He seems to have planned the paths in advance, if you look closely you can see a distinct path that's supposed to be taken through.
I like the way the overworld looks, though I also think you've used the black lines more than necessary :P
aran - Graces of Heaven

After finally porting (most) stuff to a new ROM, i'm back.

e:, might chage a few stuff, but the redrawn graphics will stay
i just lurk sometimes
@Neutron: Nice graphics there, the levels are looking fine.
Windowless ride, feeling alive
Are you alive or just breathing?
@Teo17: man you're amazing with OWs. This looks like some kind of indian village of United States! :D

@Neutron: can I see the redrawn cave GFX on the second screen? Oh God... Also the slopes on the last two screens are too big, and I think they're missing enemies. The others are pretty fine.
It's easily the best thing I've done
So why the empty numb?
@Teo17: Your OW looks very great but random IMO, nothing wrong indeed just a thought.

@Neutron: These BGs looks awesome, cave's GFX looks something for Sonic the Hedgehog.
GvS @smwcentral.net ~ u:11380
Righto Teo, you've got it spot on now. That has to be the prettiest OW I've seen in a while. Can't wait to see it with decorations. :3

Neutron:
Eh... yeah. Like Austin, I'm (and I'm sure almost everyone actually is) am not a fan of the redrawn graphics. And that BG doesn't make it better at all... The last two screens are way more appealing, yet still the level design remains too empty. =/
Teo17: That's pretty impressive. Can't wait to see what it looks like when it's done.
Neutron: The decor somewhat blends with the background, but other than that it looks pretty nice.

Now some basic submaps:

(ignore the level names #w{=P})
@RedboneBit: The first one is actually looking a sky place, and in that hole I can see the ocean, there on the Earth. Lolyeah, this is what I think I can see. The second one is a bit squared, and the decoration isn't that good. Also the third one is pretty better than others, but squared too. All of this is IMO.

In resume, you have a decent OW design, but isn't that amazing.
It's easily the best thing I've done
So why the empty numb?
@RedboneBit: Your OW is very well designed but it's a bit square, try adding some decorations and you're ready to go.
i can't really see what's wrong with redrawn graphics, but eh you can't please everyone.
i just lurk sometimes
camoslash: Thanks, guy! When looking into it, I think I actually could darken the cliffs a bit. Thanks for suggestion!
Maxodex: xD... I'm glad you... are... well... dying? Hahah, glad you like it, Max! =D
miguel21450: Thanks, miguel! I'm really glad you liked it. =)
Spy: Hahaha, yeah, it's sometimes hard to place them, but after all, I usually just plan it out somehow or I'm just modifying it partially to have the paths fit. ;)
GN: Hehe, thanks! Oh guy, you saw the main path! But well, it's just first world, so there aren't many path splits. Heh, I actually sometimes even remove some of the black lines because it seems there's too many of them. =P
Austin: Heh, I'm glad you like it. Indian village? Haha, you have great imaginations! I actually sometimes think like reghrhre, maybe it's some area buried with volcano eruption!? =D
GeorgeVsSonic: Thanks, man! Heh, thanks for all your compliments. =)
RedboneBit: Thank you, I'm glad you like it. It will take some time before it's done. ;)

Woah, after reading all the opinions, I'm now really scared of showing the OW here when it's done. :P Also,

@RedboneBit: I think this is pretty decent OW. The desert map has nice paths. I would advice to add some cliffs here and there. The lake there is a great idea. The decorations could be less linear IMO. Well, the cave map is pretty interesting. The decorations are ok, but you could remove some of those "mini hills". There's too many of them side by side. There's some minor cutoff in water, and the paths are also pretty nice. The hills also could be more interesting, but you definitely not have to change it, it's pretty decent now. The forest map is pretty alright, since it's a forest submap. If you want to make it more interesting, you can place the decorations in some original ways. Overall, it's really decent, good work! =)
...Huh?

GvS @smwcentral.net ~ u:11380
Uh, hi Gregor? o_O
Anyway, the level looks alright so far. I love the palettes of the hills in the BG. The clouds are also a nice touch. The level design doesn't look too creative or spectacular though: just some randomly placed Koopa's and Goomba's.
Nice colors of the hills!!
Looks like NSMBWii!!
Like GVS said, the palettes and background look well done. However, right now it looks like a slightly altered version of SMB 1-1. Try to make your levels more creative by varying the terrain and making levels less linear.
Nice work, Gregor. However, that was not the best screenshot to take. You should consider taking a screenshot of another part of the level, preferably a part that has more stuff in it. The screenshot you gave gives us a nice preview of the graphics, but unfortunately, it does not indicate what the level is like. For all we know, that screenshot could mean anything. Now if your screenshot is only meant to show us your graphics, that is fine. But if you want to show us your level, that screenshot will not tell us much.
don't click this link...
@Neutron: I'm bored with these graphics :\

@Teo17: I know not what's what I'm talking about, but is something like a indian village...

@Gregor: looks fine, but, erm, don't you have anything to say about this? Because I'm sure I already saw something like this before, just saying.
It's easily the best thing I've done
So why the empty numb?

It's the beginning of the level, so obviously the intention is that it will pick up later.

Thank you, I will.

I'm aware, I'm just a tease. Thanks.
