NEW! SMW2 Yoshi's Island Release

Full Release

Yes, it is normal to get 1 in the skiing part. Me guesses you didn't push the grey Chomp Rock up the slope.

I was JUST about to say that I found it there! I though that it was just an obstacle, but after I though "why putting an obstacle that throws you in a bonus?" So I got that idea and won.
Brilliant deduction, Watson! #w{=D}

Okay, I found some graphical glitches in secret 2, in the (first if there are more) section with Fuzzies.

That's it.

Edit: It isn't part of the spikes because I broke them and the garbage was still there.
Finally unlocked Extra 2 and Secret 2. They were... rather disappointing in my opinion, especially compared to Extra/Secret 1. (Extra 2 in particular felt to me like it could have been an ordinary world 1 level, not a world 2 extra.)

By the way, in 5-1, Yoshi appears one tile too far to the left when exiting this pipe:

Can't play it, it crashes upon loading it up. No matter which Yoshi's Island rom I use or which emulator I run it on, I get the same results. Anyone know how to fix it?
@Resin:
Google this: Super Mario World 2 - Yoshi's Island (U) (V1.0) [!]

@King Dedede:
This doesn't seem happen everytime one plays the level, but I'll fix it of course.

@Zeldara:
Sorry if it was too easy, do you know anything to make it harder while keeping the theme the same? Or even a better theme, so I can make a complete different level? I'm asking this, since I'm using fat shy guys again later in the hack, so it's basically having the same theme twice, so I'd be glad for a new theme.(Also, I find Secret 2 appropriate for World 2)
And thanks for reporting the pipe-issue.

I agree with Zeldara that the world 2 bonus stages were a bit underwhelming. This is entirely about their placement, really, as both are perfectly okay levels. It's just that they feel exactly like, well, regular levels. I don't know if some complete revamp is necessary though since it's not like there's any glaringly big issues with the design. If someone can suggest a small modification or gimmick to the existent material to make each one harder, then there you are. But if not I think you can just accept it as slightly easy bonus stages that don't eat into the game's quality too much since it is, after all, world 2. Yes, Extra 1's one of the hardest in the bunch (of Extra stages, mind, not your nightmarish Secret ones!), but that went for the original Yoshi's Island too.
@Serebel:
Good to hear there are more people sharing Zeldara's opinion.
In Secret 2, I could add a few death spikes and a Speedy Gusty generator in the first room to make it harder.
However, I kind of like the idea of remaking Extra 2, since honestly I've never been really satisfied with it.
Also, the Secret stages aren't that nightmarish, they're basically just longer than the normal stages, the only one I'd call nightmarish is Secret 6.

Another random bug report:
If you run out of time with the helicopter morph near the end of 2-2, you may be immediately hit by a Parakoopa when you're sent back. It doesn't actually cause you to lose stars, but it's a little strange. (Moving the enemy a little to the left or right should prevent this.)

Oh, and Secret 2's final section (after the last Middle Ring) was fine. I agree the first room could be harder though.

Edit: By the way, I was just wondering-- why are items disabled in 4-8, anyway?

I'll look into the 2-2 thing and make the first room of Secret 2 harder.
Also, please, I'm honest, I need a new theme for Extra 2.

*Edit*
Because else you can use a fire melon to get the door without having to use 4 shells.

Hmm... do you have any Extra/Secret levels that are castles yet? (I can't tell just from their names, and I haven't unlocked the ones beyond world 2 yet.)

(Also, that reminds me-- it's possible to reach that door in 4-8 with only 3 shells. If you scroll the leftmost cloud slightly off-screen, it won't be activated, but the shell won't despawn either.)

Thanks for reporting. In this case I'm going to move the cloud and make comprehensive tests.
Yeah, Extra 6 is almost purely a Castle area.
Also, 1/4 of the regular stages are castles, so I guess I shouldn't overdo castle levels.
And sewer levels are too easy, actually, since it's hard to lose lives there.

Extending the passage slightly to the left of that cloud (enough so the shell despawns if you try to do the trick) may be all you need to do, actually. (Though more testing doesn't hurt obviously.)

Edit:
For some reason, you can only get up to 5 eggs from Shy Guy generators when you're inside a Shy Guy pipe. (This only applies to the sewer-tileset rooms inside certain Shy Guy pipes, not in general.)

I'll see what I can do.
The Shy Guy issue is not a problem with my hack (see 1-1 of the original)

Interesting... I never knew that. (Probably because that was fixed in the GBA version, and I haven't played much of the non-hacked SNES version.)

That reminds me, I found out a few months ago that after you've seen an exposed key (not in a crate, cloud, or something like that) somewhere in a room, egg blocks/plants/etc will only give you up to 5 eggs in the SNES version, but in the GBA version they still give you 6 eggs until you actually collect the key. (It's not exactly relevant to this hack, but just thought I'd mention it in case anyone finds it interesting.)

I tried many rom versions (1.0, 1.1, E U J, ! , h, etc etc) but none works!

What's the secret point to make it work? thx
Aw, screw it. Please google this and you should find the correct one:

Sorry, I'm a little pissed because every second person here is asking how to get it to work. I'll post that on the first page.

Lol, i know! but i asked the same thing because i already tried that file and it keeps crashing again and again. No problem, maybe some other day... thx for your work!!
I've also gotten that question far too many times for my liking (mainly on YouTube regarding YIKR v1.96). I think the issue is that some people don't realize the ROM needs to have a header.
