Strawberry “Short and Sweet” Level Design Contest [Results HERE now with Judge Files]

Link Thread Closed
Here's my video.

I had fun making it. I learned a lot of map16 editing, at least using the vanilla graphics. The cloud level took me forever to make, just because of all the different ground/wall blocks I made. I hope you guys enjoy the video, even though it's silent.
My Files
Has anyone else played my level? I still have to play some of the levels though, and I'm not sure why I kept getting a blank screen when I tried to insert the graphics, and I was going to add custom music. Well, I was just wondering what other people thought of my level, but I guess it was fun making it. Also, you should make a video showing a few seconds of each entry once you are done judging them.
A quick compilation video I made for this contest:

Even though there were only 14 entries it's always nice to have a quick overview of the contest.
Alright it's been a week so I thought I'd let the contestants know how judging is coming along:

Judge1: Percent complete: 100%
Judge2: Percent complete: 100%
Judge3: Percent complete: 85% (approximation)
Judge4: Percent complete: Unknown

Once all the results are in from all the participating judges
I'll compile the results so I can reveal the winners.
Apparently the bug in mine fixed itself (or maybe ZSNES was glitching up), because in the video that Snifit just posted, the bug is unapparent. Anyway, any news on judging? (it's so exciting! ohwait no it's not)
soundcloud / bandcamp / twitter / buy/stream my EP / buy my touhou music / buy my NEW album!!!

Note: At the end the full standings are shown.

Don't worry; I'll have a more detailed look at the results along with the judge files in just a bit.
I just wanted to have the "big reveal" made in a video.
OMG! 2nd! :D
Well done to everyone who entered and congrats to those who made the top 5! #w{=3}

BTW, will anyone be LP'ing the levels?
how in tarnation i ended up by being the sixth dude

UM, i guess, good job to the top five then :0
Fuourth place YAY! :P
is there a 4th place badge?

Congratulations to the top 5 dudes, and BlackEagle766, the winner! :D
Being 5th is a big improvement for me. Also good job to the first 4 as well.
Congratulations to all the winners!

I ended up somewhere in the middle, so if the judges have some constructive critisism I'd sure like to hear the feedback.
I know. I assumed there was going to be a text file or something w/all of the comments. I did not get a low score, but I got like ninth or tenth.
Alright I’d like to take this time to say that I really enjoyed playing through all these levels for this contest.

There were some amazing entries and the quality overall was good.

I would like to say some of you guys need to work on your difficulty level, it was the biggest issue I came across while playing thru these levels.

I’d like to thank my 3 judges: Snifit, DetroitLionsDeity, and Vink for sacrificing their free time to help judge for this contest.

I’d also like to thank Snifit once again for the two videos he made for this contest, they both turned out really good.

Once again thank you all for participating in my first contest, and maybe I'll try doing something like this again.
I'd just like to say this, but I noticed that with mine, a lot of points were lost because the second room was too hard. When I tested it, I could easily beat the level without tools, but maybe I'm just better at playing than others, I really don't know.

Well it wasn't just about if it was beatable or not, it's also about being designed well and fitting the level as a whole.

The bigger issue with the 2nd room was how repetivitve it was, and that didn't make it too much fun to play.
What can I say. I had much fun and amger at judging the entrys. But now I must excuse me: I needed a lot of time for judging. I know that you may waited 2 weeks, but I was stressed these two weeks. I had school (including homework), a dance course, business with friends and parents and a birthday party...
So I must excuse me and I hope you understand this.

Last but not least:
All of you should work at SMW. There are a lot things to learn, so it can not get boring. Work on your level design, try to make good and new palettes, find a middle in your difficulty, look for mistakes and learn custom things!
Everybody can make a good level!

PS: If someone think: "Why this guy is a judge? He is new!" I must say. He had good reasons for this, because I play and hack SMW since 3 years. I played over 50 hacks.

#w{=P}
Thanks for the feedback. I see there was one problem, the Magikoopa, that made everybody trip and I can only agree to that.

The problem was that I couldn't get a custom shell generator sprite to work, so I instead used Magikoopa. The point is that when there's no more Red Koopas available you get stuck and have to kill yourself. So I felt compelled to add something that generates shells, and magi was the only way I could get it to work within the time limit. ^_~"

Another thing I noticed was that some of the judges said the ice block's looks were just so-so. But, I thought vanilla & chocolate graphics would be judged equally:

Can be vanilla, chocolate, water. (I will not favor one over the other!)

So I didn't quite get that one. Not that it matters too much, I will try to fix the issues if I ever use the concept again.

Btw. nobody had any comments on the last screen (after the door). I thought it would at least be worth mentioning. XD
Alright I just sent out the trophies (aka unofficial badges) to the top 3. Enjoy.

I know. It seemed like I did not do too bad, but most of the comments made it seem like I was being penalized, and I think I used a little bit of water, but it was not a swimmming level.

"Pretty much just default graphics, I didn’t find them too appealing."

I tried to use a few custom graphics, but everytime I tried to insert the EXGFX, I got a blank screen when I tested it in SNES9x, but I think I only tested it when I was completely done w/my level, and I had to keep starting over b/c it said it was a EXGFX hack, but the backgrounds like kept getting all garbled up in Lunar Magic so it was like I was stuck w/what I had, and I tried to make the walls move w/Layer 2 in the second room, but I guess it was better than nothing.

They also stated: "the level seems to end before it should." How was it supposed to end? I tried to use the SMW2 Birdo for a boss at the end, but when you got to it in the game, the game got frozen so I had to take it out, and the level worked fine, and I could not really help it b/c it was only a ten screen limit so that kind of restricted my level, but I guess I had fun making it even though I placed close to last.
