Mario: Lost in the Forest Team Hack (34/91 Levels Inserted!)

-And with that, it seems all the levels in world one have either been completed or claimed. Hooray!-

Hooray indeed.

Well DiddyKaizo100, I would've posted feedback a few days ago but I wasn't home the last two days. Anyways yeah I'll do it now. I feel like your almost there but there's just a few things. (A few might be nitpicks but meh.)

To me these stone blocks kind of clash a bit or look somewhat out of place. (I mentioned this before)

In my opinion this 1up was a bit to easy to get and here's why. If people see 3 chucks, some may try and avoid them by going under here (At least someone with a bit of common sense) Then they'll suddenly stumble across the 1up. I recommend trying to hide it in a better place. (Or else the 1up camping starts to begin)

The koopa coming from the right (For some odd reason) Get's stuck in this pipe. Maybe move him back more.

Still....haven't risen this piranha plant up.

Honestly think this stone block smile at the end looks odd to me (And kind of pointless) I'd honestly just get rid of it.

Well that's pretty much what I could find. Also I'd add just a bit more decoration to it as it still seems kind of empty to me. Also one thing is your level hardly has any coins or coin blocks. Please put some coins and coin blocks as levels should really have these. Anyways that's all. Just fix these ups and your level should be good to go.

So here is some progress on my level. Opinions?

Your level is looking Great so far hotsos120. I don't really have any complaints other then the munchers (About half way) don't look like they're connecting to anything. (Though I know there are). The level looks like the difficulty might need to be raised just a tad bit but I'm not sure yet. We'll see when the full level is completed.

Other then that the level seems to flow together well with World 1 and I 'm liking the palettes, so yeah keep up the good work.

Ok I've finished my level and sent it to eXcavator. Just thought I'd announce it #w{=)}

EDIT: Crap I forgot to tell him the name of the level. Thats what happens when you're tired I guess.

How about...Frolicking Forest

Yeah...yeah, that works.
I would have preferred you send it to a tester before sending it to eXcavator, but whats done is done. im glad your level is completed, but i'll see what eXcav thinks about it.
Later.
Oh sorry about that. Well it should be fine I tested it around 10 times or something around that.
Just thought I'd mention that I do have a plan for my level (actual lay-out) all sketched out. I would work on it but... kinda smw'd out right now X_X
So remember kids! If you ever get caught having tosave a princess from a foreign land after getting dragged down a drain pipe, jumping while spinning in a circle can help you greatly by allowing you to jump on spinning saw blades, ghosts, and allow you to control your jump better!

Just a quick update on my level.

I think that i've finished the level, or at least it's first version anyway. I've pm'd an ips with my level to Evilguy (thank you :).) to be tested, i've also tested it myself so hopefully this level should be finished soon.
I have a quick update. It's been kind of hard for me to work on this because I've been sick this week, but hopefully tonight I can post some kind of progress on LVL 120 today.

I've figured out what I wanted to do with this Ice Wind Forest level, primarily three parts:

Part 1: Normal ground platformer, slight wind that blows only to the left (probably 10 [numerical] screens).
Part 2: Inside a cabin (1-2 screens + Message block).
Part 3: Normal ice platformer, slight wind that blows left and right. (probably 10 [numerical] screens).

Probably will use ExAnim and one custom sprite (21) if possible.

It's all good man, there's no rush. Besides it seems like you've made quiet a few levels for this collab lately. (Thanks for your work btw) So you can afford to relax some and work on the level on your own time.

Hey, just tested your level. (Meant to yestarday b I fell asleep) Anyways the level is actually really great. The design in the palettes looked interesting and the difficulty was spot on for World 1 in my opinion. I couldn't really find any errors honestly so I think it may be safe to mark this as complete for now. You can go ahead and send your resources in such to eXcavator. If he happens to find anything I missed (Which I don't think I did) he could mention it. But yeah your in the clear.

It's all good, just work on it on your own time and of course when you feel better.

Also your level ideas are sounding pretty interesting so far. Curious to see how the level will play out soon.

Thanks Evilguy for testing my level. I'm glad you didn't find any mistakes :). I'll send the resources to eXcavator once i've got them out of the rom.
I love how this hack starts out very vanilla and it isn't until later on that the chocolate elements start to creep in. I mean now that we have the first world essentially finished when you look at the actual levels with the exception of the fighter fly sprite used by Evilguy and Shadowfire this hack doesn't really go chocolate until the first castle and the yellow switch.

Okay I've finally got around to finishing up the first section of the level.

I've used the thunder generator (D3) and some ExAnim to simulate the rain (dropping down or diagonally) for Part 1. And I added a sprite (21) that blows wind half the time. The rain signifies if there's wind or not. All of the graphics are hand drawn (if there's cutoff let me know - I hope not).

Here's a video of that level (ignore the title for now): Video

The only thing I'm questioning is the amount of trees used (maybe add a few flowers in the mix). Maybe there should be more around to make it more "foresty". I'm going to build the level in parts (well Part 2 will be short) and grow it from the bottom up.

*Uh, I just noticed cutoff at the end with Layer 2 (ignore that for right now - I'll fix that).*
I love the layer priority stuff you got going on there, very nice!

I like that level, but one thing I don't understand is why the wind affects you in that cave... not a big beef, but maybe something (like leaves/dirt/something like that) to show wind is still blowing through the caves (even if it's just a little dirt being blown up from the ground when the wind picks up)

Also, what song do you plan on using?

@SockbatReplica thanks.

@steeledminer Yeah I didn't think about that until now. Since I do have grass on Layer 1, I'll probably make some ExAnim for grass and use that to showcase that there's some wind in the brush. Thanks for noticing that.
Alright, Minor update on my level:
I do have the first room nearly done. I've hit a few speedbumps I will fix asap, and have a "Proof of Concept" video of it within a week or so (I'm not on my main computer right now :()

Edit: Alright then, I finished my level, although I won't have a video, I will leave a link here for anybody to try it, as well as PM Evilguy with it asap.

Edit: Here we go. Illusion Maze Switch (Placeholder name, any ideas?)

Also PM'd to Evilguy

Edit (Again :O): I do realize I should add more coins, and Will do that ASAP.

Quick Update on my level: I have added plenty of coins, and sprites (what sprites/coins are where depends on whether or not the room is flipped). I will get an IPS ready for test ASAP, as well as a video.

I've also been working on my level too. I think I'm going to stick with Desperation Downpour as Level 120 as it makes some sense. Here's a video with the level (about 4-1/2 minutes long):

Video for Desperation Downpour

Changes I've Made:
+ Added moving flowers to the level to represent the wind moving (in the brush).
+ Added a level where Mario is in the cabin (B0)
+ Added an icy wind level after Mario sleeps in the cabin (B1)
+ Wind blows to the right in B1
+ Added some new graphics (bunnies for the ninjis and snowballs instead of baseballs) for B1.
+ Made it a nice intro level to the Ice World.
For steeledminer's level:

I get stuck and/or die up here.

and I can get stuck here.

Aside from these two things I think this level is great.
