We will all miss this game...

EDIT: MODS PLEASE CLOSE THIS.
Just so you know, I'm very active on the site anymore like I was before; I'm mainly on Discord now.
Then how about this. I'll write the rules up, and run a super hero themed game next.

How?

Like this. Each player suggests one role to me. If it's good enough, they get that role, but nobody else knows who got it.

Sides are picked somewhat at random.

Also, it's THE longest thread to last. It was in the old forum games, was moved to WOI, and back here again.

Naaaaw, we should wait for the thread to reach exactly 6000 posts.
18 posts left...

EDIT: ninja'd

And phenolatukas, I think people might abuse that.

Whoa! I have a Tumblr!

Layout made by me.
Thanks to Leod and algorithmshark for helping.
Why exactly is anyone expecting that this thread will be closed?

No, this is not a warning for bad behaviour. In fact, you have all been doing very well in keeping this forum alive and free of too much spam. I am very proud of all you Forum Gamers!

I'm making an announcement to inform you that the Mafia game is closing in on 300 pages. A user PM'd me to ask if the game should be closed and Cased once it hits 300 pages, and I agree. The 'owner' of the game is inactive, 300 pages is a pretty big number, and a fresh start (with more comprehensive rules) would do the game good.

So...that's the game plan. If any of you has a really good reason why the original thread should remain open past 300 pages, give me a shout via PM; otherwise, enjoy the last few pages of the old thread!

This is why.

... Also why does everyone lurk this thread without playing?

Mafia themed mafia is fine. I kinda assumed everyone else got bored of it though.
I'm with Crystal here. Variations are fine every now and then, but they almost always bring new roles, names, strategies, and while none of those things are bad, they can lead to confusion very easily. I think that we should just play regular Mafia for the next couple of games.

Done. Regular mafia it is.

Those... are the worst reasons I've ever, ever seen.
Mafia is a game that can be hosted by whoever, and it has been done by several people like that for ages.

That 300 pages is a "pretty big number" is cool and all, but why should anyone care?
Just let the game go on, it isn't doing anybody harm and would be much easier, there is no forum rule saying that a thread can't be that big, too, is there?

And about the "more comprehensive rules".. why can't those just be included in the post when the next game starts? I mean seriously, who does ever look at the first post of this thread? In my humble opinion, doing that wouldn't do the game any good.

Whoever that user was, I'm pretty sure of that, just annoyed by nobody playing this game any more, and wanted some attention for it. But to be honest, a 300 page long, stickied thread with a well-known game is far more likely to attract more players than a 2 pages long stickied thread.

I'll tell Kadyastar to look at this post instead of sending it in a PM, bleh :v

So the mafia thread is... NOT dying? Yay!

From what I can comprehend, the restart of the mafia thread is just a matter of popular prefrence.
The logic behind that though, is thin. There is the fact that some moments in this thread have been bad ones, and we need a break from them to get the rules and such back on track. Plus, who would go to a random page to find the rules, when there isn't a link to them anywhere? The first person who is still "active" that posted in the Mafia thread is Riolu180, and I don't even know if he'd bother editing that post to link the rules in that random post, and who would look at that post anyway? Plus, when I see a new forum game, I technically would check it out. New forum game, yay.
But of course, we have no reason to keep it open anyway.
Also I change my vote to Leod since he insists on keeping this thread open despite him never playing a mafia game. I find it very Mafia-like.
woag.....

(previously superdragonyoshi1. sup yall.)
All these being said...I wish I played now.
I don't think any harm will come from starting a new thread, and (I assume) casing the old one. Comprehensive rules on the first page with be very helpful, would serve as sort of a template for new games, with variations on the standard set up, and would also be helpful resource for new players who are confused by the roles.

@DDDchu Mafia isn't ending. We're just discussing whether to start a new thread or not.

Actually, "I don't like this game. Closing." Is the worst reason you've ever seen, but whatever.

Anyway, my main reason for wanting this restarted is to have the rules on the first page. The most important part of a game is knowing how to play, and having to go to a random page to find the rules detracts from that.

What I think should happen is that people discuss what the new rules should be, then write them out. If they look good--or at least fluid--I'll pick someone to start the new thread (probably phenolatukas, as he has asked).

Restarting the game allows for a possible revamp of the rules. It might not be necessary, but it's a lot easier to think up additions now rather than halfway through the game. If you are going to discuss the rules, I think it only fair that the people who have been playing the game should be the ones discussing the rules.
All right. The new Mafia thread is being established, and this one has run its course.

Congratulations, guys! You made it to three-hundred pages! I hope the new thread can last that long, if not longer.
