Kaizo

I was bored the other day and created about three screens of minor annoyances. Then, I created more. And more. And then I made it into a serious project: Kaizo Mario Forever.

It will get harder later on. The first levels are "easy". It will have four/five worlds with four or five levels each. It will mostly be a "classic Kaizo" difficulty hack with a modern twist...

Levels
[1] You're Screwed - old / new map
[2] Superman Switch - IN PROGRESS
[3] Munching Maze - progress as of 4/16/12

Let me guess, this will take a decade of waiting just for it to be released? Also, will we have bubblegum, or are we going to be all out of gum?

And on LM, "File > Levels > Export level to bitmap file" captures an image of the complete level. I just reccomend you to convert it for PNG.

Looks like the difficulty of the original kaizo... I like the SMB1 ExGFX

I wouldn't really call it annoying though, maybe you could go just below pit difficulty, but that may just be me. You could throw in some midair shelljumps or duplication of blocks but for now, I would call it a beginner kaizo
Your layout has been removed.
Did you tested it at all? Looks good, as your idea to use the SMB1 graphics. Just some things I want to point out:

I think you could put upside down munchers in the little spaces on that little spaces between the SMB1 blocks, as the part after the tree and that one before the three bullet bills;

There's cutoff with the munchers and the rope close to the midway point. Use clouds instead?

In ZSNES if I enable the new GFX engine I'll can see the cutoff in the red water and in that muncher;

And I don't get what that pink block is doing here, it clashes.

2. I didn't really quite exactly understand what you meant, but I changed the column.

5. It was supposed to be Mario-only in order to prevent a shell-jump which broke the beginning.

The bad thing about projects like these is that it is easy to run out of ideas. One reason is because I never write them down. I am going to put some here then.

- Worlds 1-3/4 in any order, castles build bridge to final world
- Fix invisible rope glitch
- Stop using so much Map16
- Story:
>> Luigi was trapped in an apartment 20 years ago
>> Bowser bought the place, not knowing about Luigi
>> The apartment currently lies in the special world
>> Mario blames it all on Bowser when Luigi was the clumsy one!
- The real flunchers in level 3 aren't a sign of laziness. It's just that mines don't fit there.
- Have custom OW music
- Make a part of level 3 a race involving timed lifts, on/off switches, and brown lifts

Fine then, a puzzle involving a silver P, a Boo Block, a bullet Bill shooter, and Yoshi (baby or adult, doesn't matter). I don't care how you do it.

It depends on how he/she designs the level or how closed in it is or how big/small of a role Yoshi would play. The smaller the role, the less chance for breaks.
