General Bugs (updated 11-6-12)

I think that the fish issue in Beach Ball Brawl is something related to the Global GFX, still, im not completely sure. About the other one, i never experienced when i was creating/testing the level, i'm going to give it a try at the base rom.

...oh boy, those SMWC Coins. I almost think it'd be easier to just make them sprites, though then we'd have to deal with slot limits and such. Bummer.

Guess i'm late here, but how about using the nintendo presents logo for such? It will probably be replaced later, no? And the coins graphics fit just well there.

I should have something witty to put here (even if it's just to update dated info), shouldn't I?

Two questions.

1.) Where would that leave the coin outline?
2.) Even if we go that route, what will we do about the Nintendo/SMWC/etc presents graphic that will load up on game start? What would it be replaced with?

Isn't the "Nintendo Presents" logo already replaced via DMA with Mario's graphics in-game/while on a level?

1.) The big "X" that is on it's side? I guess it's used to show the custom sprites in LM (I guess it is, never seen it anywhere else) so i think it's not an problem.

2.) I guess there is a way to use a new ExGFX file for a new logo? If it can't be done, we can make an new ExGFX file with the coins and replace it in the levels.

Oh yeah, I completely forgot about that; good point.

I'm sure it can be done, but that eats up more space than necessary, so that seems more like an "if all else fails" type of deal. Plus, would making the coin a sprite consume even MORE ROM space?

Actually, what I meant by "slot limits" was sprite slots, since SMWC Coins would have the potential to not spawn if they were sprites.

As stated multiple times in the past, if all else fails I guess we'll have to replace SMWC Coins in vertical levels with doors/pipes leading to horizontal side rooms.

I found one. In level Briar Mire, when the player hits the box with the mushroom in it (right before the big wall), the mushroom isn't visable until it fully leaves the box. See video: http://youtu.be/XT6hQYTSgaQ

That actually happens in every hack with the transparent/dark effects. Not sure if there's a fix for that but I think people don't care too much if it appears like so. Especially when the "hit" sound said there's something in that box.

Besides the graphical ugliness at interior of the castle, I also spotted a glitched tile at the outside of the castle. In the earlier versions of the base ROM, It was not glitchy and doesn't act like a cement block. Right now it is a glitched tile and it acts like a cement block.

What I circled is the glitched tile. Look!

And also, Why does a yellow pipe at the third section (The room after the midpoint) act like coins? When I tried to go into the pipe. But it actually turned out to be 4 coins.

I'm sorry, but I'm not good at SMW hacking, so I gave up on it. That means I'm leaving SMWCentral. Bye!
Yeah, I got that the first time you posted it, thanks.
More testing:

Coral Corridor:

I know "Who would be so stupid to do that?: but yeah, someone could. Mario can walk through the slope and die if he goes further.

Crocodilian Crossin:

The song is probably the same like in Smoggy Steppe which means very buggy.

I don't know why but sometimes when this guy attacks Mario, it floats in mid-air. It doesn't happen always though.

Sunset Split:

Due to the ceiling patch, if I bounce the powerup by accident, it will be gone forever.
More testin'!

Frivolous Fires:

Is it a Lakitu plant? No, it's a wrong tile. Well, changing the Lakitu head to a vine may mess up the Lakitu's graphics. Hmm...

Crumbling Catabombs:

The BG didn't fade properly.

Digside Dangers:

Not to be nitpicky, but shouldn't it say: and we're really busy instead of real busy?

What are those tiles near Mario? It looks like the deadly quicksand I must avoid. Also, if I pause the game, the screen still scrolls even if the screen is "freezed" which causes the player to die if he pauses. Shouldn't the first part have one or two reset doors just in case? If you push the boxes in the wrong direction, you can't push them back (when they're in the quicksand) which forces people to rewind the part.

Aerotastic Assault:

If I ditch Yoshi and he'll bounce, Yoshi will pass through the blocks and he will be gone forever.

Not a removal reason, but I can get to the secret with getting just one of the switches.

WTF?! It's a Kaizo Trap!

Radiatus Ruins:

A question. Will there be a BG? Not to be nitpicky but it looks a bit empty without it. Ok, let's check some issues:

Many ledges are a bit messed up and cutoffy.

And some pillars have grass which causes cutoff.

Anything related to the Piranha Plants has been acknowledged multiple times already.

Oh. Well, that happens if someone doesn't read everything in this forum. :/. But it's better to remind people of that. :P

Removal reason?! SERIOUSLY?! Oh yeah, SMWCP2 is just another plain ol' hack that has plenty of glitches and mus pass through hack moderation because there's no strict beta testing, and what you said has ABSOLUTELY EVERYTHING to be a REMOVAL REASON. </sarcasm>

OH YEAH! I also totally forgot that SMWCP2 is a kaizo hack, and as such, has fake exits that lead players to death! Because since it ABSOLUTELY ISN'T a strictly beta tested, high quality hack, it breaks one of the most important rules of hacking! And obviously, that glitch has COMPLETELY NOTHING to do with the fact that the goal roulette sprite has yet to be "recoded" to either stop the player from moving, or add an extra bit to do so, COMPLETELY NOTHING!!!</major sarcasm>

Seriously, what's so hard on reading through some threads?

Yeah... actually even if SMWCP2 would pass the moderation with a lot of glitches, it would be a terrible example of a hack SMWC users could do. SMWCP has some minor bugs but it has been accepted. Also we must remember those are hack guidelines, not rules so if we do a small issue that violates the guidelines, it won't be deleted (until it will be a more major one).
Not that what you just said made much sense whatsoever e.e

Oh well, let's get back on topic.

I don't know if this has been noted already, and if it was, sorry, but when I hold this springboard next to this block, the balloons that were supposed to come out of that pipe keep blowing up endlessly (until I let go of the springboard).

There's a reason this topic exists to begin with.

Excuse me, but why are you raging at Wormer over his wording when he raised a valid point for that particular level? If you have something to say, then say it with tact.
