Tetris Attack / PDP

I started really getting back into this for the first time since in a few years and I haven't seen a recent thread about this, so I thought I'd post this.

Who here plays this? Anyone decent? Anyone who used to play on zbattle? If you were around during 2003-2005 or so we probably played at one point but I wasn't great on a keyboard and dialup meant the gameplay was worse than it needed to be.

Anyway, I've been playing time trial mode and trying to return to my slightly less shittier form. On a good run I'll break 20K and at my best I'll break 30K but that needs 13x chains from start to finish, no screw ups allowed. 99% of the time I won't deliver that... What's your best score?

I also read about a tournament you guys had way back, but it was versus on level 3. Any videos of that? I liked versus but unless you put it on level 7 or something it drags on for far too long. You can be pretty shitty at the game and keep it running for 10minutes or even 20+ no matter how much garbage your opponent sends at you. The upper levels mean you have to actually work to clear the garbage and it really helped out with the sluggish pacing VS otherwise has. I mostly played TT or upper level VS with the zbattle guys since we mostly thought the same. What about you?

Also if anyone is down for games just message me on IRC whenever. I'd like to get back into this like I just did with SMK =)
Heh I remember playing this game for quite a while before I even found SMWC. I probably suck at it again by now though. I still remember when I had a 10+ minute match against metal kirby, and I kept getting bombarded by SNN haha.

That tournament was definitely amusing, I wouldn't mind seeing another one.
My blog. I could post stuff now and then

My Assembly for the SNES tutorial (it's actually finished now!)
Oh my, Tetris Attack, I still play it and I so wanted to participe in that tournament but I didn't have a chance.

Maybe if we gather enough we could make another tournament!
Hello There
I would love to get back into this. That was certainly a great tournament we had a couple of years ago (I'd have to dig it up and look for the videos that were posted with it though). I don't remember what my best run was, though I always played Time Trial as well (really, I just felt Vs. came down to utter tedium, especially if both players were of equal skill).

..but yeah, I would almost certainly play if someone wanted to.
Would you mind to play one Vs. Round with me, S.N.N.?

I want to humillate you play with anybody else via online, all my relatives and friends that play TA with me aren't really a challenge...

Yeah, but it'll have to wait until this month is over at this point. I ended up grabbing a bunch of shifts at work, so my next two weeks are pretty packed.

..plus, I'll need to practice a bit more. I've only played a couple of round since this thread was made, and apparently I've lost a lot of my old skill. I could be in for an ass-kicking, to say the least.
...whats PDP?

anyways, i actually played Pokemon puzzle on the N64 before i found out about Tetris Attack (Pokemon puzzle is the same thing, just more annoying, i had some videos of playing the S-Hard mode, i sucked up till the last level (Mewtoo), then i beat it in one go)

These games are by far one of my more favorite puzzle games, i remember some good times playing against my older sister. We pretty much tied in 2D mode, but I would always win in 3D mode only after 20 minutes of endless giant blocks filling up the screen (3D is in the Pokemon).

...We always seemed to do better with Metal in the background...

Panel de Pon, I assume. The Japanese version of Tetris Attack (which doesn't have anything in common with Super Mario characters, afaik).
If I may, here's an IPS patch for an english Panel de Pon. Apply it to a clean US Tetris Attack rom.

On my skill level, I can beat Line Clear in any version of the game that I can use my keyboard with. I'm currently playing Pokemon Puzzle Challenge for shits, though, and I've never been able to beat the Intense difficulty. I judge my skill based on VS mode, not time attack. =\

I'm willing to have a match with someone, just be patient if you PM me.

This is a thing that's happening, now. Achievements in old video games.
Thank you for the layout, Erik557.
Man, I wish this would've worked. Oh well.
If not for respect, but dramatic effect, take on the face of Guy Fawkes.
Well it looks like this thread will serve as the host of TA/PDP matches.

Anybody who wishes a Match with me, send me a PM, I'm literally all the day available (Vacations FTW!)

Well, and according to my skill level, I can defeat Very Hard mode in under 5~7 minutes. I can hold enough in Endless mode to get the max score and I always play against Lv. 7 Computer.

...

I think I'm going to play TA a bit...

Does it still work against people with a regular tetris attack rom? I assume not.

Either way, I absolutely loved Pokemon Puzzle Challenge on the GBC, but I'd never played the first version, Tetris Attack/Panel de Pon.

Edit: just played the story mode and beat it on hard... only for the game to tell me I have to beat it again without losing any of the fairies...
I've realized this was outdated.
All I need to know is what to get, other than a PDP or Tetris Attack ROM, and I will play a few matches with people. I love playing both of these games when I'm bored!
Always remember, win or lose, you still tried.
urgh forgot about this thread..

@illslinky: you need ZSNES 1.36 or 1.42 and you need to forward port 7845 UDP in your router and firewall if needed. You can otherwise use TCP but it's pretty much unplayable. Some people had success using Hamachi + UDP without portforwarding but it doesn't always work. I prefer just forwarding ports and using direct IP in ZSNES.

I played online for the first time in a few years and it doesn't work as well as I remember. The input delay and occasional dropped inputs really get in the way sometimes but it's still the best we have right now.

@teff,snn,whoever else: I can't really schedule any times as I might flake out if something pops up with university or whatever, but I idle a lot in #serioushax and if I'm there, I'm probably up for a few games. Or just send a PM if I'm online here as I might be able to play too. I'd like to see the best this site has to offer.
Thank you very much for that. Now I know how to get netplay to work on it!
Always remember, win or lose, you still tried.
#serioushax huh?

Will be there this weekend to practice online TA, as I have never really played TA online before.

So... I think I'll be there now, just to see if I can catch you.
