Mario and the dreaded Island((world 2 tileset video)

Ok, after my last hack being an epic failure,Ive started a new hack, this yime, with better lvel desing, more cutom grafics, compleatly new OW, eventually custom sprites, and custom music.

Well, now for the story:
Mario recieves a letter from peach, inviting him to have the anual mushroom celebration(with cake, of course), so mario gets on his air ship and heads strait to mushroom kingdom.Unfortunatly, a masive storm hits the air ship, destroying it and sending it crashing on a misterious island.Not only did the storm ship-reck mario, but brought a bunch of sea-urchins on the island, and destroying most of the beach, leaving a masive cliff.

Well, the idea is this: mario is stuck on an island, that will turn out to be...CANT TELL YOU!

Well, worl one is done, world 2 map is done,world map3 is being made, main OW is being planed out/finished.

This is looking quite good! Is the level in those screenshots a beach-styled level, as shown by the ground colour? The new ? block and Mushroom graphics are nice too. #w{=)}Free counters!

Yes, It is a beach.For more grafics, please do check out the ips.

Well, I have updated the ips and added some screenshots.Whithin the hack itsel, I have made grafics, a title screen, marios airship and a new level.PLease post some feedback

The OW looks a bit plain to me, you could add more details to it.
The 3Dish level definately need a background. Like this it looks way too boring.

But I like your idea of the destroyed airship with the Yoshi's House Smoke, looks pretty cool to me.

It's looking good so far. Defiantly liking the palettes of the first screen shot. Two screen shots after that look pretty good as well.

However the overworld looks kind of bad IMO, not necessarily how it's designed but it looks bland. Try adding a few decorations in it.

The 3Dish level looks alright; can't really tell too much from a single screen shot but like BlackDeath said, it does need a background.

I am really liking the title screen though. This overall is still looking pretty good. #w{=D}

Graphically, the hack was great. I especially loved the 3D level and the use of layer priority in it. If you could make the pipe look like it fit in, it would be the cherry on the cake. I also liked the crab replacement for the Monty Mole.

Level design wise, it could use some work. The 3D level was pretty good but unfortunately, you ended the hack a little of the way through it. The other two levels seem a bit short. The first level was ok until the midpoint where you had one small challenge, moved two screens right, and there was the exit. Very lopsided. The big wall of throw blocks in the second level also seemed pointless. In my opinion, you give away powerups and 1-ups too easily.
I liked this hack and I say... KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!

Actually, fogot to change the brown used blocks there for cement blocks.
Also, windoms is now running, and will stop self updating in 24 hours, then, You will suffer the wrath of the first castle!!!

Just a tip: make your overworld as you do your levels, instead of doing your entire overworld before any levels are done. So that way instead of thinking "now I have to make a desert oasis leading into a pyramid going into a castle with a secret exit leading to a bonus world" you can think "okay, what level should I make next? I can make anything!" This is a bit of advice I got from this thread.

Well, dont worry, I have all the levels in world 2 thought out, all I need is some time for finishing the tileset, and motivation for advancing.
Also, a hint: second world will be inside a mountain, expect underground rivers, lava, darkness, ect.
Also, betwen world 2 and 3, there will be a speciall level....
