Announcing "Super Mario Legacy"
I've started creating this hack approximately nine months ago (but I started hacking much longer ago). I have very limited time, though, so the amount of content is spare. Nevertheless, I hope you like what I have to show.

Gameplay
I'm aiming for that classic feel of SNES games. The game's graphics and palettes are very colorful and cheery. While the game has a lot of 'under the hood' ASM enhancements, I tend to keep excessive ASM gimmicks on the background. Most levels tend to be longer than the average SMW level (about the length of Yoshi's Island levels). Multiple midway points are present.
The game will feature 120 exits over 75 levels. The game has 9 worlds and 14 distinctive themes spread out over those worlds. The 41 secret exits are found using a red coin system rather than the key-to-keyhole system in standard SMW.
Features
- 150+ custom sprites; 30+ custom blocks, 30+ custom songs;
- usage of SA-1 removes all slowdown;
- three-tier difficulty system;
- SMAS/Redrawn graphics style;
- will be released unprotected, with all Lunar Magic files made available.
Progress
The project is nearing completion. Level design, sprites, blocks, and ASM hacks are fully complete, although I'm looking to install a more recent version of the SA-1 patch. The hack is currently in closed alpha testing.
