My projects

Hey guys I have 2 ideas of SMW hack: My first project is a remake Super Mario bros 2 with super mario world, you know with powers up,yoshi, when you jump on an enemy he die, like all mario bros games.I dont like SMB2 that's why I want to remake the game, but before I start,I want to make sure that, first of all this idea doesn't exist otherwise I'd just download the hack, but I want to make sure that this project is possible,I'd like to have some tips, some advises, program that could help me to realise that hack. This hack will have the same graphics, but not exaltly all the same songs (there will still have the original songs but I could add some songs from other mario games) I could add some bonus levels and more...The name of this hack could be
Super Mario bros 2 Plus.

My second project is a remake of New super Mario bros wii and New Super Mario bros(DS) in one game.I dont think is possible to have the bosses from those games so I'd put the originals bosses from SMW.I want to remake those game cause personally I think they were too easy so in that remake the level will be remixed to be harder (but not alot I dont want an impossible game too) But I was thinking about it and there was I problem:in SMW we can't have some platform that we found in NSMB and NSMBWii,but I think i can deal with it.The name of this hack could be New super mario world.

So if you have any suggestion, idea, advises or anything else,I'd like to read them.
Please, don't remake other games. It's very unoriginal and there's a 99% chance that the staff will reject this.
The first one exists, kind of:

Kind of, because it's old. And hence it doesn't have the custom boss sprites, which are now available to use and would arguably improve such a remake drastically.

As for the latter, don't bother. The graphics, especially those for New Super Mario Bros Wii, use too many colours to easily port over to SMW.

As for Mario's Nightmare Quest? Well, it's currently on Fusion Gameworks, ROM Hacking.net or the GCN at the moment.
Well, there's no need to change the graphics if I cant,I could just keep the originals.
I highly suggest an alternative project to try and complete. Remaking a game on SMW is no easy task ESPECIALLY games like SMB2 and NSMBWii, believe me. Those games have too many differences in mechanics, power-ups, world map space, and other various factors. Unless you know enough ASM to actually get the job done, I would not recommended it. Besides, why would you make a remake when you'll most definitely have an easier time coming up with your own kind of hack?
SMB 2 is hard to remake? How? We've ripped all the graphics, ported all the music, remade all the enemies and bosses, remade most if not all of the blocks...

The only things left are the four different playable characters and slot machine.

Not saying to remake it though, try something more original.

There IS a limit to what you can do with this engine. Not everything is as simple as ripping and inserting/patching.

Hmm, the only SMB2 bosses I know of that stay true to the original are Dispari's Mouser and Sonikku's Hawkmouth. We'd still miss Tryclyde, Clawgrip, Fryguy and Wart. That's quite a bit one has to code for the remake plus the additional stuff like the slot machine and the mechanics.

But I agree, playing a remake of SMB2 is as boring as playing the real game itself for the xth time. You should go for a completely new game.
But arent they act the same? Walk left right and shoot? They do the same thing technically...
Dahnamics's versions stay more true to the original than Mouser, Mouser's bombs don't kill other bombs thrown in the original game yet the ones used by the SMW custom sprite do, making the battle very different.

There's also a second Fryguy which acts just like the original:

Clawgrip acts pretty much the exact same as the original. Tryclyde slightly less so, but I can't tell whether the finished sprite is more accurate than the beta one my own hack uses.

Wart would be fairly easily to code if you know how to code the tilemap for the sprite.

Most mechanics from the original game are available as patches and sprites.
