistic's hack, Pitiless. That, in my opinion, is one of the hardest hacks here, if not the hardest. Not just because there's a low time limit on the first level and all that, but because you actually have to think about where you're going instead of just jumping right in there and doing whatever gets you through.

That is also why I don't really like video walkthroughs to levels immediately after their release.

Pitiless is a pretty hard hack.
I made it to room 3 on glitch abuse and couldn't even beat the first level on pitiless...
It reminds me of a puzzle type of hack, and It is definitely within the top ten hardest hack I've played. But, walljump abuse is WAY harder than LOTE, because it's longer, more brutal, and requires precision and more time to beat it. But then, in LOTE, I couldn't even make it passed the intro... I got to the second shell jump, and then couldn't do the "corner glitch" to go through the corner.

If it were up to me to decide, the top two are pretty close, but I think it is LOTE and Walljump Abuse
Your layout has been removed.
Actually, to really rate on difficulty, you have to look at the following;

1.How long it took to finish

2.How much hard puzzles there was

3.(sometimes) how long it took to make

correct me if I'm wrong.
also if you want an example, try IWBTG (I Wanna Be Guy) it took me a long time to finish this and each puzzle was a more than hard...in my opinion

Sorry for a late response but what breaks do you know??
inb4 gbreeze tas' with the new found breaks.
Some minor stuff:
It is possible to bring a mushroom through the door at 4:11. But it'd take a lot of time and it wouldn't be of any use.
By waiting for the koopa to jump out of the shell at 4:58 and jumping off it rather than wasting the red shell I think it would be possible to keep that green shell all the way up to 5:12. Meaning Invisible Yoshi. Unfortunately this too seems useless...
Isn't it possible to pass the gap at 5:01 by simply shelljumping rather than going down to hit the coin block? Seems faster.

Major things:
Why is there a shell at 5:39? Why not force the player to bring the yellow one from earlier? Anyway I'd recommend bringing the yellow shell to the next level, unstepping it for a koopa, make a disco shell and fly over/under the level. Yay. This also means you have a Yoshi at 6:28, making it look ridiculously easy :D
I have also been wondering about 09:02 - why bring only one mushroom and no Yoshi? I sure could use some extra powerups at the Boo fight, and since they're free I don't see why one wouldn't.

Welp, all in all I only found a break to skip one sublevel, and due to me lacking the hack itself I'm not even sure if it'll work. There are also some pretty crazy breaks at the water section, but only two of them are really interesting (one of them letting you keep a mushroom to the next level, the other letting you bring Yoshi but I'm not even certain if it'll work and it's most definitely too insane to pull off without losing much time). The section at 4:26 screws up most of my pretty breaks...
And the first half of the hack (time-wise) seems to be pretty much break-proof.

Ok! Thanks!
I'm TASing it after Item Abuse 2

Also I found a glitch where I can do the jumping on yoshi on lava much faster at 5:30 so I can just go under the death blocks and bring the yellow shell to the next room.
Just found another improvement but I don't want to spoil it! It only saves like 3 seconds actually..
& I think I can bring a key into the big boo boss room.
I think there is another break in walljump abuse: at 9:01 a goal sprite is spawn, so it should be possible to end the level here.

Oh yeah that's true, but I think for it to work you have to be at X position 0 and Y position.. something high up..
I got to say The pit of dispar and item abuse are the hardest hacks i have ever seen and take alot of luck and knowing how to do all of the glitches in super mario world.
The hardest game i have played is i wanna be the guy but thats irrelevnt to smw
