Having trouble with Snes9x v1.51 (yet another question)

Kaizo

Yet another question, on latest post.

Another Question: When you finish your TAS, I assume you click "record avi" and save that file. Problem is, it says that the file is like a million kb, and will take 160 minutes to upload to youtube, which is ridiculous. It's nothing to do with my internet connection, and I'm clearly doing something wrong. Does anyone know a way to decrease the file size so I can upload within minutes? Thanks in advance.

I apologize if I am in the wrong forum, but it seems as if the most knowledgeable in this area would be here. Basically, I've just started wanting to tas seriously, so I downloaded Snes9x v1.51, and I'm not sure how this frame advance works.

I expected you to be able to hold what ever keys you need to for a frame, then press whatever you've configured to be the frame advance key to go to the next frame, but it won't let me hold other buttons and then press my frame advance key; I have to press it without holding anything else, which seems to defeat the object.

Could someone please explain what I'm doing wrong, many thanks in advance.

Edit: I've also seen people using the "save screenshot" key over "save#" but I'm not entirely sure how to load, or switch between screenshots using the former. A brief explanation would be appreciated.

Being unable to press certain keys together is a keyboard problem, there's not much you can do about that (you can use Snes9x's input macro editor to press the key for you, though).

It's best to put your frame advance key, save state, and load state keys in places where they won't cause problems, such as CTRL, ALT, or SHIFT, since those keys are meant to be pressed with several other keys on the keyboard. If you didn't know, you can change the keys for frame advance and other things through Config > Hotkeys.

Awesome thanks, just changed frame advance to ctrl and it's sorted.
Does anybody know how to stop frame advance?
I pressed B (my frame advance key), and I don't know how to restore the game to normal speed. Do I have to close de emulator and open it again?
Also, is there a way to cycle through the "save screenshot" saves, rather than having to use save# then load# all the time?

In "Savestate #2" of the hotkeys menu, there is "save state", "load state", and "next save state" (as well as previous). Next/previous save state will increase/decrease the save state that "save state" and "load state" affect.

Don't do that. If you are still have a problem, then elaborate.

EDIT!

The last advice I gave wasn't so great, so I've found a different solution that works with the AVI file created. Just convert it to a different file type (doesn't matter which one) and you're solution is solved. It'll upload it to youtube normally in like 1 minute instead of a day OR TWO

When I'm recording a movie (movie record), then ragequit and want to come back to the same movie and carry on with it later... how do I do that? I can play the movie I had made up until the point where I stopped, then how do I extend my recorded input without neglecting my previous recorded input?

I've been wanting to TAS a lot of things, and now I've finally found the time to start, and when I returned to continue my play of ga2, my fingers like broke on me and lost my immense progress (getting the first key). Any help is much appreciated :D
Ta muchly.
Which format do you recommend and where do I get a decent converter?

I'd recommend prism file converter, because it can change it into a LOT of files
