So what is the Status on this. Are you still working on this Son? According to the Sprite Sheet, it looks like the attacks have already been decided on, though I have no clue what they are.

Hey, I just realized this I just want to say it now:

Please have this boss have a "hurt state".

Its just a big pet peeve of mine; I don't like how many bosses don't have a "hurt" state or graphics; it looks so... unprofessional.

I should have something witty to put here (even if it's just to update dated info), shouldn't I?

One of the frames Ludus drew is a face expressing pain. You may wanna check through topics first before posting (spamming) the same thing over and over again.

Soory bout' that. D=

I only skimmed through the graphics.

Again, sorry.

I'm not entirely sure Sonikku wants to code this anymore(haven't seen any mention of this even being worked on). All the gfx are done, but it looks like we still need a coder...

I remember SNN saying something about he and Sonikku brainstormed(?) about the boss a while ago////citation needed
He's working on it slowly but surely (believe me, I've been checking up on him via MSN). I have faith that he'll have it done, so don't worry too much.

As it is, there are currently no attacks, although the graphics routine for the Dryad itself is pretty much 100% complete. All frames and such have been completed - the body, arms, and facial expression use different routines solely to remain simple.

The graphics routine itself is really the most complex part I have with bosses, so I should be able to finish the boss by the end of the week given I have enough free time to work on it.

Any idea of how we should need to damage the boss? I was thinking the purple berries could grow along the brambles, and you throw an apple at it to bounce it off and hit the boss.

...Am I the only who now sees that the graphics clash with the FG because of the lack of outlines? (Nothing that can be easily fixed, I guess)

To damage the boss...wait, another catch and throw? .-.

Is there some way we can utilize the spin jump like how Mario games nowadays utilize Ground Pound?

But from the looks of it, no so...

Well, I like the idea of a berry growing on the brambles; maybe randomly on each side (except, well, the floor that is)?
I can't think of a way to utilize really.. any other of Mario's abilities for a boss like this. The actual idea, to give more of a grasp of what I was thinking, is trying to find a way to hit the head/body of the boss, and not the base of it. The only way to attack the boss without getting hurt is bouncing it off the berries which will deflect it into the boss if you aim properly.

Although, if you have any other ideas before I get on to working on the actual boss then feel free to say it.

Maybe the boss could "summon" brambles to protect herself when Mario obtains a berry? Then Mario will have to break the the bramble shield, and after that can hit the boss by spin jumping on her head by getting another berry and throwing (upwards) at it's head?

So uh, what is going on with this?

I am still working on it. It's progressing slowly, though.

Admittedly there is not much to show, I will have it finished soon though if things go as planned.

So it's been almost 2 months since the last update, is there an IPS to test or something to see for Dryad?

Man, no free time since March, that sucks. :<

Honestly, you've had this boss now for almost 6 months (if not more) and no one has really seen any progress with this. If you aren't going to finish this, or don't want to, please let me or SNN know within the next few days otherwise we are passing this to someone else.

I figured as much.

I talked to Cstutor a while back and he seemed ok with taking this boss over. Until I get an final official word from cs, the ASM spot is reserved for him

cstutor for every damn boss in the game, even the already and almost finished ones.

On a serious note, any ideas on how you want this floral <insert demeaning f-word of your choice here> to attack Mario?

I should make an update on this boss. I don't have anything really major to show yet, but I can say exactly what this boss is going to do and how it is going to work. This boss will have 3 major attacks, 1 of which comes after the 2nd Hit. Probably will have 3-4 HP max.

- An attack that summons brambles/flowers
- An attack that drops multiple small and big berries
- An attack that summons leaves/petals (after 2nd Hit)

As far as attacking by Mario, it's a boss that Mario has to hit Dryad on the head. The original plan was to pick up apples/berries and throw them at a big berry that would hit Dryad but that seems too much like Mecha-Tree from World 1 with throwing acorns (this time it's berries) at the boss. A hit though is not as easy as it seems - you have to have the right moment to hit Dryad on the head by bouncing off of a berry.

Any other suggestions are welcome.
Throw them at a big bouncy berry (bbb!) that would get stuck in the ground (or bounce around a little), that Mario has to jump on to gather enough height to ~jump~ on the Dryad's head?

Since the boss is established as being fond of Piranha Plants/Munchers, perhaps they might be worked into the battle somehow (as summons, etc.)?
