The Classic Creative Reassembly [team hack]

Standard

I recently made this: level for the 5th Annual VLDC.

I figured I should insert it into this hack as well since I didn’t use and Map 16 (easy transfer).

However as of now it doesn’t really fit into any of the four categories. So I thought I’d either decorate it up (using Map 16) to turn it into a RASM style level or use custom graphics with classic graphics to turn it into a Cookie and Cream level.

Progress on my latest RASM level. Using ghost house tiles to create buildings.
I drew some more graphics for my next level. I’m turning it into an inner-bridge style level. It’ll be narrow for the most part (when inside) but you’ll explore the outside parts of the bridge as well and then you’ll get more space to move around.

Hey dude, I think I'm going to drop that cave level, I'm running out of ideas and I don't know what to do with my level. But at least I have one level in the hack, so that's something. :)

@Lotica

Alright we’ll free up that level you claimed, it’s too bad you couldn’t get inspired again, but these things happen.

I finished my level for world 5 Castle Street. I’ll have the patch up soon, I just need to make some final touches.

In addition I’ve started a bonus game level that’d be perfect for World 8.

Click above to see video of the beta version.
I know it is way too hard right now it'll be made easier than you see in the video.
@Lotica
Yep it’s sucks when you lose inspiration. I’ve officially opened up that level for claiming once more, but don’t be afraid to claim another level in the future if you happen to get some new ideas.

@Snifit
Looks interesting, I like how closely the graphics and design mimic Bit Trip Runner’s bonus levels. Other than the difficulty near the end, which you mentioned you’d tone down, I don’t see much wrong with it. It would be a little more interesting if you had a few more types of traps, but since you’re trying to replicate a Bit Trip Runner bonus level you don’t have a lot of freedom.

I’m still in the middle of planning my “Inner Bridge” level. I hope to have some screenshots to show you guys soon.

Thanks, and yeah I might try mixing it up some. Even though I'm referencing Bit Trip Runner I don't want to restrict myself so much that it makes the level design suffer.

I should have a new version of the level by the weekend.
Claiming [Classic Level 12 ]

I've taken a break from my latest chocolate style level.

Progress on Classic Level 12:

It'll mostly feature on rails game play for the first section. After the half way point it'll add medium auto scroll.
I’m going to go ahead and focus on turning my VLDC 2012 entry into a RASM level for this hack. I’m thinking world 3 would fit the level well. I’m changing the level look from a dark forest cave to a bright sky cave as seen here:

However it appears a little too bright right now, I’ll probably need to darken it up some.
Decorations will come next.
I’ve got another level nearly finished:

Calling it “Rail Velocity” for now, since I couldn’t think of anything better.

I’ll post the patch soon so others can play it if they wish.
I can go with: 102: [Reassembled Level 11]

I like mixing with vanilla stuff. Okay, but what should be the theme of it?
Alright 102: [Reassembled Level 11] has been claimed.

You can choose whatever theme you prefer since the “Restricted Isle” world has no common theme like most worlds; just every level has to be RASM style.

Here are the two levels that exist in the world so far:

Fortress of Wood by Snifit

Titanium Forest by SilverSwallow

Just some quick ideas:

• Underground Castle with rail guides

• Mansion that has sunken under water

• Grassland caught on fire

So many possibilities.
Ok, thanks. I'll try my best.

EDIT: May probably go with the fiery grassland one. I like fiery levels. :P

EDIT2: Almost forgot, what should be the difficulty of those special levels?

Well it’s World 7 so it should be pretty difficult, only World 8 levels will be harder. Go for around Special World (from the original Super Mario World) difficulty.
Basically a little harder than the Bowser Valley stages.

Good luck.

Ok, thanks. That's all I wanted to know.
Alright I finally got time again to do some TCCR work.

I disliked the way my level was looking in the last screenshots I posted, so now I’m thinking of changing it to this:

This would mean turning it into a Cookie and Cream style level (the rain is custom ripped GFX).

To up the difficulty for world 9 (Cookie and Cream World) I could make the ground slippery.

I’m still undecided though I may keep it in the reassembled style and just turn the sky and clouds dark gray.
Alright I finally got around to making a patch of my latest level:

Rail Velocity
I'd like to claim "101: [Reassembled Level 10] secret exit"

It's going to be a (doable) maze just out of one-screen-rooms, which have different styles.
@mrdeppelman

It's all yours. How may rooms do you plan to have in this level?
@SilverSwallow
Don't know exactly, but I can put them in a main level and one sublevel.
