I know. I said that because his final post linked to this thread, and I liked the hack. It was a compliment.
Eh, sure. Why not? Kaizo hacking doesn't seem too ha-aaaaaaand I broke the ROM.
To be honest, I really don't know how I've missed this. Thegamer produced such eligant graphics for this. I'm so impressed by this. I hope to see much more progress in the future from you. The level design could be improved though. Perhaps by adding more slopes etc.

My two cents:

Really liking the new graphics. They're a nice take on the old YI graphics. Familiar but new. I'd recommend keeping this kind of style throughout the game. If you change Yoshi's graphics, give them a familiar YI feel but don't make them direct rips. Maybe base them over.

But I insist you also do this with my area of romhacking 'proffesion'. Music. The YI music is all well and good but instead of using actual YI music I think it'd be much better if you instead used YI-esque music. Maybe kind of what Shnabubula did with his Alternate Reality Edition Music. Just a suggestion though...

It will probably be quite some time. I still have to finish level 1-2, create levels 1-1, 1-3, and 1-4. I can't do those things until TheGamer finishes the tilesets for them. Also it won't take as long because on June 12, he'll be totally free to do this, so tilesets should come much faster. After I finish making the levels and have everything ready for a demo, I'll have to get it beta tested. When all the bugs are fixed, I'll submit it. So a demo would probably come out around late July or early August, if all goes well. There was a demo out last C3, but it was unfinished, had shitty graphics, and is no longer available.

I see what you mean. Unfortunately, making slopes and doing all kinds of fancy tricks with the grass is kind of confusing, given how detailed it is, but if I take my time, I'm sure I can figure it out.

I see what you mean. However, I don't know any music porter who would be willing to compose an entire soundtrack for me. I like your ports a lot, but I've only seen you make ports, and I know you don't really take requests. If someone comes along and offers to make music for the hack, then sure; if not, I'll stick with the YI soundtrack.
I would've offered but I currently have exams and am working for 1upDudes concerning soundtracks right now. I've done a few custom compositions but haven't shown off many of them. Either way I'm sure if you ask around you can find someone. I just think it'd be a nice touch.

Damn... I really like the BG of the new level, it is pretty awesome =D Same with the FG, YI graphics are awesome, IMO though lol.

I finally finished 1-2! I'll celebrate by telling you guys something. At the end of this hack, there will be cake. Aren't you GLaD now that you know this?

Also, I should explain why the level is so short. Think about it, this is a tutorial world. The levels don't need to be long for people to understand how to play and do everything. Once the tutorial world is over, the levels will gradually get longer.

Nice to see the tileset in use =)
The level looks nice, and i see quite some interesting ideas, though you could use more of the slope tiles and make the wall shape vary a bit, look at the beginning for example, it's all flat.
Aside that, great work =)

I really think you should mod it so Yoshi can get hurt by spikes. In the original SMW, having Yoshi being able to walk over spikes was a nice little perk that made the game easier but now the point of the spikes is kind of defiled. Also the fact that Yoshi can't eat the enemies bugs me...

The level is also lacking slopes and looks a bit blocky as a result :|

Also there's going to be cake at the end of your hack!? That's how LOL ends! I'll kill you! *shot*

He could, of course, use spikes that you can only touch on the sides. Or have another kind of spike that "pierces" through Yoshi's shoes or something. I dunno.

Nice unintentional(?) pun there. Anyways spikes aren't useless. Remember that if you touch them anywhere but the top, you get hurt. And I'm not always going to use spikes exactly the same way.

Oh, don't worry. He can. In fact, that's pretty much the subject of 1-3. The only reason you couldn't eat the goombas was because I didn't want to introduce eating until then.

Looking at all of this makes me want to play Yoshi's Island... AND I FINALLY PASSED GAME AS OF NOW! I feel like playing this now, since I am taking a little break from my hacking headache since I finally fixed my ultimate problem. Sure can't wait for the finished hack.

P.S. Anybody agree with the Yoshi's Island game?
The level looks nice, maybe add more slopes as others have suggested.
Also as for "waiting around" you could make another level with the saem tileset but change the pallettes around, thats what the orignal YI did.

I'm not liking the level that much. It's very empty and uses a few enemies here and there, which are only goombas or bullet bills. You also didn't add much coins or question blocks. Meh, I hope you'll improve this stuff as I love the graphics. Good luck.
