That's actually sort of something I can't fix. Due to the way I coded it, Mario speeds up in the direction that he's traveling, and since he's rapidly changing directions as he spin jumps, his speed is pretty much constant and can't change until he lands. I decided to keep it that way though, I figured it would be more of a challenge that way, and also have it feel a bit more realistic overall.

Again, that was intentional to make it more challenging. I mean this is World 7 after all. :

IMO the kicked shell isn't actually that hard to avoid, then again I designed the level so I guess it's sort of biased since I already know what to expect or something. Eh.

I think I'm actually going to keep it the way it is. I mean, the level is supposed to be difficult, it's purposefully designed so that the average player WON'T get it on the first try. A lot of games are like that; it's meant to be difficult, but at the same time fun and challenging. I'm personally very satisfied with the design the way it is now, but if other people don't seem to like it either then I'll consider changing it.

Well I figured that it would look pretty unnatural to be skating up and down large hills of snow. Especially considering ice skating is typically done on..well..ice. :
