got a girlfriend/boyfriend???

No. Unfortunately in my town are a lot of girls that are idiots. I don't saw someone inteligent here. Whatever, I don't need a girlfriend.

Yep. I have a girlfriend and we've been going out for a whopping 2 years now.
My parents were together for 1 year before they had me, so wow, I guess.

I think these kinds of things are different for adults, where there are generally few reservations about going further, since they are old enough, and it is likely that they have done such things in the past with former dates.

The problem is, I'm shy and afraid to pursue anyone without first knowing if they like me back. It's a shame we have to be the ones to ask them out.

YES! Someone else who actually understands!

The problem here, this particular one, is what I feel to be those ever-present cases of gender roles that I am always so fixated on. That guys are the ones to ask out the girls, take initiative, and are expected by both girls and other guys to act a particular way or else never get a girlfriend (or in more accurate terms, "never get laid"). I heard people say I'll never get laid, due to having an interest in computing, video games, etc.

I do feel absolutely lucky though, for different reasons though, for having the relationship I do have. The situation is so astounding to me, that I've even ventured into saying it's fate, which I am not one to do. Yes, I do realize that when people get into the whole "I really love you" and "We were meant to be together", it often serves to lead to disappointment when it "inevitably" ends up in ruins. I do not believe that will happen, but I suppose whatever happens does.

Six days ago was my 7 month anniversary with my girlfriend. Although she's mostly away for the summer at an internet-less beach with no home phone and a limited-use cell phone, we've still managed to remain happy together while being apart. Just yesterday we went to Connecticon for what I could easily consider one of the best days of my life. What it means to me though, that after this long we're still together, that I was always right in my views of what relationships should be and therefore was able to maintain one since I actually cared about *her*, and never rushed anything beyond what we were comfortable of, is that I could be happy aiming for my goals. I found somebody who could accept me, even love me, for who I am. It took finding the one exception among everyone else at an entirely different school (which was entirely due to Robotics, effectively filtering out most people who didn't already have similar interests to me), but I did it. I feel vindicated in that a lot of what I felt about gender roles was true, that relationships didn't have to be a certain way what with the many examples of role reversal we have between us.. in fact she was the one who asked 'me' out, something we reflected on just yesterday when recollecting the past.

I've had this same problem myself growing up. It just goes to show you that certain people are extremely picky and can't accept what someone really is. I don't see my videogames and my computer as my life so I don't let it get in the way of my moral values like my family and friends. My girlfriend loves that fact about me and she accepts the fact that I love games and computers.
I think a post layout goes here somewhere...
Yes of course. The ladies can't resist my maleness.

on the serious side I hate stereotypes of computer programmers and videogamers. They all think that just because "they never leave there house" witch, for me, is mostly true, we still leave the house. Believe it or not I am a computer programmer and still have a girlfriend. I have been on many date with her (witch involves leaving the house) and like her very much.

I have no Idea if anything I just said was relevant.
I have a boyfriend now, which is really exciting because before I was 20 and never had a boyfriend, and would think I'd be 'FOREVER ALONE', but so far in these almost three months it's gone pretty well. We met online, but happen to be geographically close enough (in the same county) to try out such a thing.

So happy! -u-
Nearly this entire thread is kicking me in the face.
Try not to sweat it. As long as you're around a decent group of friends IRL or know a lot of online peeps all over the place pretty well (or better yet, as a group of friends), one day it may just happen where suddenly you have a boyfriend/girlfriend out of that group. Well, not suddenly, but the point's made, right?

  • I couldn't say I have one or the other. I hate people, so I'm not really interested in relationships of any kind. I'd rather suck my toe.

One of the lucky ones that has a girlfriend; We've been dating since senior year of high school, ended up going to the same university, and things stayed good throughout the first year. We're living together next year, which is very excited, albeit terrifying.

We're pretty much polar opposites though, not much in common at all. Seems to work out well, we balance each other out and where one person is ignorant the other is knowledgeable. To put this in perspective, she's an art major, whereas I'm a Math/Comp Sci Double Major.

I have a girlfriend. We met at a ski resort when I was with my friends, we just started liking eachother instantly (Yes, really). We've been dating 9 months as of yesterday long distance. Its really hard but we manage. *CoughModelCough* ;)

...her parents arn't all for it though -_-

EDIT: We usually see eachother around every 2 months. Which is not enough.
I did have a girlfriend. Not anymore.

    AMAZING STORY!

Naw, I'm kidding around, if that's all you want to share, that's cool. But I might as well say some things too. I think my situation is weird; I definitely want a girlfriend, but no one I know right now is someone I'd want to date. At least, I'm pretty sure they're not. I've thought about it enough, but I really can't see me dating anyone who I know right now (which puts me in the "forever alone" mindset). I know I'm young and give it time and all that stuff, but it's still shitty when everyone else in your grade has had a girlfriend but you.

The story is rather long and boring, plus I don't think many people are -too- interested to know anyway.

    It's sort of personal, anyway.
I had this nice little asian broad a while back. She was into my type of music n shit so we hit it off. One day, though, she found out from a nigga that I didn't really like her so we broke up. I'll get another though cuz all you need is swag and you'll get the bitches brewin.

I used to have a girlfriend. I'd admit, she was cute at first.
    I'm tired.

Sonic 3 Restored patch coming soon
No. Everyone I meet suspiciously walks home with a rope and I never see them again.
This thread really shows how lucky I am, I suppose, when I juxtapose myself against everyone else.
The very creation of this thread makes me loose all faith in humanity. It’s almost as bad as my 2+2 thread….

    I guess I do have a girlfriend.

    Your layout has been removed.

    *rage face*
Have I ever had a girlfriend?
The thought of me actually being able to, makes me laugh.

I'm one of the laziest people you will ever know, (I was lucky to have a high metabolism, meaning I'm not extremely fat though)
I have absolutely NO life (to give an example, I NEVER leave my room, unless it is to get a drink, food, or to go to the bathroom.)
    I'm extremely boring and dull
    I'm not very intelligent
I do not fit in ANYWHERE, I don't even fit in that much with my group of friends.
And to top it off, 90% of the girls I know are slutty.
There is no woman for me and there never will be.
