I heard a lot about Asar and i really like it. It's a lot faster and has more features, is user-friendly and does gets still updated. But some people use still xkas for a reason. So what do you prefer more? xkas or Asar?

Post your choose and a reason why in this post.

Here, mine:
I prefer Asar more, because it is user-friendly, features a lot and still does gets updated.

EDIT:
I don't use Asar for all my patches. Sometimes i have to use xkas, because some features were missing in Asar.

Xkas. As this isn't outdated, I have no reason to change. And all the patches are done for it.
It's easily the best thing I've done
So why the empty numb?

Yes, this would be also a good reason, because the most patches here are made for xkas. I don't know if Asar will ever get the uber new standard here, but if it does, then we don't have any other way as change to Asar. (This goes for the other people that still use xkas)

I'm Prefer Xkas, Asar is very Complicated and Xkas is more Easy
I prefer Xkas, a lot of patches, tools and almost anything is this site works with xkas "only".

I don't recommend changing until the process of patch conversion is done, but xkas is still much better.
Yes, i Forgot this Part, the Asar Patches are not Moderated
I prefer xkas, since it's more easier to insert patches than Asar.

Yes. I didn't have changed really to it yet. I used it for some patches on my upcoming hack (which i will sooner or later post a topic about it, if it has a better progress state), but still I'd use xkas for longer patches. So i give you right at this point. Actually i think we don't need a new patching tool... the old one just should get updated.

Asar. It's more stable and has more features, and the creator hasn't dropped it. I do use xkas for a few things (both Sprite Tools and any patches that I'm too lazy to convert), but really, once we've updated tools and patches to use Asar, there's no reason not to use it over xkas.

I'm working on a hack! Check it out here. Progress: 64/95 levels.
I honestly prefer Asar, as I find it easier to use and has some really nice added features, such as the freespace finder with automatic RATS-tags that is pretty useful also when you're coding patches yourself. Indeed, some patches such as levelASM and most of the tools require xkas, though, so I keep them both in my folders.
I kind of like both of them. I'll revert to Asar, once more patches are made for Alcaro's tool. While I really like some features, there's this "thing" that bugs me about it. When you insert a patch that's places in a certain location, once you insert it again, the patch will be put in a different location. And for patches liek the Sprite Status bar, that's a problem.
What I do like is that xkas patches do work with Asar and that's a plus.
Alcaro's tool has many pluses, except for the minus mentioned above.
@Lui37: LevelASMTool is compatible with Asar.

To fix that you'll simply need to type autoclean before the JML or JSL.

e.g.:
Code
org $001337
autoclean JSL YourCode

freecode

YourCode:
I just keep using xkas because I feel like it, do not really want to switch haha. Good right where I am now, not like there is a major reason why I should switch, so staying simple with Xkas. I mean I have never gave Asar a chance (maybe I should). But ya know... whatever lol.

I just use Xkas GUI, because all you have to do is set the free space, choose your rom and your patch and bingo, you did it.

Xkas, because from what I read, not enough patches are made for asar. From what I read about asar, it's supposed to find freespace for you. For now, I stick with what I know, and I stopped using xkas GUI because people talk about how buggy it is, tho it has worked fine for me so far (as long as I don't attempt to make it find freespace for me, and use slogger instead). I don't like having to make batch files every time I want to patch something. Maybe I didn't absolutely need to switch?

Asar all the way. It's more stable, less buggy, easier to use and has some useful features like automatically adding a RATS Tag and searching for freespace in a patch. I have a few minor problems with it (syntax looks somewhat confusing for a new user, have to add .l to certain tables, etc.) but it's better than xkas so it's worth using. For those comfortable with xkas: it isn't necessary to switch to Asar since it probably won't really be that useful to you, especially if you're not coding patches but simply using the ones hosted here.
xkas. xkas has everything I need, I never really needed any extra features which xkas didn't have while I'm coding something.

This thread reminds me that I haven't applied a patch since before asar came out. I need to hack more...
Xkas, only because I haven't taken the time to learn Asar's syntax yet.

It's literally the same reason with ST140 vs. Tessera.
I prefer xkas, mainly because nearly all the patches in the patch section are made for xkas, and because I'm used to using xkas.

I'll probably switch over to Asar if many of the patches are converted to work in Asar, though.
