Without slowdown?

Kaizo

Which Kaizo hacks have you beaten without using slowdown even once (besides your own) or are determined to play through without slowdown? This is similar to the 'without savestates' thread on the main part of the forum. For me, all I can think of right off hand is one of the hacks in the Mega Cruel series (I think it was Mega Cruel 2. At least I'm pretty sure I didn't need to use slowdown for that one). I generally don't play that many Kaizo hacks.
If applicable, which Kaizo hacks/levels have you beaten without any savestates at all (besides maybe saving on the OW)?

Well, the original two Kaizos, as well as several of the Mega Cruel hacks. I've been trying to do Hertz Donut or Fourteen Hitler, though I haven't finished them yet..

No slowdown: pretty much everything*, since I'm better without slowdown than I am with slowdown.

No savestates: none.

Only overworld savestates: I've done almost all of C|C like this, as well as Kaizo Mario World 1 and 2. Oh and a load of really really poor hacks, which obviously don't count, and probably some more I've forgotten about.

*Everything means all hacks available on the SMWC Kaizo hacks section, including those in the old thread. I think I've played through all those hacks, actually...
Of course you should fight fire with fire, you should fight everything with fire.

My skills aren't the best and I get really pissed off when I fail a lot so I sometimes use slowdown in some intense parts. I have beat Kaizo Mario without slowdown. I don't really play Kaizo Hacks.
Well, let's see... wait a minute. I've never actually finished any hack besides my own in this section D:

I did Rise To The Challenge using OW saves.. that's sorta kaizo.. I made it a bit of the way through the first stage of World of Pain without slowdown...
Hmmmm, I remember playing through a bunch of them a while back using only savestates but I don't really remember which ones. I haven't really played Kaizo hacks for a while. Hacks requiring slowdown is pretty well where I would draw the line for what I would play since it doesn't even feel like playing Mario to me any more once you are using slowdown. Also, as Sadistic said, certain things for which you already have the finger memory to do at normal speed are easier to do without slowdown.

I would consider this basically the same as no savestates since the only difference is lives, and you should have infinite lives in Kaizo hacks anyway. Which levels/level halves did you manager to beat like this?
I've beaten the levels The Level 1, Snarly, Way Cruel, Tubular 2 and Awful without any in-level savestates. I haven't played any of the levels beyond that.

Really? Wow, that's some skill there! I can't even beat the original Kaizo without savestates.
Sadistic Designer? More like Fucking Lunatic.

Anyways, the main reason why I don't usually complete Kaizo hacks is that most of them seem to be too hard for me without slowdown, and I, unlike apparently every other Kaizo player here, can't stand playing with slowdown.

... The farthest I've ever gotten in a kaizo hack was probably the world 1 cave level in the original Kaizo Mario. (And, well, I think I probably completed at least one of Botcrazy's one-level ones, but they aren't that long nor do I remember which one it was anyways) I do want to get around to finishing it, but I tend to get bored of it by that point... :/
Good fucking bye.
So Sadistic, you've done Tubular 2 without savestates then? I've looked at that level and tried it for a little bit and with my current strategies it looks like it would take me about 20 hours of attempts to beat the first half of this level, which I am not willing to do. Obviously the hardest part in the level by far is the pipe area at the very beginning with all the munchers. Back when I was briefly attempting this I did manage to make it out of the pipe and muncher area once. I'd estimate that it would take me about an hour of attempts to do this on average. Also, almost right after the first pipe and muncher area there is a very difficult jump you have to make using the bullet bill since your timing has to be extremely precise. In my opinion the beginning of the level and this bullet bill jump are the major hard parts of the level. Do you have secret strategies, breakages or anything that you used to make these parts easier?
No I don't, those sections took me rather long too...

The good part is that directly after those sections you can do a lot of funny things, the rest of Tubular 2 can be broken quite easily (just ignore most of level 2B, go over the top of 2B to the midway point and then bring the shell to level 2B. Once you have a shell in level 2B the fun has started :))
Of course you should fight fire with fire, you should fight everything with fire.

Er... what? So then... how possible it's to do so?

I'd give up even with slowdown, lol.

Unfortunately that doesn't help very much since you need the springboard to skip 2B and it can be difficult to take the springboard with you since you need to throw it just right, and I can do all of 2B almost 100% of the time now anyway at this point. In fact, I'm pretty close to perfection at everything in Tubular 2 up until the midway point except for the bullet bill jump and the beginning, so if I ever did manage to make it past these two parts I'd have a pretty good chance of making it to the midway point. I may still try to do this.
I don't think I'd ever try C|C savestateless. I have a hard time with doing the entirety of Way Cruel at normal speed (I'm looking at you, part with the three ropes arranged in a vertical fashion, that fall as soon as you grab on).

The only thing I've ever done save stateless was Kaizo Level 1 because I suck at playing hacks.

E: and Hell in Mario World that was HARD.
