That worked. The level shows up.

But now I'm not getting any collision, so as soon as I enter the level, I fall through the ground and die.

It's strange, because I have the level mode set to 8. (Vertical Layer 2 level, interacts with objects)And I even tried turning sprite buoyancy on for the hell of it. That didn't do anything. D:

Carol did. It's in STARSW.ZIP. However, it's not very good in my opinion (as in it's not very accurate to the SMB3 angry sun). MiOr did one too, which is EXTREMELY good (as in, completely perfect), but I don't think he ever released it, you know how he is. @__@ Some other japanese hacker did one too which was close to perfect, but he put it in his hack and never released it to anyone else.

I disagree with that mentality. X__X

But yeah, if you can manage to get a hold of STARSW.ZIP, he's yours, but make sure to credit Carol. Good luck finding it, and remember what the Elders taught you about using Google, young warrior. :D

Edit: I have a question. What are Mario's walking and running X speeds? I thought I'd find this info in the Rom Map but I was wrong. >_<

I believe it's one of the colors in Palette 0, but I'm not sure which color number exactly. Usually the mist is transparent anyway, so even darker colors should show up brighter in most cases.


Figured it out, it's color 3 on palette 0. Thanks man. Was able to recreate the courtyard before boarding the doomship.

Which part of a pallete determines the color of the FG?
Usually it´s palette 02 (if you are talking about SMW´s FG), but you can use the map16 editor to make the FG use any palette you want.

The classic piranha plant fix patch doesn't work for me. What could I have done wrong? You can also tell me how to change it manually (probably with a hex editor), but only if it's not too complicated - I'm a Hex n00b...


 
You know how Mario is supposed to run over small gaps at max speed? How do I guarentee that he doesn't lose speed and fall? Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't... What causes this?

@ TNS: You can change the Level header to 02 instead of whatever it's on to change horizontal levels to Layer 2

@ Lucas - SMW Mario unfortunately isn't programmed to run across small gaps like SMB1-3/SML Mario.

@ TestWhiteYoshiEgg - I found it easier just to use Davros's Alternative Piranha Plant in the custom sprites.

Great, they killed the old SMWcentral, a great archive which I needed. But now I have to ask again:

When I open a savestate from Kirby Superstar, I don't get the correct colors for the FG and BG while for the sprites it works. I recall that Mattrizzle said something about opening the savestate in a hex editor, copy 200 bytes from x1113 and paste it somewhere else.

Please help as soon as possible, I really need it. Thanks in advance.

I have a question of my own:

What could possibly be causing this little white folder looking thing to pop up for about a second and then disappear when the intro movie begins? I've run back through all my backup files to see when this started occuring to see if an external patch or tool may have glitched the rom but from what i can gather it has occured since the very start - at least since from right after replacing the original SMW title with my own (the original SMW logo covered that spot up so i have no idea if it was originally there or started after i redesigned it).
Again, this only appears for about a second right when the movie opens up and then disappears permanently. I'm at a loss as to discovering its origin.

ps, i am very aware of the ugly font scheme and original border, that will be taken care of further on down the road when i start modding a lot of the original gfx's.
